Brener lost back-to-back fights and is currently 3-2 in the UFC. First, got beaten by Myktybek Orolbai back in March at UFC 301 via unanimous decision. He was last seen in action in August 2024 at UFC Abu Dhabi, where he lost to Joel Alvarez via third-round TKO. DraftKings sees Brener as a significant underdog with a salary of $7,100.--Alen KurbasicSource: UFC

Esteban Ribovics will look to get back in the win column when he takes on Elves Brener on the main card of UFC Vegas 108 on Saturday. Since signing with the leading promotion in 2023, Ribovics has gone 3-2. He signed with the UFC after defeating Thomas Paull via first-round TKO on Dana White's Contender Series. Ribovics was last seen in action in March at UFC Vegas 103, where he dropped a split decision to Nasrat Haqparast. DraftKings sees Ribovics as a big favorite with a salary of $9,100. --Alen KurbasicSource: UFC

Elizeu Zaleski dos Santos will look to bounce back in the win column when he takes on Neil Magny on the main card of UFC Vegas 108 on Saturday. Zaleski dos Santos last competed back in March at UFC Vegas 104, where he lost to Chidi Njokuani via second-round TKO. Prior to his bout with Njokuani, Zaleski dos Santos fought at UFC Vegas 100, where he defeated Zach Scroggin via first-round TKO. DraftKings sees Zaleski dos Santos as the favorite with a salary of $8,800.--Alen KurbasicSource: UFC

Karol Rosa will look to get back in the win column when she takes on Nora Cornolle on the main card of UFC Vegas 108. Rosa made his UFC debut back in August 2019, where she defeated Lara Procopio by split decision. Since signing with the UFC, she has gone 7-4. She was last seen in action in January at UFC 311, where she lost to Ailin Perez via unanimous decision. Prior to that, Rosa defeated Pannie Kianzad via unanimous decision. DraftKings sees Rosa as the favorite with a salary of $8,600.--Alen KurbasicSource: UFC

Nora Cornolle will look to win back-to-back fights as she takes on Karol Rosa on the main card of UFC Vegas 108 on Saturday. Carnolle was last seen in action in April at UFC Paris, where she defeated Hailey Cowan via second-round submission. It should be noted that she missed weight for her fight against Cowan in Miami at UFC 314 in April. Prior to that, Carnolle lost to Jacqueline Cavalcanti via split decision. DraftKings sees Carnolle as the underdog with a salary of $7,600.--Alen KurbasicSource: UFC

Neil Magny will look to return to the win column when he takes on Elizeu Zaleski dos Santos on the main card of UFC Vegas 108 on Saturday. Magny's pro record is 29-13 and he's coming off the back-to-back first-round stoppage losses. First, he was finished by Michael Morales via first-round TKO, and more recently, he suffered a first-round knockout at the hands of Carlos Prates. Since signing with the UFC, Magny has gone 22-12. DraftKings sees Magny as the underdog with a salary of $7,400.--Alen KurbasicSource: UFC

Kevin Vallejos will look to remain undefeated in the UFC when he takes on Danny Silva on the UFC Vegas 108 main card opener. Silva earned his UFC contract in 2024 after finishing Cam Teague via first-round TKO on Dana White's Contender Series. That was the second time he competed on Dana White's Contender Series after being unsuccessful the first time. The first time he competed in Contender Series was in 2023, and he lost his bout to Jean Silva via unanimous decision. Vallejos made his UFC debut in his last fight at UFC Vegas 104, where he finished Seung Woo Choi via first-round TKO. DraftKings sees Vallejos as a massive favorite with a salary of $9,400.--Alen KurbasicSource: UFC

Danny Silva will look to extend his win streak when he takes on Kevin Vallejos on the UFC Vegas 108 main card opener on Saturday. In 2023, Silva signed with the leading promotion after beating Angel Pacheco via unanimous decision on Dana White's Contender Series. Pacheco made his UFC debut at UFC Vegas 88, where he defeated Josh Culibao via split decision. Silva is currently on a four-fight win streak. DraftKings sees Silva as a significant underdog with a salary of $6,800.--Alen KurbasicSource: UFC

The New York Mets acquired center fielder Cedric Mullins from the Orioles for right-handed pitching prospects Raimon Gomez, Anthony Nunez, and Chandler Marsh. Nunez is a reliever who's only been pitching for roughly a year and ranked as the number 14 prospect in the Mets system by MLB Pipeline. He boasts a 60-grade slider and changeup, both of which are capable of generating swing and miss, and have fueled him to a 1.58 ERA, 0.60 WHIP, and a 40 percent strikeout rate in 40 innings between High-A and Double-A this season. His fastball reaches 96 mph, and he also mixes in a cutter. While there's some potential for Núñez to develop into more, he most likely profiles as a reliever.--Kyle McCarthySource: Anthony DiComo

The Baltimore Orioles traded centerfielder Cedric Mullins for right-handed pitching prospects Raimon Gomez, Anthony Nunez, and Chandler Marsh. Gomez has electric stuff with a fastball that sits near triple digits and hit 104.5 mph at one point this season, to go with a low-90s slider that can rack up a bunch of whiffs. He rounds out his arsenal with a sinker, curveball, and cutter. Consistently throwing strikes is the biggest question for the 23-year-old, with 20-grade command. He owns a 4.63 ERA, 1.34 WHIP, and a 30.4% strikeout rate in 35 innings, mostly in relief between Low-A and High-A this season. Gomez induces a ton of weak contact and a healthy rate of groundball rate at 52.3% this year. However, his walk rate is half of his strikeout rate at 15.8%. He profiles as a reliever due to this flaw, but he has the upside to be one of the nastier arms in the future.--Kyle McCarthySource: Anthony DiComo

The New York Yankees sent catcher prospect Edgleen Perez, along with prospects Rafael Flores and Brian Sanchez, to the Pirates for David Bednar. Perez was the No. 14 prospect in the Yankees system and profiles as a plus defensive catcher. His offense is a work in progress for the 19-year-old, but he has shown excellent patience with a 17.9% walk rate at Low-A this year, but just a .209 batting average and .236 slugging percentage. He was much more productive in rookie ball in 2024, hitting .283/.444/.380 with a 136 wRC+ in 216 plate appearances. Perez perojects to have the highest ceiling of the prospects included in the deal, but the lowest floor as well given his age and struggles at the plate this season.--Kyle McCarthySource: Stephen J. Nesbitt

Los Angeles Chargers rookie running back Omarion Hampton started in Thursday's Hall of Fame Game against the Detroit Lions, rushing twice for nine yards in the Chargers' 34-7 victory. Hampton showed his signature burst and tackle-breaking ability on his first carry, an eight-yard gain, but failed to cut upfield on his second, falling just short of a first down. While he was limited to only one drive, the 2025 first-round pick looks poised to take on a larger role in Greg Roman's ground-and-pound offense as Najee Harris (eye) is still dealing with an ambiguous eye injury. RotoBaller has Hampton projected for 1,210 yards and 10 TDs, with a current RB15 ranking that could rise depending on the severity and duration of Harris's injury.--Don FanelliSource: NFL

The Boston Red Sox traded first base prospect Blaze Jordan for left-handed pitcher Steven Matz from the Cardinals, according to Jeff Passan of ESPN. Jordan ranked as the number 24 prospect in the Red Sox system by MLB Pipeline, and has put together a strong season between Double-A and Triple-A this season. The 22-year-old is hitting .308/.377/.495 with 12 home runs, three stolen bases, and a 140 wRC+ in 358 plate appearances across the two levels. The hard-hit rate is subpar at 32.9%, but he does have decent raw power with a 110.1 mph MaxEV while making a lot of contact. His below-average chase rate leads to poor contact quality, but there are some positive elements to build on. He could be someone to monitor in super deep formats and NL-only leagues.--Kyle McCarthySource: Jeff Passan

Toronto Blue Jays outfielder Anthony Santander (shoulder) has been making much slower progress than expected, but there is progress being made, reports Ben Nicholson-Smith of Sportsnet.ca. It's a tiny bit encouraging to hear some progress is being made, but based on prior reports, he is still at least one week away from even being cleared to swing a bat. The 30-year-old hasn't played since May 30 due to a left shoulder subluxation and has been stuck in this same spot in his rehab for over a month. It's looking more and more like a lost season for the slugger, who batted just .179 with six home runs in 50 games prior to his injury.--Jeremy HeistSource: Ben Nicholson-Smith

The New York Mets traded right-handed pitching prospect Nate Dohm, along with infield prospect Jesus Baez and pitching prospect Frank Elissalt, in exchange for reliever Ryan Helsley from the Cardinals. Dohm was. The number 14 prospect in the Mets system, according to MLB Pipeline. The 2024 third-round pick has pitched 62.2 innings this season between Low-A and High-A in the Mets system, collecting a 2.87 ERA, 1.26 WHIP, and a 20.2% K-BB%. The 6'4" righty throws from a 5.7' release height and features a four-seamer that sits around 93 mph with high carry, consistently locates it in the zone, and generates a 13% swinging strike rate. He rounds out his arsenal with a gyro slider, changeup, and curveball that have had mixed results. The development of his secondary pitches will be an area to watch for him as he enters the St. Louis farm system, beginning at High-A Peoria.--Kyle McCarthySource: Will Sammon

Athletics starting pitcher Luis Morales is expected to be promoted to the major leagues on Friday, reports Francys Romero of Beisbol FR. He is the A's third-best prospect according to MLB.com and will look to carry over his Triple-A success into the big leagues. In 89 ⅓ innings in the minors this season, he has posted a 3.73 ERA and 1.14 WHIP with 107 strikeouts and 35 walks. The 22-year-old was a starter for the majority of the season before shifting to relief recently, so it's not clear what type of role he will assume in the majors. A spot in the rotation did just open up with JP Sears being dealt to the Padres, and there is currently no probable pitcher listed for Friday's game. It could just be a spot start, but it's worth monitoring in deep fantasy leagues as Morales has great swing-and-miss stuff.--Jeremy HeistSource: Francys Romero

Detroit Lions rookie wide receiver Dominic Lovett was targeted nine times during his team's 34-7 preseason loss to the Los Angeles Chargers, hauling in five catches for 31 yards. The 22-year-old also featured prominently on special teams, returning a kick for 22 yards and a punt for 19. A seventh-round pick out of Georgia, Lovett recorded 59 catches for 607 yards and six touchdowns in 14 games with the Bulldogs last season. He figures to be competing with veteran Kalif Raymond for Detroit's WR4/return specialist role. Raymond has been a steady contributor across four seasons in Detroit heading into 2025, but he's entering his age-31 season, and his 17 catches in 2024 were his fewest since 2020. Lovett would need multiple injuries in the Lions' receiver room to be fantasy relevant in 2025, but a strong preseason could assure him of a roster spot.--Will BradySource: ESPN.com

Los Angeles Chargers quarterback Trey Lance made a strong statement in the Hall of Fame Game, completing 13-of-20 passes for 120 yards and two touchdowns while rushing for eight yards on three carries in Thursday's 34-7 victory over the Lions. Lance, who only started one game with Dallas last season, showed poise and good technique throughout the night, capitalizing on multiple Detroit turnovers. His first touchdown came on the Chargers' first drive, a perfect five-yard pass to Will Dissly. The 25-year-old added his second score just before halftime with a 15-yard slant to Keandre Lambert-Smith. While the performance was encouraging, Lance faced a Lions' backup defense and is still listed third on the depth chart behind Justin Herbert and Taylor Heinicke. Fantasy managers should be cautious not to overreact to the performance until further preseason games are played, but a strong start nonetheless from the former first-round pick of the 2021 draft.--Don FanelliSource: NFL

San Diego Padres catcher Martin Maldonado was designated for assignment on Thursday as part of a flurry of roster moves made in conjunction with five trades on deadline day by San Diego. One of those trades involved acquiring Freddy Fermin from the Royals, who will take over as the main option behind the dish and bump Maldonado off the roster entirely. The 38-year-old could find himself on a new team within the coming days, but his .204 batting average and .245 on-base percentage are far from inspiring. As bad as it seems, this would be the first season where he's posted a batting average above .200 since 2020, so the veteran is pretty much tapped out offensively.--Jeremy HeistSource: San Diego Padres

Chicago Cubs relief pitcher Ryan Pressly was designated for assignment on Thursday. This was the corresponding move to make room for Taylor Rogers on the 40-man roster, who they acquired from Pittsburgh at the trade deadline. This season has been a huge disappointment for the veteran, who was expected to earn the bulk of the save opportunities for the club. He last served as a full-time closer in 2023 when he saved 31 games for the Astros, but he posted a 4.36 ERA and 1.52 WHIP in 2025 and was quickly booted from ninth-inning duties in favor of Daniel Palencia. He could find himself a new home for the final two months of the year if another team claims him on waivers or he hits free agency.--Jeremy HeistSource: Chicago Cubs

Detroit Lions running back Craig Reynolds led his team in rushing yards during the team's 34-7 preseason loss to the Los Angeles Chargers on Thursday night. Reynolds finished with 10 carries for 38 yards and one touchdown as a rusher, adding one catch for 10 yards as a receiver. The 29-year-old running back is entering his seventh NFL season and has been with Detroit since 2021. In 34 games for the Lions since the start of 2023, Reynolds has logged 72 carries for 318 yards and one touchdown. He appears to be fairly locked into the RB3 role in Detroit behind Jahmyr Gibbs and David Montgomery. Reynolds would need an injury to one of those two backs to be relevant in fantasy, and even then, he would likely be a fringe flex option at best.--Will BradySource: ESPN.com

Detroit Lions quarterback Hendon Hooker struggled in his 2025 preseason debut, a 34-7 loss to the Los Angeles Chargers. Hooker played the entire second half and finished three-for-six through the air for 18 passing yards, zero touchdowns, and an interception. Hooker was also sacked twice for a loss of five total yards. A third-round pick out of Tennessee in the 2023 draft, Hooker has failed to nail down the backup job in Detroit behind Jared Goff as he enters the third year of his career. Hooker is battling veteran Kyle Allen for the role heading into 2025, and it was Allen who earned the start in the Lions' first preseason game. While he will certainly get more chances throughout the remainder of the preseason, it's clear Hooker has more work to do to earn the trust of his coaching staff.--Will BradySource: ESPN.com

Detroit Tigers pitcher Troy Melton will be shifting from the rotation to the bullpen, reports Chris McCosky of The Detroit News. The rookie was lit up in his first start on July 23 to the tune of six runs in five innings, but bounced back with seven shutout innings against the Diamondbacks on July 28. Unfortunately, that wasn't enough to earn another turn in the rotation with the Tigers acquiring both Chris Paddack and Charlie Morton at the trade deadline. The 24-year-old can be safely disregarded for fantasy purposes, although Detroit will be hoping for some meaningful relief innings from him as they prep for a probable playoff run.--Jeremy HeistSource: Chris McCosky

Detroit Lions quarterback Kyle Allen had a rough night in his first preseason appearance with the team against the Los Angeles Chargers. Allen started the game and played the entire first half, finishing 9-for-14 through the air for 91 passing yards, zero touchdowns, and two interceptions. The 29-year-old is competing with Hendon Hooker for the backup job behind Jared Goff in Detroit. Allen has played for five teams in his seven-year NFL career, appearing in 31 games (19 starts). For his career, he's completed 62.7% of his 705 career pass attempts for 4,753 yards with 26 touchdowns and 21 interceptions. Without a proven backup quarterback in place, an injury to Goff would significantly impact the outlook of Detroit's skill-position players.--Will BradySource: ESPN.com

Boston Red Sox second baseman Marcelo Mayer (wrist) still doesn't have a clear diagnosis or recovery timeline surrounding his injured wrist. The Red Sox are still collecting information about the injury, reports Gabrielle Starr of the Boston Herald. Mayer was placed on the injured list retroactive to July 24 with a sprained wrist and underwent an MRI last week, but the reports apparently weren't clear. The 22-year-old is eligible to return early next week on August 4, but it seems like the youngster is set to miss more time than the minimum. He's had an underwhelming rookie campaign so far, slashing .228/.272/.402, but the former top prospect should get more chances to prove himself once healthy.--Jeremy HeistSource: Gabrielle Starr

New York Giants offensive lineman Evan Neal had "a few clear whiffs" while working with the first-team offense at right guard, according to Dan Duggan of The Athletic. Neal got the chance to step in with the first team due to projected starter Greg Van Roten (personal) missing practice. The number seven overall selection in the 2022 draft, Neal has struggled for the past three seasons while playing tackle. The team announced it was moving him inside to guard coming into the 2025 season, where he projects as a depth piece behind Van Roten and starting left guard Jon Runyan. The Giants' offensive line has been a consistent weakness for the team in recent seasons, so they'll need improved play from the group to get the best out of new quarterback Russell Wilson and superstar wide receiver Malik Nabers.--Will BradySource: The Athletic - Dan Duggan
