In (yet another) underwhelming season for tight ends, three names have emerged as start candidates at various points this year.
Jonnu Smith is the talk of the tight-end town. Tucker Kraft held that title earlier this season. Luke Schoonmaker intrigues fantasy managers in place of Jake Ferguson.
Which of these tight ends, if any, should fantasy managers start in Week 13? Let's break down their fantasy outlooks.
Should I Start Jonnu Smith for Fantasy Football?
On an offense rostering stars Tyreek Hill, Jaylen Waddle, and De'Von Achane, Jonnu Smith has been the coveted fantasy asset in Miami. He's been the TE1 since Week 9 and logged 23+ point stat lines in back-to-back weeks.

There are concerns about how efficient Tua Tagovailoa and the Miami offense will be in colder weather in Green Bay (Tagovailoa is 0-7 in games under 40 degrees). Still, it's impossible to shy away from Smith right now. The Packers are below average (11th) against the position for fantasy football.
Should I Start Tucker Kraft for Fantasy Football?
Tucker Kraft has been a touchdown-dependent tight end. His highest target total since Week 4 is six. Since his two-touchdown outburst in Week 5, Kraft has recorded three games with touchdowns and three under 8 PPR points (including one goose egg).
Wide receiver Romeo Doubs (concussion) won't play on Thursday night. There's an uncertain discussion about which receiver (Bo Melton, Dontayvion Wicks, or Malik Heath) will benefit from his absence. The answer is Kraft.

Doubs and Christian Watson were inactive for Kraft's 88-yard, two-touchdown game. Doubs is the shorter-area receiver for Jordan Love. Watson and Jayden Reed are the deep threats. Kraft could see more underneath looks.
He's still outside of the top 12 in the rankings this week but fantasy managers desperate for tight end help may be able to find Kraft on the waiver wire.
Should I Start Luke Schoonmaker for Fantasy Football?
How can you get away from a tight who has scored double-digit PPR points in consecutive games? Luke Schoonmaker did a better Jake Ferguson impression than Ferguson himself (Ferguson hasn't scored a touchdown yet).
The Giants are the second-best defense against fantasy football tight ends this season. They've allowed the fewest receptions (39), third-fewest yards (388), and just one touchdown. However, they've avoided Brock Bowers, George Kittle, Trey McBride, and other top tight ends, so there are some skeptics of their success.
The Cowboys' offense is still a disaster with Cooper Rush under center and Schoonmaker's touchdown versus Washington was due to blown coverage.
