Jackie Bradley Unlikely To Be Traded
7 years agoBoston Red Sox outfielder Jackie Bradley is unlikely to be traded after the team signed free-agent outfielder J.D. Martinez on Monday, according to sources. Boston's outfield is likely to consist of Andrew Benintendi in left field, Bradley in center and Mookie Betts in right, with Martinez the primary designated hitter. Bradley is still an elite defender, but his power took a big step backward in 2017, dropping from 26 homers in 2016 to just 17 last year, while hitting .244 with 63 RBI and eight steals. Bradley was strong in the first half but once again had a second-half collapse to lower his overall numbers. He's a streaky hitter who will likely frustrate his owners at times, and he could be in danger of losing playing time if he struggles out of the gates.
