Bryce Harper to Hit in Batting Cages This Week
Bryce Harper (wrist) progressed to hitting soft toss over the weekend and is now expected to hit in the batting cages either on Tuesday or Wednesday in Houston, according to MLB.com. Harper also played catch on the field on Friday prior to the team's divisional showdown against the New York Mets at Citizens Bank Park, but there remains no specific timeline for a return after he landed on the 10-day injured list on June 7 with right-wrist inflammation. The 32-year-old two-time MVP said he was playing through pain in his wrist from roughly mid-April until earlier this month. When Harper returns will essentially be a pain-management issue, but hopefully for his fantasy managers, he'll be back before the mid-July All-Star break. It's also impossible to say whether his wrist will flare up again later this season. For now, Harper must be stashed in all fantasy leagues.
