Josh Jung Out of Lineup Again on Saturday
Josh Jung (calf) will sit for the third straight game on Saturday against the Seattle Mariners as he deals with calf soreness. Josh Smith will fill in at the hot corner and lead off versus right-hander Luis Castillo, while Rowdy Tellez will take first and bat seventh. The good news for Jung is that it doesn't seem as if he'll require a trip to the 10-day injured list. He did some sprints in the outfield on Saturday and said afterward that he feels "better." Manager Bruce Bochy stated that Jung could be available to pinch-hit if needed. Jung has taken 330 trips to the plate this season and slashed an underwhelming .249/.297/.385 with 10 homers, 40 RBI, 31 runs scored, and four stolen bases. However, the 27-year-old went a red-hot 11-for-30 (.367) with two HRs, five RBI, and six runs in a nine-game stretch to end July. Jung will try to pick up where he left off when he comes back, perhaps on Sunday.
