CFB DFS Rankings - Daily Fantasy College Football for Week 0 (Saturday August 27th)

Brad's CFB DFS rankings for Week 0 on 8/27/22. His daily fantasy college football rankings for QBs, RBs and WRs and the DFS slates on DraftKings and FanDuel.

Week 0 is here and so is the return of College Football DFS! Although there are always a lot of questions going into week 0, there should be a few solid options to choose from if you do enough digging. Most weeks, we will be doing a top-10 list, but with just six games on the DraftKings slate, we are doing just a top-five for both cash games and GPP's.

Unlike the NFL, colleges generally do not send out injury information and depth charts can be hard to come by, so keeping up on breaking news is critical. One change to a depth chart or injury report can suddenly push a minimum salary player into the starting lineup and allow you to load up on studs.

Another thing to monitor in college football is game stacking. This does happen in other DFS sports, but college football may be the easiest to do this in as some team totals far exceed others.

CFB DFS Quarterback Rankings

QB GPP Rankings  Per $ QB Cash Rankings Per $
1 APSU QB 1 Austin Reed
2 Casey Thompson 2 APSU QB
3 Jordan Travis 3 Jordan Travis
4 Austin Reed 4 Logan Bonner
5 UNLV QB 5 Casey Thompson

At quarterback, the transfer of Jarrett Doege opens the door for Austin Reed to be QB1 in what should be an explosive offense. It is worth noting that WKU did lose their high-powered offensive coordinator this offseason, but the principles of the offense should stay.

Jordan Travis also provides a nice level of stability, especially if Duquesne can put up a few points early. Be sure to keep an eye on the Austin Peay and UNLV quarterback battles as both will give you a cheap option for a team that could put up points in a plus match-up; however, neither has confirmed a number one starter at this point.

CFB DFS Running Back Rankings

RB GPP Rankings  Per $ RB Cash Rankings  Per $
1 Chase Brown 1 Calvin Tyler Jr.
2 Calvin Tyler Jr. 2 Chase Brown
3 Aidan Robbins 3 Treshaun Ward
4 Titus Swen 4 Titus Swen
5 Lawrence Toafili 5 Evan Hull

Running back looks to me like the most solid position of the day. Calvin Tyler Jr. and Chase Brown are in great match-ups and locked into big roles. Florida State should have no issue with the Dukes, but with both Ward and Toafili listed as starters, who gets in the endzone could determine who wins a GPP.

If you want to go super cheap, Aidan Robbins (Louisville transfer) appears to be the man at UNLV, but that could be risky as the Rebels have been a putrid offense for quite a while.

CFB DFS Wide Receiver Rankings

WR GPP Rankings  Per $ WR Cash Rankings  Per $
1 Daewood Davis 1 Mycah Pittman
2 Drae McCray 2 Malachi Corley
3 Dwayne Menders Jr 3 Daewood Davis
4 Mycah Pittman 4 Michael Mathison
5 Malachi Corley 5 Drae McCray

As stable as running back appears, wide receiver is a total dart through on this slate. You will notice three WKU pass-catchers in my cash game rankings, and that’s because they are the only team I trust to throw the ball with any volume. With so many likely blowouts, teams like Florida State, Utah State, and UNLV just may not have to go to the outside much.

Add to that teams like Illinois, Northwestern, and UConn who simply cannot throw and you have the recipe for bad wide receiver production. There are a couple of interesting options in Drae McCray and Dwayne Menders Jr., who could be on the wrong end of blowouts but may be in the game late to rack up some cheap stats late. Menders played his first few years at Marist but now does have a little NFL hype going to Duquesne for his last year.
