Nolan Arenado Going on Injured List With Shoulder Injury
Nolan Arenado (shoulder) on the 10-day injured list before Friday's series opener against the San Diego Padres at Petco Park with a right-shoulder injury, according to sources. Arenado has been battling shoulder issues since early July and missed a handful of games to try to avoid the IL and hoped resting during the All-Star break would help. In his last 12 games, the 34-year-old veteran has hit .159/.213/.205 with two extra-base hits and one RBI. The 10-time Gold Glove winner remains excellent on defense, but his season OPS has dropped to .660, and he hasn't homered since June 21. There is no immediate timetable for Arenado's return, and fantasy managers definitely shouldn't feel compelled to hold onto him the rest of the year. Brendan Donovan, Nolan Gorman and Thomas Saggese are all options at 3B.
