Tyler O'Neill, Dylan Carlson Competing For Center Field Job
2 years agoSt. Louis Cardinals outfielders Tyler O'Neill and Dylan Carlson are competing for the starting center field job in spring training this year, according to manager Oliver Marmol. The skipper reiterated that O'Neill, Carlson and Lars Nootbaar are the three front-runners for the starting outfield jobs, but the players and starting positions are interchangeable. O'Neill can play left field and center, while Carlson and Nootbaar can play all three outfield positions. O'Neill will play center for Team Canada in this year's World Baseball Classic, so he's been working exclusively there in camp so far. Regardless of where he's playing, the 27-year-old O'Neill will be a lineup regular for the Cards in 2023, making him an intriguing mid-round outfield target for fantasy managers because of his power and speed combination.
