Tarik Skubal Punches Out 10 in Victory
Tarik Skubal struck out double-digit hitters for the eighth time this season and improved to 11-3 in a 7-5 win over the Philadelphia Phillies on Saturday. The reigning AL Cy Young winner fanned 10 in seven innings and gave up three earned runs on five hits to collect his third straight quality start since the All-Star break. Skubal didn't walk anyone over 98 pitches (73 strikes), and he generated 20 whiffs against a strong lineup. The 28-year-old superstar ranks first in the majors in WHIP (0.83) and K-BB% (30.5), second in ERA (2.18) and strikeouts (181), and third in innings (140 2/3). He's slated to face the Los Angeles Angels on Friday. Skubal held them to one run over six innings on May 2.
