Week 10 Fantasy Football Running Back Outlooks

Ashton Jeanty, Las Vegas Raiders

Las Vegas Raiders running back Ashton Jeanty should be viewed as a quality RB2 option when the Raiders take on a quality Denver Broncos defense on Thursday. The rookie from Boise State has been something of a letdown, given where he was taken in most preseason fantasy drafts, but he has such control over the Vegas backfield that he still enters Week 10 as the No. 13 overall fantasy running back.

Jeanty has eclipsed 80 yards only once in eight games, a 138-yard showing against the Chicago Bears in Week 4, though his 25 targets have made him a regular part of the team's passing game and given him additional fantasy value. At 2-6, the Raiders look headed for yet another lost season, but a running back playing more than 70% of his team's offensive snaps should be in fantasy lineups.

Emari Demercado, Arizona Cardinals

Arizona Cardinals running back Emari Demercado had a strong performance in a 27-17 win over the Dallas Cowboys in Week 9, rushing for a team-high 79 yards on 14 carries.

Demercado ran well against a poor Dallas run defense, and with uncertainty in regards to Trey Benson's (knee) return, the Cardinals could ride the hot hand with Demercado as the back to receive the most touches in their Week 10 matchup against the division-leading Seattle Seahawks. The Arizona backfield has been a messy one to figure out for fantasy managers, and it will likely stay that way for the foreseeable future. Seattle is a tough matchup, but Demercado has value as a flex play.

RJ Harvey, Denver Broncos

Denver Broncos running back RJ Harvey will look to continue his touchdown streak Thursday night against the Las Vegas Raiders as he enters Week 10 leading the Broncos' backfield in scores on the season with six. In Week 9 against the difficult Houston Texans defense, Harvey continued to prove head coach Sean Payton right with his dynamic usage in the passing game, catching all five of his targets for 51 receiving yards and a touchdown.

This marks the second game this season in which Harvey has seen five targets in a game, and his third straight game in which he has had at least one touchdown. As RotoBaller's RB23 overall on the week, start Harvey with confidence as an RB2 with weekly scoring upside.

J.K. Dobbins, Denver Broncos

Denver Broncos running back J.K. Dobbins has still been the king of the backfield through nine weeks from a touch standpoint, but he will strive to get back in the end zone for the first time since Week 5 as he faces the Las Vegas Raiders at home on Thursday night. At first glance, averaging 77.2 rushing yards per game would sound like a no-brainer RB1 statistic.

However, the presence of running back RJ Harvey has certainly been a threat to Dobbins' scoring opportunities. Harvey has now outscored Dobbins on the season with six total touchdowns to four, with five of them coming within the past three games. With Dobbins' healthy floor, thanks to currently accounting for the fifth most rushing yards in the league, he is RotoBaller's 13th-ranked running back for Week 10.

Jacory Croskey-Merritt, Washington Commanders

Washington Commanders rookie running back Jacory Croskey-Merritt (mouth) was wearing a non-contact jersey on Wednesday and was listed as a limited practice participant after having dental work done, according to John Keim of ESPN. Croskey-Merritt should be available to play on Sunday against the visiting Detroit Lions, but the better question is whether he'll lose any playing time to Jeremy McNichols and Chris Rodriguez Jr. after stumbling the last few weeks.

The 24-year-old seventh-rounder has been the team's lead back since Austin Ekeler suffered a season-ending Achilles tear in Week 2, but Bill hasn't scored since Oct. 5 and is averaging just 3.1 yards per carry for 157 yards on 51 rushing attempts in the last four games. Expect defenses to load the box more to stop the run against Washington now, with quarterback Jayden Daniels (elbow) out for the foreseeable future. JCM is trending down as an RB3/flex play heading into this weekend.

Nick Chubb, Houston Texans

Houston Texans running back Nick Chubb (foot) was listed as a non-participant in Wednesday's practice due to a foot injury, according to Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Sports. The Texans have already ruled out quarterback C.J. Stroud (concussion) for their Week 10 game against the division-rival Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday, and the veteran Chubb could also be in danger of sitting out this weekend unless he returns to practice on Thursday or Friday.

If the 29-year-old is limited or out against the Jaguars, rookie Woody Marks would be in line for a bigger workload, while Dare Ogunbowale would likely be elevated to RB2 duties. Chubb has mostly been underwhelming in his first year with the Texans as their primary back, with Joe Mixon (ankle, foot) still out, as he's averaged 3.9 yards per carry for 355 rushing yards and only two rushing scores in eight games.
