College Fantasy Football DFS Rankings: Week 3

Brad's CFB DFS rankings for Week on 9/18/21. His daily fantasy college football rankings for QBs, RBs and WRs and the DFS slates on DraftKings and FanDuel.

Week three in college DFS brings us very few great actual games, but there are some tasty DFS match-ups. It will also be interesting to see how name brands USC and FSU bounce back after losses last week and changes at head coach and quarterback respectively.

CFB DFS Quarterback Rankings

QB GPP Rankings  Per $ Cash Rankings  Per $
1 Jack Plummer 1 Spencer Rattler
2 Adrian Martinez 2 Sam Hartman
3 Spencer Rattler 3 Jayden de Laura
4 Jayden de Laura 4 Adrian Martinez
5 Kedon Slovis 5 Kedon Slovis
6 C.J. Stroud 6 C.J. Stroud
7 Bryce Young 7 D.J. Uiagalelei
8 D.J. Uiagalelei 8 Bryce Young
9 Grayson McCall 9 Desmond Ridder
10 Desmond Ridder 10 Jack Plummer
11 Braxton Burmeister 11 Jack Coan
12 McKenzie Milton 12 Grayson McCall
13 Jack Coan 13 Payton Thorne
14 D'Eriq King 14 D'Eriq King
15 Anthony Richardson 15 Braxton Burmeister

There are possibly some unexpected names on top of the GPP rankings as Jack Plummer and Adrian Martinez certainly don’t have the  pedigree of a Spencer Rattler or D.J. Uiagalelei. However, those two are in prime match-ups this week as Purdue takes on a Notre Dame and Nebraska faces Oklahoma. Both quarterbacks are more talented than the players who have already lit up those defenses, giving them big upside.

At the bottom of the GPP rankings, McKenzie Milton and Anthony Richardson still may be in time shares, but for their prices have upside. Richardson is coming off an injury, faces a tough defense, and may not start, so his ownership may be under 2%, which is certainly a pathway to winning a GPP.

CFB DFS Running Back Rankings

RB GPP Rankings  Per $ RB Cash Rankings  Per $
1 Kyren Williams 1 Trey Potts
2 Jerome Ford 2 Kyren Williams
3 Trey Potts 3 Reese White
4 TreVeyon Henderson 4 Kenneth Walker III
5 Kenneth Walker III 5 Leddie Brown
6 Reese White 6 Kevin Marks Jr.
7 Deneric Prince 7 Christian Beal-Smith
8 Leddie Brown 8 Deneric Prince
9 Kevin Marks Jr. 9 King Doerue
10 Christian Beal-Smith 10 Jerome Ford
11 Kennedy Brooks 11 Jashaun Corbin
12 Raheem Blackshear 12 TreVeyon Henderson
13 Jahmyr Gibbs 13 Max Borghi
14 Jashaun Corbin 14 Jarek Broussard
15 King Doerue 15 Miyan Williams

Running back is top heavy this week as Trey Potts, Kyren Williams and Kenneth Walker III should all be rock solid options in all formats given their big workloads. The other interesting spot will be the Ohio State backfield against a Tulsa team that should not be able to stop their ground game. It is a risk, but as North Carolina showed last year, in the right match-up there is plenty of merit to playing multiple running backs from the same team when they have a massive team total.

As far as low end plays, the likes of Jahmyr Gibbs and Kevin Marks Jr. have not quite lived up to their preseason hype, but have the ability to be game changers. In tough match-ups, expect both to be fairly low owned.

CFB DFS Wide Receiver Rankings

WR GPP Rankings  Per $ WR Cash Rankings  Per $
1 Garrett Wilson 1 Garrett Wilson
2 Samouri Toure 2 David Bell
3 Marvin Mims 3 Jaquarii Roberson
4 Jaquarii Roberson 4 Samori Toure
5 Javion Heiligh 5 Michael Mayer
6 Jadon Haselwood 6 Chris Olave
7 David Bell 7 Tahj Washington
8 Michael Mayer 8 Javion Heiligh
9 Dylan Wright 9 Payne Durham
10 Jameson Williams 10 Calvin Jackson Jr
11 Quian Williams 11 Dylan Wright
12 Joseph Ngata 12 Quian Williams
13 Jayden Reed 13 Marvin Mims
14 Payne Durham 14 Sam James
15 Alec Pierce 15 Keylon Stokes

Clearly Draftkings did not learn from last week as Garrett Wilson was mega-chalk, and despite a 8-117-1 performance, the Ohio State star only got a $500 price bump. So Wilson will again be incredibly highly owned again, but fade as your own risk.

After Wilson, there are several safe options including David Bell, Jaquarii Roberson and Samouri Toure who are all in plus match-ups. The bottom of the wide receiver ranks are often filled with cheap recievers in games where their teams may not keep it that close. Keylon Stokes and Quian Williams may rack up some nice junk time yardage, while plays like Jameson Williams and Marvin Mims could put up big numbers only to see limited snaps if they blowout their opponents.
