Panthers Won't Stop Cam Newton From Running
7 years agoCarolina Panthers quarterbacks coach Scott Turner, the son of offensive coodinator Norv Turner, said the team won't keep quarterback Cam Newton from running. “He’s going to run – that’s what makes him the dynamic player he is – but also making the throws in the pocket, going through his reads. All of those things come from experience, and he’s played seven seasons now," Scott Turner said. Coming off offseason shoulder surgery, Newton was highly inconsistent with his accuracy last year, and he's only completed 58.5 percent of his passes in his career, something that the team wants to improve. Newton was highly inconsistent for his fantasy owners, too, but the saving grace was his league-leading and career-high 754 rushing yards. The fact that Cam will continue to use his legs to make big plays will keep him in the conversation as a QB1 in 2018.
