Time to Drop Hassan Haskins? Fantasy Football Week 8 Waiver Wire Outlook (2025)

Hassan Haskins - Fantasy Football Rankings, Waiver Wire Pickups, Draft Sleepers

Should I drop Hassan Haskins for fantasy football Week 8? Is Hassan Haskins a safe player to cut? Read the fantasy football waivers outlook.

Los Angeles Chargers running back Hassan Haskins (hamstring) was thought to be on the verge of having a much bigger role in the offense when rookie running back Omarion Hampton (ankle) was put on injured reserve with an ankle injury.

Both of the Chargers' top-2 RBs, Hampton and veteran Najee Harris (Achilles), are on injured reserve, and Haskins and second-year pro Kimani Vidal have both gotten additional work since then. But it hasn't led to much production.

But Haskins has been easily outproduced by Vidal. In his last three games, Haskins has averaged less than 3.0 PPR fantasy points and is currently dealing with a hamstring injury. Is it time to drop Haskins now?

Be sure to check all of our fantasy football rankings for 2025:

Should I Drop Hassan Haskins in Fantasy Football?

Probably not a bad idea. As if things could get worse, Haskins is currently listed as "Doubtful" on his team's injury report for the Chargers' Thursday Night Football game against the Minnesota Vikings. Players with this injury designation almost never end up suiting up.

It will once again be the Vidal show, and with Haskins offering so little upside, it's almost reasonable to expect him to be start-worthy in the case of a Vidal injury. The Chargers are already incredibly pass-heavy and have a very poor defense, which has led to multiple shootout game scripts.

Los Angeles is fresh off getting absolutely blasted by the Indianapolis Colts offense. There were multiple plays where they offered little to no resistance to the opposing rushing attack, and they allowed running back Jonathan Taylor to finish with three touchdowns. They also got diced up through the air by QB Daniel Jones.

An injured RB who barely puts up points, lacks receiving upside, is on a team with a bad defense, has many offensive line injuries, and isn't the starter isn't worth hanging on to.

Who Should I Pick Up for Fantasy Football?

Running back is pretty interesting this time of year. For the most part, you're throwing darts at backups, waiting to see if any starting RB gets injured, and hoping you were lucky enough to snag the backup of the RB that went down.

Along those lines, San Francisco 49ers running back Brian Robinson Jr. and Atlanta Falcons RB Tyler Allgeier are good bench stashes to make. They're both tied to good rushing offenses that are typically very productive, and would both likely get massive backfield work if Christian McCaffrey or Bijan Robinson got hurt.

If you're looking for RBs that have major upside, even if no one ahead of them on the depth chart gets injured, one you could snag is Kansas City Chiefs RB Brashard Smith. He scored a season-high 13.1 PPR fantasy points in Week 7, and though he had a lot of garbage time carries, it's his receiving work that gives him consistent value.

My favorite pickup is Jacksonville Jaguars RB Bhayshul Tuten. A shoulder injury held him back from Week 3 to Week 6, but he had a pretty solid share of the backfield work in Week 2 and Week 7. I expect a post-bye bump in his production. He's an elite athlete, and the Jaguars' lead running back has struggled lately.

Travis Etienne Jr. has averaged under four yards per carry in October after logging 6.1 in September. Against tougher defenses, he doesn't have much to offer -- he's forced zero missed tackles by defenders in that span, too. Tuten is a priority add and has league-winning potential.
