Who's the backup to the 5'9", 191-pound running back with a history of injuries?
That's the big question in Miami. At various points this season, we've seen Jaylen Wright and Ollie Gordon II both take on the role of De'Von Achane's backup. And, with Achane injuring his ribs and leaving Miami's Week 13 win early, the answer to that question becomes more important.

Jaylen Wright Fantasy Football Waiver Wire Outlook
Jaylen Wright opened training camp with the inside track to winning the number two job. However, after an ineffective preseason, the buzz started to shift toward Ollie Gordon. A knee injury before the regular season kicked off gave the job to Gordon.
But we play fantasy football, and there's a lot of 'What have you done for me lately?' around here. Although both scored a touchdown, it was Wright, not Gordon, who handled the bulk of the opportunities after Achane's injury on Sunday.

Wright rushed 24 times (fourth among all running backs this week entering Monday Night Football) for 107 yards and his first career touchdown against the New York Jets. The Dolphins won't always have a multi-touchdown lead and the luxury of calling that many running plays, but Gordon still handled only five carries. For Week 13, at least, the backup job was Wright's.
Ollie Gordon II Fantasy Football Waiver Wire Outlook
There was a point this season that Gordon was more of an annoyance than an asset. As a bigger back, he stole goal-line touchdowns from Achane. However, it was clear that the rookie was Achane's backup, and he was rostered as such.
But that's about all he's done so far in his debut campaign. His 3.3 yards per carry average isn't anything to write home about. He's only reached double-digit carries in one of 13 games. He's never seen more than one target in any game and hasn't caught a pass since Week 9.

Still, Gordon picked up another touchdown, his fourth this season, against the Jets. Once again, as has been the case for his other rushing touchdowns, it came from within the 10-yard line. The rookie has a nose for the endzone.
Should I Pick Up Jaylen Wright or Ollie Gordon II For Fantasy Football?
The debate over Miami's backup may be all for naught.
Following the game, head coach Mike McDaniel told reporters that Achane wanted to return to the game, but he held him out, given Miami's big lead. The MRI revealed nothing significant, and he may be able to play in Week 15.

The big problem here, however, is that the Dolphins play on Monday night next week. If there is any question about Achane's availability late in the week, a backup running back must be stashed. For Achane managers, that move should be made during the first run of waivers. Ensure you have a starting running back for the fantasy playoffs.
That addition should be Wright. Following the game, McDaniel noted that Wright has been as good as he's been since he arrived, following his slow start to the season.
