Fantasy Football Matchup Outlooks

Below are some fantasy football outlooks written by our NFL team here at RotoBaller, bringing you their fantasy football analysis and advice on which players to consider starting in Week 17:

Parker Washington, WR, Jacksonville Jaguars

Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Parker Washington is coming off a week 16 win over the Broncos in which he caught six of nine targets for a career-high 145 yards and a touchdown, and he will be a popular waiver addition heading into fantasy championships. While he is capable of providing a relatively safe floor as part of a Jaguars' offense that has seen Trevor Lawrence flourish of late under the tutelage of first-year head coach Liam Coen, it's important to consider the context behind his Week 16 explosion.

With Broncos' All-Pro cornerback Pat Surtain II shadowing Jakobi Meyers and Brian Thomas Jr. for most of the game, the Jaguars leaned heavily on Washington and tight end Brenton Strange. Against the Colts in Week 17, Jacksonville should see its primary pass catchers more involved, especially if Sauce Gardner, who did not practice at all before missing his third consecutive game, is unable to suit up again.

Taysom Hill, TE, New Orleans Saints

After recording more than seven touches in just one game before Week 16, New Orleans Saints tight end Taysom Hill saw a significant workload increase in his team's Week 16 win over the New York Jets. Hill recorded 12 carries for 48 yards and four receptions for 36 yards on six targets. The Saints will be without running backs Kendre Miller (knee) and Devin Neal (hamstring) for the remainder of the 2025 season, and veteran back Alvin Kamara (knee, ankle) has missed four straight games.

If Kamara remains sidelined for the Saints' Week 17 matchup against the Tennessee Titans, Hill could see another week with a sizable role in the offense. Hill has proven to be a red zone threat throughout the course of his career, as he's scored 34 rushing touchdowns on 486 career carries. In fantasy leagues with 12 or more teams, Hill is a player to target on the waiver wire heading into Week 17.

Tre Tucker, WR, Las Vegas Raiders

Las Vegas Raiders wide receiver Tre Tucker tallied four receptions and 43 yards off his five targets during Sunday's 23-21 loss to the Houston Texans in Week 16. Interestingly, Tucker also logged two rushing attempts for 11 yards, demonstrating intent to get the third-year receiver more involved in the offense. Tucker still has not seen the end zone since Week 11 against the Dallas Cowboys, but getting five targets was his most involvement in the passing game since Week 7.

The Las Vegas Raiders will face the New York Giants at home in Week 17, whose defense is a top-five matchup for wide receivers on the season. Also, veteran wide receiver Tyler Lockett (wrist) left the Week 16 game early with an apparent wrist injury. If he misses Week 17, Tucker and rookie wide receiver Jack Bech should be the primary beneficiaries of his absence. Despite Tucker's uptick in touches in Week 16, he is still an unreliable start outside deep leagues for the fantasy championships against the New York Giants.

Jawhar Jordan, RB, Houston Texans

Despite spending most of the season off his team's active roster, Houston Texans running back Jawhar Jordan has emerged as a major contributor over the last two weeks. With Texans RB1 Woody Marks (ankle) battling an ankle injury, Jordan has recorded 188 scrimmage yards on 37 touches over his past two games. Despite veteran back Nick Chubb making his return in Week 16 from a rib injury that sidelined him in Week 15, Jordan worked as Houston's lead back. In Week 16, Jordan out-snapped Chubb 30 to 21 and out-touched him 17 to seven.

If Marks remains sidelined for the team's Week 17 matchup against the Los Angeles Chargers, Jordan could see another game with a heavy workload. Jordan is worth targeting on the waiver wire heading into Week 17, just in case Marks is unable to make his return.

Tyjae Spears, RB, Tennessee Titans

Tennessee Titans running back Tyjae Spears notched his best outing of the 2025 season in Sunday's 26-9 home win against the Kansas City Chiefs, totaling 105 scrimmage yards and a touchdown. Spears' 18 touches in Week 16 are the most he'd handled all campaign, and it marked the fourth time in his last six appearances that he'd commanded at least five targets. Moreover, it was the first time he'd seen double-digit carries.

While it's likely the uptick in work came from Tennessee deftly handling a visiting Chiefs squad, there's no denying the Tulane product is a talented athlete. For now, Spears is better suited for deep leagues, but his work in the receiving game keeps him in the range of a low-end flex in PPR formats. At the very least, he boasts high-end handcuff appeal. Tennessee gets an exploitable Saints' defense in Week 17.

Emanuel Wilson, RB, Green Bay Packers

Green Bay Packers running back Emanuel Wilson could be a top waiver wire priority this week, as the Packers get ready to host the Ravens on Saturday. The team could be without Jordan Love (concussion) and Josh Jacobs (knee) for that matchup, and Wilson has proven he can be a fantasy factor if he takes over for Jacobs as the primary option.

Last week, Wilson ran for 82 yards on 14 carries against the Bears, while Jacobs had just 36 yards on 12 carries. Wilson also starred in Green Bay's win over the Packers when Jacobs was injured, racking up 107 rushing yards and two touchdowns on 28 carries in that week. The Ravens have been a great matchup for running backs this season, and if Wilson gets the start, he could be a true difference-maker in Week 17.
