Week 3 Fantasy Football Outlooks
Below are some fantasy football outlooks written by our NFL team here at RotoBaller, bringing you their fantasy football analysis and advice on which players to consider starting in Week 3:
Garrett Wilson, New York Jets
New York Jets wide receiver Garrett Wilson caught five of seven targets for 57 yards and a touchdown against Green Bay, giving him 11 catches for 136 yards through two games. Adonai Mitchell drew more targets last week, but Wilson remains Geno Smith's top established option and has caught Smith's only passing touchdown of the season. Detroit has already given up six passing touchdowns through two games.
Tyler Shough threw for 410 yards and three scores against the Lions in Week 1, and Josh Allen added another three touchdowns last Thursday. RotoBaller ranks Wilson as the WR12 for Week 3. Mitchell's growing role gives New York another legitimate option on the other side, but Wilson remains an easy fantasy start and carries WR1 upside in this matchup.
Saquon Barkley, Philadelphia Eagles
Philadelphia Eagles running back Saquon Barkley (neck) said he is feeling good this week and will be wearing a neck cowboy collar on Monday night in the Week 3 game against the Chicago Bears, according to Dave Zangaro of NBC Sports. Barkley underwent an MRI exam early this week to make sure there was no additional damage in his neck/shoulder after he suffered a stinger in the Week 2 win over the Tennessee Titans on Sunday.
The Eagles listed Barkley as limited in practice on Thursday, but he was able to upgrade to full on Friday, suggesting he could be cleared from the final Week 3 injury report on Saturday. Backup Tank Bigsby (abdomen) came out of Sunday's game with an abdomen issue, but he was able to return to a limited practice on Friday after being held out on Thursday.
Barkley gave his fantasy managers a dud in Week 2 with only four carries for nine yards and one catch for 11 yards, but he will be back in must-start territory against the Bears on Monday night now that he has recovered from the stinger he suffered on Sunday.
Malik Washington, Miami Dolphins
Miami Dolphins wide receiver Malik Washington is in position as the team's clear top wide receiver with rookie Caleb Douglas (ankle) sidelined in Week 3 against the Chiefs.
Washington leads the team in targets and routes run already this year, totaling seven catches for 96 yards and adding a four-yard rush over the first two weeks. Washington and the Dolphins are in a tough matchup in Week 3 at home against the Chiefs, who have allowed the third-fewest fantasy points to wide receivers this season.
Even with more work available, he remains a high-risk play since the Dolphins' passing game has struggled so much in the first two weeks of the season. In RotoBaller's Week 3 rankings, Washington is the highest-ranked wide receiver on the Dolphins but still checks in at WR47, making him not a strong starter in most formats.
Kayshon Boutte, Houston Texans
Houston Texans wide receiver Kayshon Boutte will get another chance to step up for his new team with Nico Collins (hamstring) set to miss a second straight game. Boutte caught three of five targets for 37 yards, tying Xavier Hutchinson for the most receptions and receiving yards of the wide receivers against the Bengals.
He gets a favorable matchup against the Colts, who have allowed the fourth-most fantasy points to wide receivers, but he remains a high-risk play in most formats since he is big-play reliant and is still adjusting to Houston's offense and playbook. In RotoBaller's Week 3 rankings, Boutte is the WR54, indicating he's best left on your bench or waiver wire unless you're desperate or in a very deep league.
Wan'Dale Robinson, Tennessee Titans
Tennessee Titans wide receiver Wan'Dale Robinson returns to MetLife Stadium on Sunday after spending his first four NFL seasons with the Giants. Robinson opened his Titans career with five catches for 38 yards against the Jets, but his role diminished against Philadelphia, when he caught his only target for nine yards. He now has only six receptions for 47 yards through two games, despite entering the season as one of quarterback Cam Ward's expected top targets.
The revenge-game narrative is fun, but the matchup gives fantasy managers a more legitimate reason to be optimistic. New York has allowed over 500 passing yards and six passing touchdowns through two games, including Davante Adams' 195-yard, two-touchdown performance last Monday night. Robinson's one-target showing in Week 2 is concerning, so he is not a must-start, but he remains a reasonable PPR FLEX with bounce-back potential against his former team.
