Ryan Pressly Designated for Assignment
Ryan Pressly was designated for assignment on Thursday. This was the corresponding move to make room for Taylor Rogers on the 40-man roster, who they acquired from Pittsburgh at the trade deadline. This season has been a huge disappointment for the veteran, who was expected to earn the bulk of the save opportunities for the club. He last served as a full-time closer in 2023 when he saved 31 games for the Astros, but he posted a 4.36 ERA and 1.52 WHIP in 2025 and was quickly booted from ninth-inning duties in favor of Daniel Palencia. He could find himself a new home for the final two months of the year if another team claims him on waivers or he hits free agency.
