San Francisco Giants first baseman Brandon Belt is a fantasy baseball waiver wire pickup and add heading into Week 7 of the MLB season.

ANALYSIS: Brandon Belt had an unbelievable 2020 season, producing a .309/.425/.591 slash line with a 172 wRC+ across 179 plate appearances in the shortened year. Apparently, that wasn't enough to convince fantasy managers to take a chance on Belt this year, as he has still not eclipsed the 50 percent rostered plateau in 2021 despite continued production.

For 2021, Belt is once again putting together an excellent stat line, slashing .232/.358/.505 with eight home runs, 17 runs scored, and 21 RBI. Belt offers an excellent combination of power and patience. He is in the 94th and 99th percentiles in hard-hit rate and barrel percentage, and in fact he has been at or above the 87th percentile in barrel percentage in five of the last seven seasons. In regards to plate discipline, Belt is in the 94th percentile in walk rate, and the 92nd percentile in chase rate for this year, and once again has a long track record of excellence in each of those categories.
Belt has been particularly hot over the last week, slashing .238/.407/.667 with three of his homers coming in that span while batting in the middle of the surprisingly-potent Giants lineup. Fantasy managers should strike now and add Belt in all leagues 12 teams or larger before competitors come around to what a steady, hidden gem Belt is.
