Will Amon-Ra St. Brown play today for Week 14 Monday Night Football (TNF)? Is Amon-Ra St. Brown playing or out? The latest Amon-Ra St. Brown injury report and fantasy updates.
Detroit Lions wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown (ankle) suffered an ankle injury in his Week 13 contest against the Green Bay Packers. He was subsequently taken to the locker room for further medical evaluation.
Unfortunately, he was ruled out of that game with the injury. The Lions didn't have much time between that game and their next, as they're slated to face the Dallas Cowboys on Thursday Night Football tonight for Week 14.
Anything can happen, but he was held out as more than just a precautionary measure. So will he be able to play in Week 14? Let's dive in.

Amon-Ra St. Brown Fantasy Football Injury Update
St. Brown is dealing with a low-ankle sprain. In terms of the rest of the season, that's fantastic news. High-ankle sprains can cause players to miss three or more weeks, but low-ankle sprains sometimes lead to no absence at all or just one or two games missed.
The latest reporting suggests, though, that he won't be able to play tonight. It's just too quick of a turnaround. He'd probably be running too high of a risk of re-injury and playing through a ridiculous amount of pain. He's very tough, but it's about protecting him from himself.

You can see the video of the play on which St. Brown is rolled up on above. It's a classic mechanism for an ankle sprain. We can be glad it's not a high-ankle issue. But if you have him on your fantasy teams, you should be preparing for him to miss today's contest.
Unsurprisingly, he hasn't practiced at all this week.
Amon-Ra St. Brown Fantasy Football Injury Impact
While he won't play in this game, it's possible he could have decreased production moving forward. The Lions are in the thick of playoff contention, and if they don't want to collapse, they'll need him playing as much as possible. The LaPorta injury has hurt this offense in a big way.
NFL players returning from ankle sprains often don't produce as well in their first few games back. This is moreso true for high-ankle sprains, but applies to low-ankle sprains as well. He'll likely still get a huge share of the team's targets and receiving yards, though.

He's one of the best and most consistent wideouts in the NFL. He's not a speedster, but wins with route-running precision, great hands, excellent strength at the catch point, and being on the same page with his quarterback, which he does a great job of.
St. Brown is incredibly difficult to cover on horizontally-breaking routes because of his shiftiness, and is quite capable after the catch as well. He's been fantastic ever since the final stretch of his rookie season, and there's no reason to believe he won't keep smashing.

He should be a key component of every fantasy team that has him through the fantasy playoffs, where he often has some of his best performances. Detroit will have plenty to play for, too. St. Brown struggled with unreported wrist and thumb injuries earlier in the season, which could explain his short struggle with drops.
But he should be fine in that area when he comes back, and while he might be a bit slowed-down in Week 15, it might not matter much. An elite player playing at 90 percent is often still an elite player regardless of injury woes. He should be started in all leagues without question in every game he plays.
