Luther Burden III on the Field on Monday
Luther Burden III (hamstring) is on the field for training camp practice on Monday after he missed the first four practices with a lingering hamstring injury, according to Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune. Burden tweaked his hamstring during minicamp in June, and although the injury wasn't very serious, the Bears played it safe with the second-round wideout and held him out last week at the start of training camp. Chicago will ease the 21-year-old in with the backups at first, but eventually he'll be competing with Olamide Zaccheaus for WR3 duties in 2025 behind DJ Moore and Rome Odunze. The 6-foot, 206-pounder has been compared to Moore and could eventually had a key role in Chicago's passing attack under new head coach Ben Johnson, but for 2025, Burden will be more of a dynasty/keeper asset.Source: Chicago Tribune - Brad Biggs
Chicago Bears rookie wide receiver Cade Otton Dealing With Mild Hamstring Issue
Cade Otton (hamstring) is missing a second straight day of training camp practice on Monday with a mild hamstring issue. The Bucs are just being cautious holding him out early in camp. The 26-year-old might miss some more practice time this week, but this isn't an injury that should keep him from being ready for the Week 1 regular-season opener in early September unless he has a setback. Otton heads into the 2025 campaign as Tampa's clear-cut top pass-catching TE after setting career-highs in catches (59) and receiving yards (600) last year while finding the end zone four times for the second straight season in 14 starts. It definitely helped that receiver Chris Godwin (ankle) missed a big chunk of the year due to injury. He's almost always on the field, but the targets just won't be enough to bump him up into the TE1 picture.Source: Buccaneers.com - Scott Smith

Orioles Have "No Reservations" About Dealing Zach Eflin at the Deadline
Zach Eflin is a prime candidate to get moved at the trade deadline, according to Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic. The 31-year-old Eflin will be a free agent at season's end and does not figure to be in the team's long-term plans, with right-handers Kyle Bradish (elbow) and Tyler Wells (elbow) both expected to be back in the rotation in 2026. Eflin has had a down year in 2025, logging a 5.78 ERA and 1.37 WHIP with 47 strikeouts in 67 innings (13 starts). However, the veteran was much better in 165 1/3 innings (28 starts) split between the Orioles and Tampa Bay Rays in 2024, going 10-9 with a 3.59 ERA, 1.15 WHIP, and 134 strikeouts. Eflin has also been limited by injuries this season, so it's possible that an extended stretch of improved health could lead to him regaining his prior form down the stretch.Source: The Athletic - Ken Rosenthal
Baltimore Orioles starting pitcher Ramon Laureano Viewed as the Orioles' Top Outfield Trade Candidate?
Ramon Laureano has had a resurgent 2025 season and is a "more attractive" trade target for rival teams than teammate Cedric Mullins, according to Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic. In 275 plate appearances, Laureano is hitting .275/.338/.514 with 14 home runs, 43 RBI, 39 runs scored, and four stolen bases. He's earned every day playing time in recent weeks, split between both left and right field. Baltimore holds a reasonable $6.5 million club option on the 31-year-old Laureano for 2026, so they could feasibly keep him through the deadline. If he does get dealt, Laureano would be at greater risk of falling into a corner outfield platoon. He's been better against right-handed pitching so far this season, but for his career, Laureano has been better against left-handers (.794 OPS) than righties (.745 OPS).Source: The Athletic - Ken Rosenthal
Baltimore Orioles outfielder Mariners Looking to Add Bullpen Help at Deadline
Andres Munoz has been one of MLB's best this season with a 1.35 ERA and 23 saves in 40 innings, so Seattle does not need a ninth-inning specialist. However, the depth behind Munoz is not as strong as it has been in recent seasons, and it sounds like Dipoto is planning to add at least one, if not multiple, high-leverage options to the 'pen in the next few days.Source: MLB Network Radio
The Seattle Mariners "will be as aggressive in the bullpen area in the market as anybody," according to the team's president of baseball operations, Jerry Dipoto. Entering play on Monday with a 56-50 record, Seattle is four games back of the Houston Astros for the American League West lead and tied with the Texas Rangers for the final AL wild-card spot. Luke Jackson, who pitched to a 4.11 ERA before being designated for assignment on Wednesday. On the hitting side, Rosenthal notes that Texas ranks last in the American League in OPS against left-handed pitching. Particularly with Jake Burger (quad) on the injured list, the Rangers could use a right-handed platoon partner for Joc Pederson at designated hitter.Source: The Athletic - Ken Rosenthal
The Texas Rangers are more likely to add than subtract at the deadline and are looking for both high-leverage relief pitching and a right-handed bat, according to Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic. Texas has won six straight and nine of its last ten and now sits just four games back of the Houston Astros for the division lead in the American League West. The back end of the Rangers' bullpen has been a question mark all year. The team's leader in saves is Ronny Mauricio Powers Mets to Victory with Four-Hit Game
Ronny Mauricio recorded a monster game on Sunday night in his team's 5-3 victory over the San Francisco Giants. The 24-year-old top prospect went 4-4 with a home run, double, and two RBI. Mauricio has been earning more regular playing time of late at third base, which could be indicative of the Mets' post-deadline plans at the position. His .761 OPS is better than the Mets' other options at third base in Mark Vientos (.640) and Brett Baty (.710), and both of those players have been floated as potential trade chips as the Mets look to upgrade their pitching staff. Mauricio grades out as a positive defender with multi-positional versatility, and he's recorded five home runs and three stolen bases in 122 plate appearances this season.Source: MLB.com
New York Mets infielder J.P. France Struggles in Rehab Outing on Sunday
J.P. France (shoulder) made a rehab appearance on Sunday with Double-A Corpus Christi, throwing two innings and allowing five hits and three earned runs while walking one and striking out three. France has yet to pitch in the big leagues this season as he works his way back from shoulder surgery. Sunday's start was just his second rehab appearance, so he will likely require at least a couple more outings before he gets activated from the 60-day injured list. The 30-year-old France had a solid season for Houston back in 2023, throwing 136 1/3 innings (23 starts) with a 3.83 ERA, 1.36 WHIP, and 101 strikeouts. The Astros are searching for reliable starting pitching at the back end of their rotation, so there's an opportunity for France to make an impact once he's fully healthy and ready to go.Source: The Ice Box Insider - Michael Schwab
Houston Astros right-hander Hyeseong Kim Expected to be Available Monday
Hyeseong Kim's shoulder injury, and expect him back in the lineup Monday, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports. Kim has been dealing with this shoulder injury for about a week, but was lifted for a pinch hitter on Saturday and sat on Sunday. It appears that this injury is something Kim and the Dodgers plan to continue viewing as day-to-day, and he will continue to play through it. On the season, Kim is slashing .311/.345/.415 with two home runs, 15 RBI, 12 stolen bases, and 17 runs scored. Although he is hitting for a solid average after 135 MLB at-bats, his inconsistent playing time makes it difficult to start him in most formats. In addition, most of his advanced metrics display signs of regression, as evident by his .250 xBA and .278 xwOBA. He remains a dynasty stash at this point, unless injuries to the Dodger lineup force him to play more consistently in 2025.Source: Fabian Ardaya
The Los Angeles Dodgers said they'll "manage" Justin Fields Practicing on Monday
Justin Fields, who dislocated his toe last week, is practicing on Monday in 11-on-11 drills, Adam Schefter reports. This is an encouraging sign for the Jets and Fields, as he was carted off the field last Thursday with a toe injury. All signs since last Friday have suggested that he has been making progress from the injury over the past few days, and there's a good chance we see Fields suit up for preseason action if this trend continues. Currently, Fields ranks as QB15, according to NFBC, which aligns with RotoBallers' ranking of QB13. The key to monitoring Fields is ensuring that he is moving around well and actively involved in the run game, as this is what elevates his fantasy floor and ceiling. If the toe injury slows him down on the ground, this limits his potential upside and knocks him out of the conversation as a QB1 in fantasy football.Source: Adam Schefter
New York Jets quarterback Tyler Warren Looking the Part Thus Far in Training Camp
Daniel Jones. Warren currently ranks as the TE11, according to NFBC, which corresponds with his TE12 ranking at RotoBaller.Source: Destin Adams
Indianapolis Colts rookie tight-end Warren has looked the part of a professional, and projections for his rookie season seem to keep increasing with every strong practice he stacks, Destin Adams, beat writer for the Colts, reports. While this is encouraging news to hear for Warren's outlook as a pro, it's still relatively early to say he has it figured out. That being said, during the 2024 season, the Penn State tight end had a standout year, recording 104 receptions for 1,233 yards and eight touchdowns, which earned him a first-round pick (14th overall) in the 2024 NFL draft. While he remains a strong play in dynasty formats, the uncertainty at the quarterback position limits his potential upside in redraft leagues. Houston Astros Showing Interest in Willi Castro
Dan Hayes, a sports writer for The Athletic, reports that Chandler Rome, the beat writer for the Houston Astros, has confirmed the Astros are one of many teams expressing interest in Minnesota Twins utility playerCody Freeman Launches Three Home Runs on Sunday
Cody Freeman enjoyed a monster game at the plate on Sunday. Facing Triple-A Tacoma, Freeman went 3-for-5 with three long balls and four RBI. Freeman was recently given his first taste of the major league. During a brief seven-game stint, the 24-year-old posted a low .143/.143/.286 slash line with one double. However, with Triple-A Round Rock, Freeman has been quite productive and could be in the mix to earn a call back to the majors in the near future. Through 81 games at the top level of the Texas system this season, Freeman has posted a .317/.367/.519 slash line with 20 doubles, 15 home runs, and eight stolen bases. For the time being, fantasy managers should leave him on the waiver wire. However, if he were to earn a promotion, he could be worth a look in deeper formats.Source: MiLB.com
Texas Rangers third base prospect Aron Estrada Promoted to Double-A
Aron Estrada is being promoted to Double-A Chesapeake, according to Chase Ford of MiLB Central. Estrada has spent the entire first half of the campaign with High-A Aberdeen and has been quite productive. Through 81 games, the switch-hitting second baseman has posted a .284/.369/.429 slash line with 13 doubles, five home runs, 30 stolen bases, and a .798 OPS. Last season, Estrada earned a brief taste of High-A action but posted a much lower .247/.337/.341 line with just one long ball across 26 contests. Estrada is currently considered to be the No. 16-ranked prospect in the system on MLB.com. Given his impressive start to the season, Estrada could be in the mix to join Triple-A Norfolk quite early in the 2026 season if he continues to perform at Double-A.Source: Chase Ford
Baltimore Orioles second base prospect Kristian Campbell Tallies Three Hits, Continues Surge at Triple-A
Kristian Campbell enjoyed another productive outing at Triple-A Worcester and is making a strong case to return to the big league. On Sunday, Campbell went 3-for-5 with a home run. This performance extended his current hitting streak to eight games. During this stretch, Campbell has posted an elite .419/.486/.645 slash line with a double, two home runs, and a stolen base. In addition, since returning to the minor leagues, Campbell has also begun to see time at first base, which should present another path for him to return to Boston in the near future. During his first 67 games in the majors, Campbell flashed upside at times, but held an overall .664 OPS. He should be viewed as a solid stash option in all standard formats.Source: MiLB.com
Boston Red Sox second base/outfield prospect Joshua Kuroda-Grauer Promoted to Double-A
Source: MiLB.com
The Athletics are promoting infield prospect Joshua Kuroda-Grauer to Double-A Midland, according to Chase Ford of MiLB Central. Kuroda-Grauer is currently ranked as the No. 8 prospect in the system on MLB.com. He joined the organization in the third round of last year's MLB Draft out of Rutgers. Through 80 games with High-A Lansing this season, Kuroda-Grauer has been very productive, holding a .293/.353/.362 slash line with 21 doubles, 26 home runs, and 26 stolen bases. During the 2024 campaign, Kuroda-Grauer appeared in just 28 games following the draft, primarily in the lower levels of the system, and posted a .324/.421/.343 line with five stolen bases. Kuroda-Grauer has been rather impressive since making his professional debut. If he continues to swing a hot bat at Double-A, he should be in the mix to join Triple-A early in the 2026 season.Connelly Early Joining Triple-A Worcester
Source: MiLB.com
The Boston Red Sox are promoting left-handed pitching prospect Connelly Early to Triple-A Worcester. Early has been one of the most productive pitchers at the Double-A level this season and is now just one stop away from the big leagues. Through 71 2/3 total innings with Double-A Portland, Early has posted a 2.51 ERA with a 1.13 WHIP. During this stretch, Early has struck out an impressive 96 hitters while allowing just 29 walks. Over his last two outings, Early has logged 11 2/3 innings to the tune of a 1.54 ERA with a stellar 0.69 WHIP. The former fifth-round pick from the 2023 MLB Draft is currently considered the No. 9-ranked prospect in the system on MLB.com. Given his promotion, he has a clear path to spend the majority of the 2026 campaign in the major leagues.Luke Keaschall Tallies Hit in Third-Straight Rehab Game
Luke Keaschall (forearm) went 1-for-6 with an RBI during his rehab game against Triple-A Worcester on Sunday evening. Keaschall has now tallied at least one hit in each of his past three rehab games. Through eight rehab games with Triple-A St. Paul, Keaschall has held a .219/.324/.219 line with two RBI and four stolen bases. The 22-year-old made his MLB debut earlier this season and flashed immense upside, posting a .368/.538/.526 line with three doubles and five stolen bases through seven games. However, he would suffer a foramen fracture, which has kept him sidelined since. Seeing him continue to showcase his speed during his rehab assignment is a very positive sign. He may be eligible to return to Minnesota later this week and is worth adding in all standard leagues prior to his activation.Source: MiLB.com
Minnesota Twins first base/second base prospect Ryan Preece Finishes Fourth but Loses Ground to Playoff Cutline
Source: Racing Reference
Yesterday's Brickyard 400 was a mixed blessing for Ryan Preece as his fourth-place finish was his best since Las Vegas 17 races ago and his 12 laps led were his most since Phoenix the race before, but because Bubba Wallace, the driver he was chasing for the final playoff transfer spot, won the race Preece's deficit on the playoff cutline nonetheless increased from 16 points behind Wallace to 42 points behind his RFK Racing teammate Chris Buescher. This drastically decreases the odds he will make the playoffs especially since he does not tend to dominate races and stages and has been more consistent and he will likely need Buescher, a driver who is even more consistent, to get in a wreck to make up the needed ground. Preece stayed out of the pits in Stage 1 and led 12 laps. Going off-sequence allowed him to make his final pit stop much later and he made an impressive charge from 12th to 4th in the final seven laps.
Brad Keselowski Has Good Strategy, but Not Enough to Win
Source: Racing Reference
In a Brickyard 400 that was pretty much just a strategy roulette, Brad Keselowski attempted to make up for his painful near miss last year and almost succeeded as the No. 6 team's typical decision to stay out later than other drivers on the race's final green-flag pit sequence reaped great dividends when the race had two overtime restarts, which resulted in a crash and several drivers running out of fuel. The greater fuel and fresher tires allowed Keselowski to drive from 12th to 5th in the last three laps of the race, although he needed to win to have any chance of making the playoffs with his own car. However, he was more successful as an owner as Ryan Preece finished one position ahead of him and Chris Buescher ran well and more or less maintained his playoff position despite losing several positions on the final restart.Ryan Blaney Bails from Hail Mary Strategy Attempt but Recovers to Finish Seventh
Source: Racing Reference
In a race where none of the Team Penske drivers qualified particularly well, Penske tried some wild strategies to gain track position as Austin Cindric, Joey Logano, and Josh Berry stayed out of the pits during the Brickyard 400's first caution yesterday although Ryan Blaney did not. Blaney's team had something else up his sleeve as he went well off-sequence in the race's final stage in an attempt to make it on fuel to the end after earlier stretching his fuel to win Stage 2. Although there was some speculation he might be able to do this, Blaney's team aborted this strategy early, but he did benefit from the crash on the first overtime restart and several other drivers running out of fuel during the second one, which helped him maintain his seventh-place points position. While it does nothing to erase his bad luck from earlier in the season, it's conceivable he could again make up for it in the playoffs.Tyler Reddick Eliminated from Brickyard 400 in Crash After Top Five Run
Source: Racing Reference
Although Tyler Reddick entered yesterday's Brickyard 400 as probably the favorite on paper, his teammate Bubba Wallace ultimately won the race. Reddick ran well throughout the event, starting fourth and driving quickly up to second, but in keeping with the rest of this season, he had a high average running position while rarely leading. Although Reddick led no laps in the event, he did come out of the pits third on the final green-flag pit cycle and inherited second behind Wallace after Joey Logano cut a tire. Aero push pretty much entirely prevented any passing for the lead and Reddick fell to sixth after suffering minor damage on a restart. When the late caution for rain came out, Reddick elected to pit before he was taken out in the crash on the first overtime restart. Although it was pretty much a worst-case scenario for Reddick, he still sits 138 points above the playoff cutline and could clinch a playoff spot next week.Cubs Eyeing MacKenzie Gore
MacKenzie Gore, according to Patrick Mooney and Sahadev Sharma of The Athletic. Whether a trade is realistic in this case is very much in question. The Nationals would get a haul for Gore, but it would be a risk to let interim general manager Mike DeBartolo pull the trigger on such a significant transaction. Beyond that, there's no rush for the Nats to ship out Gore, who has two years of arbitration control left after this season. The 26-year-old made the All-Star team in the first half and has put up a 3.52 ERA with 144 strikeouts against 44 walks over 117 2/3 innings. Gore's 4-10 record would likely improve on the contending Cubs, which would please fantasy managers.Source: Patrick Mooney, Sahadev Sharma - The Athletic
The Chicago Cubs are known to be looking for a starting pitcher before the July 31 trade deadline, and they're "very interested in" Washington Nationals left-hander Yankees Interested in Jake Bird
Jake Bird before Thursday's trade deadline, Brendan Kuty of The Athletic reports. However, it's unknown if the Rockies are open to moving Bird. The 29-year-old right-hander is currently on a minimal salary and still has three seasons of arbitration control remaining. Adding to Bird's value, he has logged good production this year with a 4.05 ERA (3.09 FIP), 62:21 K:BB, and 10 holds in 53 1/3 innings. If the Yankees were to pick up Bird, he'd give them another much-needed high-leverage arm in front of closer Devin Williams. With Fernando Cruz (oblique) and Mark Leiter Jr. (leg) on the 15-day injured list and a dearth of reliable setup men, they're in serious need of bullpen help.Source: Brendan Kuty - The Athletic
