Pittsburgh Pirates outfielder
Oneil Cruz (back) remains out of the team's starting lineup for Friday's series opener against the hosting Philadelphia Phillies at Citizens Bank Park.
Matt Gorski will give it a go in center field and will hit eighth against Phillies left-hander
Ranger Suarez. This will be Cruz's fifth straight game on the sidelines with back soreness, and if he doesn't recover in time to play this weekend in Philly, the Bucs might decide to put him on the injured list. Cruz hasn't impressed with his .238 average (31-for-130) in 37 games this year, but he's added eight home runs and a league-best 16 stolen bases. Gorski should be considered a low-upside deep DFS streamer near the bottom of Pittsburgh's batting order on Friday night. In his first 14 major-league games in 2025, Gorski has gone 8-for-38 (.211) with two homers and four RBI.

Seattle Mariners shortstop
J.P. Crawford (shoulder) is playing shortstop and batting leadoff for Friday's series opener in San Diego against the Padres and right-hander
Stephen Kolek. The Mariners scratched Crawford from Wednesday's series finale against the New York Yankees but he's back after a travel day on Thursday. The 30-year-old brings little power to the shortstop position but has hit a respectable .271 (38-for-140) on the year for the M's with three home runs, 18 RBI, 18 runs scored and two stolen bases in 40 games played. The former 16th overall pick by the Philadelphia Phillies in 2013 is hitting .240 (12-for-50) with a homer, two doubles, four RBI, a stolen base and two runs scored in 11 games in the month of May. Crawford is hitless in just one career at-bat against Kolek.

Philadelphia Phillies right-handed pitching prospect
Moises Chace (elbow) is set to undergo Tommy John surgery. The 21-year-old is currently ranked as the No. 5 prospect in the system on MLB.com. Through the opening month of the regular season, Chace logged 16 2/3 innings at Double-A. Through this stint, Chase held a 3.24 ERA with a 1.62 WHIP. He struck out 19 batters but struggled to command his pitches as he served up 16 free passes. Last season, Chace logged 60 2/3 innings between High-A and Double-A and posted an overall 3.56 ERA with a 1.25 WHIP. Fantasy managers should expect Chace to remain sidelined through at least the first half of the 2026 season. When he does return, the Phillies will likely keep him at Double-A given his early-season struggles.

Arizona Diamondbacks second baseman
Ketel Marte (hip) is starting at the keystone and batting in his customary leadoff spot in Friday's series opener at Chase Field against the Colorado Rockies. After a scheduled day off for the team on Thursday, Marte will return to action after he was pulled late in Wednesday's game against the San Francisco Giants with hip stiffness. The 31-year-old All-Star hit two home runs in that contest, though, and his departure from the game was mostly precautionary. It's unclear who the Rockies are starting in the series opener in the desert on Friday, but Marte should be returned to all starting fantasy lineups regardless. His counting stats on the season are down because of a stint on the injured list in April due to a hamstring injury. Marte is currently slashing .262/.377/.554 with five homers, eight RBI and 14 runs scored.

The Los Angeles Dodgers have optioned left-handed pitching prospect
Justin Wrobleski to Triple-A Oklahoma City. Wrobleski was tasked to pitch four innings of relief on Thursday but will now return to Triple-A. In this contest against the Athletics, the left-hander performed quite well, logging four one-hit innings. He did not allow a walk and struck out four batters. During his first outing of the season, Wrobleski allowed eight runs and eight hits across five innings against the Nationals. Last season, the No. 10-ranked prospect in the system held a 5.70 ERA with a 1.38 WHIP across 36 1/3 innings of work. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor his production at Triple-A, as he should be in the mix to return to Los Angeles later in the summer.

Toronto Blue Jays outfielder/designated hitter
Anthony Santander will retreat to the bench for Friday's series opener versus the visiting Detroit Tigers at Rogers Centre.
George Springer will serve as the DH and will hit cleanup, while
Jonatan Clase will start in left field and bat ninth against Tigers right-hander
Jack Flaherty. It's been a rough start to Santander's time with Toronto in 2025. The 30-year-old Venezuelan switch-hitter has hit .187 (29-for-155) with five home runs, 16 RBI, 12 runs scored, 17 walks and 41 strikeouts in 173 plate appearances after clubbing a career-high 44 homers and driving in 102 in 2024 with the Orioles. He went 1-for-12 with five strikeouts in his last three games and missed some time with a sore shoulder. Springer has swung the bat well this year but is hitless in 14 career at-bats against Flaherty. Clase has never faced Flaherty.

Kansas City Royals left-handed pitching prospect
Noah Cameron is set to make a spot start on Saturday against the St. Louis Cardinals. Cameron will take the spot of
Seth Lugo (finger), who is being given the weekend off due to inflammation in his right finger. Cameron made his MLB debut earlier this season and performed very well, tossing six 1/3 one-hit innings against the Athletics. In this start, he struck out three batters and walked five. Through 32 2/3 innings at Triple-A this season, the southpaw has posted a 3.31 ERA with a 1.13 WHIP. He has tallied 38 punchouts and walked 13 batters. Fantasy managers in deeper formats should view Cameron as a viable streaming option given his strong debut, but should not expect him to remain on the MLB roster following this start.

Tyler O'Neill (shoulder) was scratched from Friday's starting lineup against the Washington Nationals due to left-shoulder discomfort. O'Neill first felt it in the batting cage a few days ago, but it was especially sore on Friday. Manager Brandon Hyde said that O'Neill is being considered day-to-day. Ramon Laureano got the start in left field for the O's and was hitting in the cleanup spot against Nationals left-hander
MacKenzie Gore. While it doesn't sound like a serious injury, it's not great news for a player that was just activated from the injured list last Friday after a two-week absence due to neck inflammation. O'Neill has a nice power/speed combination, but he has trouble staying healthy and is hitting just .188 (15-for-80) with two homers, 10 RBI, nine runs and two steals in his first 24 games as an Oriole in 2025.

Aaron Nola (ankle) on the 15-day IL. However, Abel is only expected to receive one start as veteran
Taijuan Walker will replace Abel in the rotation next week. The former 15th overall pick is viewed as one of the top prospects in the Philadelphia system. Through his first 46 1/3 innings of work this season, the right-hander has performed well at Triple-A, holding a 2.53 ERA with a 1.21 WHIP. During this stint, he has struck out 51 batters and served up 19 walks. Last season at Triple-A, Abel struggled as he held a high 6.46 ERA. Given his progress this season, he will have streaming appeal in deeper formats facing the struggling Pirates.

The Minnesota Twins placed shortstop
Carlos Correa (concussion) on the seven-day concussion injured list on Friday, according to The Atheltic's Dan Hayes. Correa collided with outfielder
Byron Buxton, who is in the league's concussion protocol, in Thursday's win over the Baltimore Orioles. The 30-year-old was not in the starting lineup for Friday's series opener against the Milwaukee Brewers and will now sit out for an additional seven days, if not longer, depending on how he progresses through the league's protocols for head injuries. The earliest he'll be able to return will be May 23. Keep Correa stashed in all fantasy leagues while he recovers. In the meantime,
Brooks Lee, the eighth overall pick in 2022 out of Cal Poly, will function as Minnesota's primary shortstop. The 24-year-old switch-hitter will gain deep-league value in the short term. He enters Friday's action hitting .250 (25-for-100) with four homers and 10 RBI.

Cleveland Guardians second base prospect
Travis Bazzana (oblique) is being evaluated for a "right-side flank" injury. The former first overall pick from last year's MLB Draft exited early on Wednesday and was also held out of the starting nine on Thursday. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor his status as an extended absence could close the door on a 2025 MLB debut. After being drafted out of Oregon State, Bazzana made his professional debut with High-A Lake County and posted a .238/.369/.396 slash line with seven doubles and three home runs. He has spent the entire opening month of the 2025 season with Double-A Akron and has posted a modest .252/.362/.433 line. However, over his last 14 games, he has begun to find his power swing as he has posted a .519 SLG with a .886 OPS. If he continues to perform well, he could join Triple-A in the second half of the season.

The Washington Nationals activated second baseman
Luis Garcia Jr. off the paternity list on Friday and optioned infielder
Trey Lipscomb to Triple-A Rochester in a corresponding move. The Nationals have yet to release their starting lineup for Friday's series opener in Baltimore against the Orioles and left-hander
Cade Povich, but fantasy managers should expect Garcia to be back at second base. As far as whether to start the 25-year-old left-handed hitter in DFS lineups, that will only be for the bold. Garcia is hitting just .226 (30-for-133) in his first 38 games after a breakout season in 2024. He's also really struggled against lefties, going 2-for-20 against them with no homers and three RBI in 27 plate appearances. Garcia is hitting .184 (7-for-38) with a homer, two doubles, five RBI, two steals and eight strikeouts in 11 games in the month of May.
