Detroit Tigers ace Tarik Skubal struck out double-digit hitters for the eighth time this season and improved to 11-3 in a 7-5 win over the Philadelphia Phillies on Saturday. The reigning AL Cy Young winner fanned 10 in seven innings and gave up three earned runs on five hits to collect his third straight quality start since the All-Star break. Skubal didn't walk anyone over 98 pitches (73 strikes), and he generated 20 whiffs against a strong lineup. The 28-year-old superstar ranks first in the majors in WHIP (0.83) and K-BB% (30.5), second in ERA (2.18) and strikeouts (181), and third in innings (140 2/3). He's slated to face the Los Angeles Angels on Friday. Skubal held them to one run over six innings on May 2.--Connor ByrneSource: ESPN

Miami Marlins reliever Calvin Faucher nabbed his 11th save of the season in a 2-0 win over the New York Yankees on Saturday. Faucher threw a 1-2-3 ninth inning with a strikeout and needed just 12 pitches to finish off the Yankees. The 29-year-old right-hander is riding a modest five-appearance scoreless streak and has dropped his ERA to 3.64 with a 1.33 WHIP, 42 strikeouts, and 19 walks over 42 innings. While Faucher leads the Marlins in saves and has gotten two in a row for the club, they've frustrated fantasy managers by using multiple relievers to close out games. Ronny Henriquez, who has the second-most saves on the team (six), pitched a scoreless seventh inning to collect his 15th hold.--Connor ByrneSource: ESPN

Detroit Tigers reliever Kyle Finnegan made a positive first impression in his team debut in a 7-5 victory over the Philadelphia Phillies on Saturday. The Tigers called on closer Will Vest to pitch the eighth inning in a non-save situation against the top of the Phillies' lineup, but he wasn't up to the task. Vest left after allowing two earned runs on three hits and logging two outs. The Tigers then summoned Finnegan, acquired from the Washington Nationals at Thursday's trade deadline, in a 7-5 game. The 33-year-old right-hander retired four in a row to nab his 21st save of the season. Finnegan lowered his ERA to 4.24 (3.55 FIP) with a 1.24 WHIP and 33:14 K:BB in 40 1/3 innings. He's next in line for saves behind Vest, who has slumped lately.--Connor ByrneSource: ESPN

Detroit Tigers closer Will Vest had a rough outing in a non-save situation during a 7-5 win over the Philadelphia Phillies on Saturday. Vest came in to pitch the bottom of the eighth inning with a 7-3 lead and yielded three hits, including a Bryce Harper two-run homer, to turn the game into a nail-biter. He ended up retiring two batters (both via strikeout) before the Tigers replaced him with the just-acquired Kyle Finnegan. Fortunately for Detroit, Finnegan notched a four-out save to secure the victory. Vest, meanwhile, has been shaky in three of his past four outings. He blew a save Friday and is 16 out of 21 on the year with a 2.85 ERA, a 1.12 WHIP, and 54:15 K:BB.--Connor ByrneSource: ESPN

Los Angeles Chargers running back Najee Harris (eye) worked off to the side during Saturday's practice. While he seemingly still has a way to go before potentially getting cleared for Week 1, his presence on Saturday was at least a positive step in the right direction. The 27-year-old signed a one-year deal with the Chargers in March after spending his first four years in the National Football League in Pittsburgh. He had more than a few productive outings with the Steelers, amassing 4,312 yards off 1,097 carries while totaling 34 touchdowns in 68 regular-season contests. Harris needs to get cleared as soon as possible. If he remains limited and is ruled out heading into the opener versus the Chiefs on September 5, Omarion Hampton will have a chance to lock up even more touches out of the backfield moving ahead.--Dennis ClausenSource: Kris Rhim

San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Ricky Pearsall finished his first full week of practice, with Matt Maiocco of NBC Sports Bay Area reporting that the 24-year-old "looked very good." The 49ers are dealing with a number of critical injuries within the receiving corps. Brandon Aiyuk (knee) remains without a return date and Jauan Jennings (calf) is day-to-day. All things considered, the latest report from Maiocco is certainly a positive update for the team. It's also good news for Pearsall regarding his fantasy outlook. The 2024 No. 31 overall pick appeared in 11 games last season, finishing with 31 grabs for 400 yards and three touchdowns. If Pearsall can stay healthy, he could easily surpass his ADP projections, even more so if Aiyuk is out longer than anticipated.--Dennis ClausenSource: Matt Maiocco

Colorado Rockies relief pitcher Seth Halvorsen (elbow) was removed early during Saturday's outing against the Pittsburgh Pirates. Halvorsen was only able to throw five pitches before being pulled out due to an elbow injury. Afterwards, interim manager Warren Schaeffer said that the injury didn't look good. The assumption is that Halvorsen will undergo further testing before they decide what to do next. If he misses time, Victor Vodnik could be next in line for saves in Colorado. Fantasy managers will need to stay tuned for more updates.--Andy WebbSource: Christian Saez

Atlanta Braves relief pitcher Austin Cox will serve as the opener for Saturday's game against the Cincinnati Reds. Originally, Spencer Strider was supposed to take the ball, but the game was delayed for over an hour due to rain. That being said, the Braves have decided to save Strider's arm and go bullpen-game on Saturday. It's unclear who is going to get the ball after Cox goes an inning or so. Fantasy managers should adjust their lineups with the shakeup in starters. Cox isn't a recommended streaming option for this one.--Andy WebbSource: Gordon Wittenmyer

Minnesota Vikings tight end T.J. Hockenson (undisclosed) suffered an apparent injury during Saturday's practice. While there hasn't been an official update from the team regarding the exact nature of the ailment, it appears Hockenson may have suffered a groin injury. He remained on the field with the team, although he was "walking slowly." The 28-year-old began the 2024 campaign on the physically unable to perform list due to a torn ACL and MCL. Unfortunately, he struggled throughout the year and finished with only 41 catches for 465 yards while going without a trip to the end zone. Hockenson is seemingly building rapport with quarterback J.J. McCarthy, so there's reason to believe he can turn it around in 2025. However, he'll need to stay healthy. With that said, fantasy managers should consider Hockenson as day-to-day, with an update likely to come within the next few days.--Dennis ClausenSource: Alec Lewis

San Francisco Giants pitcher Kai-Wei Teng took the mound for his first MLB start on Saturday. He made a handful of appearances out of the bullpen last season, but never made a start in the big leagues. The 26-year-old didn't have great results as he allowed five earned runs on four hits, while walking three batters and striking out four hitters. Teng was tagged for three runs in the first inning, but seemed to somewhat settle down after that. Manager Bob Melvin said Teng is expected to get another start after his lackluster outing on Saturday. Landen Roupp (elbow) isn't quite ready to return yet, so Teng might get one more start. He won't be a recommended streaming choice after seeing Saturday's start.--Andy WebbSource: Justice De Los Santos

Atlanta Braves starting pitcher Spencer Strider has been scratched ahead of Saturday's start against the Cincinnati Reds. The game has been delayed due to rain for over an hour. That being said, the Braves have elected to go with a bullpen game, assuming they're able to play on Saturday. If it gets rained out, the two teams would likely make it up on Sunday. Strider already completed most of his warm up prior to this outing. It's unclear if the Braves would want him to pitch on Sunday or possibly wait until later in the week. The Braves haven't announced who would make the start for Saturday's game, assuming they play.--Andy WebbSource: Gabe Burns

Arizona Cardinals running back James Conner considers Trey Benson a starter. "We're both RB1," said Conner. "He's gonna play a lot this year." Benson was drafted in the third round of the 2024 NFL Draft. He appeared in 13 games last season. However, he finished with only 291 yards and one touchdown off 63 touches. Head coach Jonathan Gannon has already indicated that Benson would be more involved during the 2025 campaign. Yet, Conner's latest comment adds more validity to Gannon's statement even more. It appears Benson could be more than an insurance policy this season, although his increased involvement won't be good for Conner's fantasy outlook. If anything, Conner could be the preferred pass-catching option out of the backfield, with Benson in line to handle the bulk of the carries.--Dennis ClausenSource: Theo Mackie

Tennessee Titans tight end Chig Okonkwo "continues to look like he has an extra gear," according to team reporter JT Ruhnke. The 25-year-old has spent his entire career in Music City since being drafted by the team in 2022. He's appeared in all 17 regular-season games in each of his three seasons. While Okonkwo hasn't been consistently productive, he at least flashed some signs of promise by totaling 138 receptions for 1,457 yards and six touchdowns. He'll have plenty of competition for targets in 2025, with Tyler Lockett, Calvin Ridley, and Van Jefferson all looking for attention. The Titans will also presumably have rookie quarterback Cam Ward under center, although it's realistic to assume he might struggle on occasion. With so much anticipated volatility at the tight end position, Okonkwo could find himself in fantasy lineups this season. However, fantasy managers shouldn't expect consistent production from him on a week-to-week basis.--Dennis ClausenSource: JT Ruhnke

Los Angeles Angels first baseman/outfielder LaMonte Wade Jr. was released by the organization on Saturday. This shouldn't come as a shock considering how poorly Wade has been playing with the Angels. In 30 games, Wade slashed .169/.260/.215 with one home run and three RBI. Before this season, Wade put together back-to-back strong campaigns with the San Francisco Giants. For some reason, everything is going wrong for Wade at the plate in 2025. He'll look to land with another organization, but will probably be forced to settle for a minor league contract.--Andy WebbSource: Erica Weston

St. Louis Cardinals outfielder Lars Nootbaar (ribs) was activated off the 10-day injured list on Saturday. Nootbaar is back in the mix after landing on the injured list in mid-July due to a ribs issue. The lineup isn't posted yet for Saturday's game versus the San Diego Padres. Regardless, Nootbaar figures to return to his everyday spot in the outfield. Before going down Nootbaar was slashing .227/.332/.381 with 12 home runs and 37 RBI in 88 games. He's not much of a fantasy option right now. In a corresponding move, infielder Jose Fermin has been optioned to the minors.--Andy WebbSource: St. Louis Cardinals

Texas Rangers third baseman Jake Burger (quad) is beginning his rehab assignment with Double-A Frisco on Saturday. Burger has been swinging the bat since last week, but now is ready for a rehab assignment. The right-handed slugger has been out since mid-July due to a quad strain. The Rangers are hopeful that Burger can return in time for their upcoming series against the Philadelphia Phillies next weekend. Burger has struggled with the bat this season, but is a legitimate power threat when healthy.--Andy WebbSource: Texas Rangers PR

Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Michael Wilson (head) was placed in concussion protocol. The 25-year-old collided with safety Budda Baker during practice on Friday, although both players got to their feet without assistance. Wilson finished last season by amassing 47 catches for 548 yards and four touchdowns. While Wilson will need to compete for targets primarily with Marvin Harrison Jr. and Trey McBride throughout the 2025 campaign, assuming they all stay healthy, there's a good chance he'll improve even more in his third season in the National Football League. Granted, that doesn't necessarily mean he'll be a consistently reliable fantasy producer, but he could at least draw flex consideration from fantasy managers in the right situation. With that in mind, Wilson should be considered day-to-day, with an update on his health expected in the coming days.--Dennis ClausenSource: Bo Brack

Chicago Cubs starting pitcher Matthew Boyd was outstanding on the mound during Saturday's outing against the Baltimore Orioles. The O's hitters had no answers for Boyd as he tossed seven shutout innings, allowing four hits, and striking out eight batters in the no-decision. Sadly for Boyd, the Cubs bullpen blew the game in the eighth inning. Boyd has allowed zero earned runs in four of his last five starts. He'll take a 2.34 ERA, 1.03 WHIP, and a 118/29 K/BB ratio into his next outing against the St. Louis Cardinals. Boyd should be rostered and started in all fantasy formats right now.--Andy WebbSource: mlb.com

Baltimore Orioles relief pitcher Keegan Akin was called upon to hold a one-run lead versus the Chicago Cubs on Saturday. The Orioles took a late lead in this one and already had Yennier Cano pitch in the eighth inning. That being said, Akin was tasked with getting the final three outs. It wasn't easy as he walked two batters, but also recorded two strikeouts in what ended up being his first save of the season. Akin figures to remain in the mix for saves alongside Cano right now.--Andy WebbSource: mlb.com

Milwaukee Brewers outfielder Sal Frelick (knee) was removed early during Saturday's game against the Washington Nationals. Frelick was pulled out of the game due to left knee soreness. Afterwards, the Brewers said that his removal from the contest was precautionary. The assumption is that Frelick will undergo further testing. For now, Frelick should be considered day-to-day. Before exiting, Frelick went 2-for-2 with a single and a double. Fantasy managers should check back on Sunday for another update.--Andy WebbSource: Milwaukee Brewers

According to Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones, the team isn't looking to trade defensive end Micah Parsons. "I think the world of Micah," said Jones on Saturday. "What y'all don't know is what I offered him. And it's a hell of a lot more than you think I did. Micah took it off [the table]." The 26-year-old has had a stellar career since entering the National Football League in 2021, totaling 256 tackles, 52.5 sacks, and nine forced fumbles in 63 regular-season contests. Without question, Parsons is certainly deserving of a new deal, although one may not get done anytime soon, considering Jones' history of dragging out contract negotiations in previous years.--Dennis ClausenSource: John Machota

Forward Jakub Lauko has left the NHL to sign with HC Dynamo Pardubice in the Czech Extraliga. He was an unrestricted free agent after the Boston Bruins did not give him a qualifying offer. 101 of his 139 NHL appearances have come with the Bruins. Lauko started the 2024-25 with the Minnesota Wild before returning to Beantown in March. He registered 11 points (five goals, six assists) and 119 hits in 56 contests with the two teams. Lauku is only 25 years old and may return to the National Hockey League in the future. He's looking to develop his offensive game back home. "I play hard and energetic. I believe I'm good defensively, but I also want to wake up offensively and contribute to the team in that regard," Lauko said, per the team's press release via Google Translate.--Taavi PailkSource: NESN

Toronto Maple Leafs winger Nicholas Robertson has signed a one-year, $1.825 million contract for next season. He was scheduled to have a salary arbitration hearing on Sunday. Robertson was the only unsigned restricted free agent remaining among the 11 players who filed for salary arbitration. Times have been difficult for Robertson in Toronto, as the Pasadena-born forward has not found a consistent role on the team. Last season, he played in only three of the Maple Leafs' 13 playoff games, scoring one goal and two points. During the regular season, Robertson recorded 22 points (15 goals, seven assists) in 69 games. Without a regular top-six spot, Robertson isn't a very appealing fantasy option.--Taavi PailkSource: NHL.com

Los Angeles Kings winger Alex Laferriere inked a three-year, $12.3 million contract with the team on Saturday. The 23-year-old was a restricted free agent after having completed his entry-level contract. Laferriere has produced promising performances with the Kings and is coming off a strong sophomore campaign. The American forward finished last term with 42 points (19 goals, 23 assists) in 77 games and was third on the team with 124 hits. Laferriere's prospects in the league as a power forward appear bright, and his fantasy value is likely to increase further in 2025-26.--Taavi PailkSource: NHL.com

Toronto Blue Jays right-hander Shane Bieber (elbow) will make a rehab start with Triple-A Buffalo on Sunday. It'll be Bieber's first start as part of the Toronto organization, which acquired him from the Cleveland Guardians before Thursday's trade deadline. The Blue Jays took a gamble on Bieber, who hasn't pitched in the majors since April 2024 as a result of Tommy John surgery. The former AL Cy Young winner has been dominant in a total of four rehab starts among the rookie, High-A, and Double-A levels this year. Across 11 1/3 innings, Bieber has put up a 1.59 ERA with 21 strikeouts and one walk. With Bieber aiming for five innings and 70 to 75 pitches Sunday, he's closing in on his Blue Jays debut.--Connor ByrneSource: Keegan Matheson - MLB.com

Kansas City Royals infielder/outfielder Jonathan India (elbow/forearm) exited early against the Toronto Blue Jays on Saturday after taking a Max Scherzer pitch off the left elbow/forearm. The Royals moved Adam Frazier to second to replace India and brought in Nick Loftin to play left field in the fifth inning. India's now undergoing further evaluation. The 28-year-old went 1-for-1 on Saturday and is now hitting a disappointing .242/.323/.344 with five homers, 32 RBI, 48 runs scored, and no stolen bases over 440 plate appearances.--Connor ByrneSource: Kansas City Royals

Los Angeles Dodgers left-hander Blake Snell (shoulder) made his long-awaited return from the injured list Saturday after missing four months with shoulder inflammation. Facing the Tampa Bay Rays, one of his former teams, Snell tossed five innings of five-hit, three-run ball with eight strikeouts and no walks on 86 pitches (57 strikes). Snell surrendered two home runs to Yandy Diaz, but he was otherwise sharp in a 4-0 loss. While Snell fell to 1-1 on the year in his third start and first since April 2, his strikeout total, command, average fastball velocity (95 mph), and 19 whiffs were all encouraging signs. The Dodgers are easing the 32-year-old back in as part of a six-man rotation. He's scheduled to toe the rubber again next Saturday against the Toronto Blue Jays.--Connor ByrneSource: ESPN
