Kyle Finnegan Picks Up Four-Out Save
Kyle Finnegan made a positive first impression in his team debut in a 7-5 victory over the Philadelphia Phillies on Saturday. The Tigers called on closer Will Vest to pitch the eighth inning in a non-save situation against the top of the Phillies' lineup, but he wasn't up to the task. Vest left after allowing two earned runs on three hits and logging two outs. The Tigers then summoned Finnegan, acquired from the Washington Nationals at Thursday's trade deadline, in a 7-5 game. The 33-year-old right-hander retired four in a row to nab his 21st save of the season. Finnegan lowered his ERA to 4.24 (3.55 FIP) with a 1.24 WHIP and 33:14 K:BB in 40 1/3 innings. He's next in line for saves behind Vest, who has slumped lately.
