Marcelo Mayer to Receive Anti-Inflammation Injection in Wrist
Marcelo Mayer (wrist) will receive an anti-inflammation injection in his right wrist on Saturday, manager Alex Cora announced. "We have to wait three days to see if it works," Cora said. "And then he starts doing baseball activities and see how he reacts to it." With Mayer in limbo for the next few days, his timeline to return remains unclear. The 22-year-old rookie amassed 144 plate appearances and hit .228/.272/.402 with four homers, 10 RBI, and 20 runs scored in 44 games before the Red Sox placed him on the 10-day injured list on July 24.Source: Christopher Smith - MassLive.com
Boston Red Sox infielder Derek Hill to Begin Triple-A Rehab Assignment
Derek Hill (finger) will begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Jacksonville on Saturday. The Marlins placed Hill on the 10-day injured list on July 22 with a sprained middle finger on his left hand, but it doesn't appear he'll miss much more time. The 29-year-old has hit a woeful .211/.276/.322 with two homers, seven RBI, 14 runs scored, and six steals in 100 plate appearances this season.Source: MLB.com
Miami Marlins outfielder D'Ernest Johnson Signs with Ravens
D'Ernest Johnson, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. Johnson joins Justice Hill, Keaton Mitchell, and Rasheen Ali as depth options in Baltimore behind star running back Derrick Henry. In 14 games with the Jacksonville Jaguars last season Johnson gained 239 yards from scrimmage on 44 total touches and did not find the end zone. The 29-year-old's most productive NFL season came in 2021, when he rushed for over 500 yards and three touchdowns in 17 games for the Cleveland Browns. Hill is a proven commodity as Baltimore's primary passing-down back, so Johnson could be battling with Mitchell for the RB3 role.Source: ESPN - Adam Schefter
The Baltimore Ravens have signed running back Evan Carter Placed on 10-Day Injured List
Evan Carter (back) on the 10-day injured list with back spasms and recalled fellow outfielder Alejandro Osuna from Triple-A Round Rock. Carter is heading to the IL for the second time this year after previously sitting out the end of May with a quad strain. The 22-year-old has dealt with a laundry list of injuries in his career, including a lumbar sprain last season, and his health issues have prevented him from realizing his potential. Carter has appeared in just 55 games this season and hit .238/.323/.381 with four homers, 21 RBI, 27 runs, and 12 steals over 189 plate appearances. Wyatt Langford is starting in center in Carter's place on Saturday against Seattle Mariners right-hander Luis Castillo. Osuna is playing left field, and Adolis Garcia is in right.Source: Texas Rangers

Denzel Perryman Arrested on Felony Charges
Source: ESPN - Kris Rhim
Los Angeles Chargers linebacker Denzel Perryman was arrested on Friday night on a felony weapons charge, according to ESPN's Kris Rhim. Police reportedly conducted a traffic stop on Perryman and found five firearms in his vehicle. He has a court date set for August 5, and the Chargers said in a statement that the team is in the process of gathering more information. The 32-year-old Perryman is entering his 11th NFL season and is competing with second-year linebacker Junior Colson for a starting role in Los Angeles. In 11 games last season with the Chargers, Perryman recorded 39 solo tackles and one sack. It remains to be seen what the fallout from this arrest will be, both from a legal perspective and in terms of a possible league suspension. If Perryman misses time, both Colson and veteran Troy Dye would likely be in line for increased reps.Miles Sanders Could Miss "a Couple of Days" with Knee Injury
Miles Sanders (knee) could miss a couple of days with a left knee bruise, but that the team does not have a lot of concern about the injury. Sanders has been out of action since Thursday, and it appears as though he'll miss the early part of the upcoming week as well. The veteran running back signed with Dallas in March after spending the past two seasons with the Carolina Panthers. In 11 games (two starts) for Carolina in 2024, Sanders recorded 353 yards from scrimmage and three touchdowns on 79 total touches. He's competing with fellow free-agent signee Javonte Williams and fifth-round rookie Jaydon Blue for playing time in the Cowboys' backfield. While there's an opportunity for him to earn a role in Dallas, Sanders probably offers the lowest upside of the three backs and is unlikely to win the job outright.Source: The Dallas Morning News - Joseph Hoyt
Dallas Cowboys head coach Brian Schottenheimer said that running back DJ Giddens Standing Out in Colts Practice, In Line for Significant Role?
DJ Giddens has stood out in training camp and looks like "the most talented backup the Colts have ever had" to star running back Jonathan Taylor, according to Destin Adams of A to Z Sports. A fifth-round pick out of Kansas State, Giddens gained over 1,600 yards from scrimmage in 12 games last season for the Wildcats. Early reporting out of Colts' camp indicates that the 21-year-old is leading the RB2 battle over veterans Khalil Herbert and Tyler Goodson. While Taylor is likely to dominate carries in Indianapolis, Giddens could earn his way onto the field on passing downs and make an impact as a receiver out of the backfield. If he continues his strong play throughout the preseason, Giddens could emerge as a valuable late-round handcuff option in fantasy.Source: A to Z Sports - Destin Adams
Indianapolis Colts rookie running back Evan Carter Sitting Saturday, Could Land on 10-Day Injured List
Evan Carter (back) is dealing with back spasms and will not play Saturday against the Seattle Mariners, according to Kennedi Landry of MLB.com. Carter may head to the 10-day injured list, but the Rangers haven't made a decision yet. This is a concerning issue for Carter, who has a history of back problems and missed most of the 2024 season with a lumbar sprain. The 22-year-old was on the IL earlier this season with a quad strain and has batted a modest .238/.323/.381 with four homers, 21 RBI, 27 runs scored, and 12 stolen bases in a career-high 189 plate appearances. Carter was highly productive in June, but he has gone just 12-for-69 (.174) with no home runs in 22 games since July 4.Source: Kennedi Landry - MLB.com
Texas Rangers outfielder Max Kranick Undergoes Flexor Tendon Surgery
Max Kranick (elbow) recently underwent surgery to repair his flexor tendon, according to Will Sammon of The Athletic. It was previously believed that Kranick would require Tommy John surgery for the second time, so this is positive news for the 28-year-old. While Kranick won't pitch again in 2025, he could return to the Mets' bullpen sometime next season. Kranick ended the year 3-2 with a 3.65 ERA, a 1.05 WHIP, 25:5 K:BB, and five holds in 37 innings.Source: Will Sammon - The Athletic
New York Mets right-hander Cade Povich to Start for Orioles on Monday
Cade Povich (hip) will come off the 15-day injured list to start against the Philadelphia Phillies on Monday, interim manager Tony Mansolino announced. It'll be the first start since June 16 for Povich, who has missed a month and a half with inflammation in his left hip. The 25-year-old went 2-5 with a 5.15 ERA, a 1.50 WHIP, and 68 strikeouts against 23 walks in 64 2/3 innings before going on the IL. Povich built up to 86 pitches in his most recent rehab start, so he shouldn't face any restrictions against Philadelphia. The Phillies will be a tough draw for Povich, though, as they rank 10th in the majors in runs and own the league's seventh-best wOBA versus southpaws (.322).Source: Matt Weyrich - The Baltimore Sun

Tyler O'Neill Scratched on Saturday
Tyler O'Neill (illness) because of an illness on Saturday against the Chicago Cubs. Gunnar Henderson will DH in O'Neill's place and hit third, and Luis Vazquez will handle shortstop and occupy the No. 9 position in the lineup. O'Neill struggled mightily earlier in the year and has missed a significant amount of time with injuries, but he has found his power stroke again over the past month. Since July 4, the 30-year-old has gone 14-for-58 with five homers, 11 RBI, and 10 runs scored in 17 games.Source: Roch Kubato - MASNSports.com
The Baltimore Orioles scratched outfielder Jeremy Pena Out of Lineup Saturday
Jeremy Pena (hamstring) is not in the lineup Saturday against Boston Red Sox right-hander Walker Buehler. Carlos Correa will take over at short and hit third, while Ramon Urias will man third base and bat ninth. Pena left Friday's game early with hamstring cramps, but he was confident afterward that he would play Saturday. That won't be the case, and it's unclear if Pena's dealing with a serious injury or if the Astros are merely playing it safe with him. Pena just returned Friday after missing over a month with a small fracture in his rib. The additions of Correa and Urias, acquired before Thursday's trade deadline, soften the blow of Pena's absence for Houston.Source: MLB.com
Houston Astros shortstop Cowboys Place Parris Campbell on Injured Reserve
Parris Campbell (knee) on season-ending Injured Reserve on Saturday and officially signed offensive tackle La'el Collins in a corresponding move. Campbell suffered an MCL sprain in training camp practice last season and will now miss the entire 2025 campaign in his first year with Dallas. The 28-year-old was originally taken in the second round (59th overall) in 2019 out of Ohio State by the Indianapolis Colts, and he spent the first four years of his NFL career in Indy. Injuries have played a big part in Campbell being a disappointment, as he played just 15 games in his first three years. After a career year with a 63-623-3 line in his final season with the Colts in 2022, Campbell joined the Giants for a year in 2023 and played in only five games for the Eagles last season.Source: ESPN - Adam Schefter
The Dallas Cowboys placed wide receiver Baker Mayfield to Return Next Week
Baker Mayfield (hand) got another day off at training camp on Saturday due to his sore throwing hand, but head coach Todd Bowles said that Mayfield will return to practice next week. Mayfield injured his right hand during practice on Thursday when it hit a teammate on a follow-through. The 30-year-old thankfully avoided a serious injury, but the Bucs will give him a little time off this weekend to rest. Mayfield should be back on the field next week and ready to go for the start of the 2025 season in early September. Despite having to work with a new offensive coordinator for yet another season, Mayfield was a Pro Bowler for the second straight season in 2024 and had a career-high 4,500 yards and 41 touchdowns, but he also led the league with 16 picks. Tampa's offense remains largely intact, and while fantasy managers can't expect another 40-TD season, Mayfield is at least in the low-end QB1 conversation.Source: Buccaneers.com - Scott Smith
Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Antonio Senzatela is Placed on the 15-Day Injured List with a Blister
Antonio Senzatela (finger) on the 15-day injured list with a right middle finger blister. The designation to the injured list comes one day after he was shelled for eight earned runs in 2/3 of an inning against the Pirates. It is unclear if his blistered finger was the reason for his recent struggles, but he will miss at least two weeks of action nonetheless. Over 103 innings pitched this season, the 30-year-old has posted a 7.34 ERA, a 1.91 WHIP, all while striking out just 55 batters. He can remain on the waiver wire in most leagues.Source: Rockies Club Information
The Colorado Rockies placed right-handed pitcher Colts Putting A Lot on Tyler Warren's Plate
Tyler Warren with the 14th overall pick in April's NFL draft, and it hasn't taken him long to impress the coaching staff at training camp this summer. Offensive coordinator Jim Bob Cooter said, "We're putting a lot on his plate. I think he's going to be a very versatile piece for us. We're going to try a bunch of different stuff with him, give him a bunch of shots at a bunch of different aspects playing offensive football." After a slow start to camp, the 23-year-old is starting to make explosive plays in practice, and he's already lined up in the backfield as well. At Penn State in 2024, Warren had 1,233 yards and 11 touchdowns and also ran the ball for 218 yards and four TDs. Warren could immediately become a TE1 in fantasy in his first NFL season, but it's Indy's shaky QB situation that could bring him down.Source: The Associated Press

Tank Bigsby Featured Heavily in Friday's Scrimmage
Tank Bigsby was in on the team's entire first drive of their scrimmage on Friday at training camp, and Travis Etienne Jr. and rookie Bhayshul Tuten weren't seen at all. It's just a scrimmage early in camp, but it's worth noting as Bigsby looks to take control of a bigger part of Jacksonville's backfield under new head coach Liam Coen in 2025. During practices, both Bigsby and Etienne have been rotating work with the first-team offense, so the Jags could use a straight committee approach to their running game. RotoBaller has Etienne ranked as the RB33 this year, with Bigby checking in at No. 50. Bigsby was impressive last year, though, rushing for 766 yards and seven touchdowns on 168 carries (4.6 yards per tote). He could command a larger share of touches in 2025, but his lack of passing-game prowess hurts his overall fantasy upside.Source: Jason Hamby
Jacksonville Jaguars running back Tetairoa McMillan Working on Improving Timing with Bryce Young
Bryce Young and rookie wide receiver Tetairoa McMillan are "still working on their timing in the passing game," according to Joseph Person of The Athletic. Person writes that Carolina's defensive backs have consistently challenged McMillan with press coverage, and the rookie is still adjusting to the increased level of physicality. The number eight overall pick in the 2025 NFL draft, McMillan recorded 84 catches for 1,319 yards and eight touchdowns in 12 games for the University of Arizona last season. He has the opportunity to step in and be the Panthers' number one target-earner right away. However, Carolina also has veteran Adam Thielen and 2024 first-rounder Xavier Legette in their receiver room. It's no surprise that McMillan and Young are still working on building chemistry this early in training camp, but it's something to monitor throughout the course of the preseason.Source: The Athletic - Joseph Person
Carolina Panthers quarterback Duop Reath Has Salary Guaranteed by Portland
Duop Reath on Friday. The 29-year-old averaged 9.1 points and 3.7 rebounds as a rookie in 2023. However, it was a different story in 2024, with Reath amassing 4.2 points and 2.0 boards in 46 regular-season contests. He can play both the four and five spots. Still, the Blazers have depth at both positions, meaning Reath could have trouble finding consistent playing time throughout the 2025 campaign, giving him little-to-no value in any fantasy format. On the other hand, his stock might rise if there is an injury, which could open the door for streaming opportunities for fantasy managers.Source: Michael Scotto

Shedeur Sanders Sits Out Team Drills with Arm Soreness
Shedeur Sanders (arm soreness) did not participate in team drills during Cleveland's training camp practice on Saturday, according to Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com. Cabot reports that veteran Joe Flacco and rookie Dillon Gabriel took all the team reps, with quarterback Kenny Pickett (hamstring) joining Sanders on the sideline. It does not sound as though this is expected to be a serious injury for Sanders, but the exact nature of the ailment is unclear. The Browns are holding an open competition for the starting quarterback job in camp, but early reporting indicates that Flacco is the heavy favorite to begin the season under center. Sanders has a long way to go before he's even the primary backup in Cleveland, so any further missed time would be detrimental to his 2025 outlook.Source: Cleveland.com - Mary Kay Cabot
Cleveland Browns rookie quarterback Cam Skattebo Suffers Setback in Recovery From Hamstring Injury
Cam Skattebo (hamstring) suffered a "setback" in his recovery from a hamstring injury during the team's practice on Friday, according to Giants head coach Brian Daboll. Skattebo is officially considered day-to-day but is expected to miss some time. The Giants had been holding Skattebo out of team drills to manage the injury earlier this week, but it appears as though he'll now need a full shutdown for at least a few days. Skattebo was a workhorse in his final collegiate season at Arizona State in 2024. In 13 games, he recorded 2,316 yards from scrimmage and 24 touchdowns on 338 total touches. Skattebo is expected to share time in the Giants' backfield this season with second-year back Tyrone Tracy Jr. and possibly veteran Devin Singletary as well. With each day he misses due to this hamstring injury, Skattebo is losing out on valuable training camp reps.Source: NFL.com
New York Giants rookie running back Ryan Borucki Reinstated From Injured List
Ryan Borucki (back) from the 15-day injured list on Friday. Borucki will return to Pittsburgh's bullpen for the first time since he went on the IL in the middle of June with a lower-back injury. The 31-year-old will remain off the fantasy radar moving forward, even though the Pirates have more opportunity for late-inning work after they traded David Bednar to the New York Yankees at this week's deadline. Borucki, a former 15th-rounder by the Toronto Blue Jays in 2012, will return to a 5.26 ERA (4.31 FIP) and 1.25 WHIP with 22 strikeouts and 11 walks in 25 2/3 innings pitched this year. He has never saved a game in his eight major-league seasons and is unlikely to change that the rest of the way in 2025 with Dennis Santana now locked into the team's closer role.Source: Pittsburgh Pirates
The Pittsburgh Pirates reinstated left-hander Kai-Wei Teng Making First MLB Start on Saturday
Kai-Wei Teng was promoted from Triple-A Sacramento and will make the start on Saturday at Citi Field against the hosting New York Mets for his first appearance in the big leagues in 2025. The 26-year-old allowed 15 hits and 12 runs in 11 innings in his first taste of the majors last year for the Giants, but he had a 3.67 ERA and 86 strikeouts in 54 innings for the Rivercats on the farm this year and was impressive in July, with a 0.52 ERA and 31 punchouts in 17 1/3 innings pitched. Fantasy managers will want to avoid him against the Mets this weekend, though, as he hasn't made a start since July 13. Teng's last time out with Sacramento was for 1 2/3 innings of relief. The matchup is bad and Teng isn't going to go very deep in this one. Stay away.Source: MLB.com
San Francisco Giants right-hander Isaiah Davis Standing Out in Jets Practice
Isaiah Davis was "making plays as both a runner and receiver" in the team's training camp practice on Saturday, according to Jake Asman of ESPN Radio. A fifth-round draft pick in 2024, Davis recorded 249 yards from scrimmage and two touchdowns on 39 total touches across 17 games for the Jets as a rookie. The 23-year-old is behind Breece Hall and Braelon Allen on the Jets running back depth chart, but early reporting from training camp indicates that the team plans to go with a committee approach in the backfield. Davis would likely need an injury to either Hall or Allen to be fantasy-relevant in 2025, but he's a name to monitor throughout the preseason.Source: Jake Asman
