Max Homa Fighting to Salvage Disappointing Season
Max Homa has had a rough 2025 season, posting just two top-25 finishes and missing seven cuts through 19 events. He currently sits well outside of a playoff spot at 106th in the FedEx Cup standings, with this week marking the final opportunity to qualify. His recent form has shown signs of life with finishes of T39, T45, and T5 in his last three starts, but he'll need more than that to inspire confidence heading into the Wyndham Championship. He's played here twice and missed the cut both times. To change that, Homa will need to be solid across the board, accurate from tee to green, and able to capitalize on birdie chances. He ranks 159th in total strokes gained at minus-0.724 per round, 125th in greens in regulation, and 93rd in driving accuracy. He's also 120th in birdie or better percentage and sits in the 45th percentile in proximity from 150 to 200 yards, a range that accounted for over 40% of approach shots here last year. Despite a glimmer of improvement, Homa's poor course history and season-long struggles keep expectations low this week.
