Roman Anthony Dealing With Back Tightness
Roman Anthony (back) was scratched from Monday's series opener against the Kansas City Royals with mid-back tightness, according to the team. Wilyer Abreu entered the starting lineup in the two-hole in the batting order and made the start in right field against Royals left-hander Bailey Falter, while Rob Refsnyder got the start at DH against the lefty. For now, fantasy managers should consider the 21-year-old Anthony as day-to-day and check to see if he's able to return in Game 2 of the series against KC. If Anthony ends up missing extended time due to his injury, Masataka Yoshida should see more starts at the DH spot against right-handed pitchers. Anthony started out slow after his first big-league call-up but has been hot of late and is now batting .283 (45-for-159) with two homers, 19 RBI and 27 runs. UPDATE: Anthony won't play on Tuesday, but manager Alex Cora doesn't think the rookie will miss more time than that. He won't be sent for an MRI exam.
