Blade Tidwell Allows Three Runs in Loss
Blade Tidwell allowed three runs on four hits and one walk while striking out five in Tuesday's 5-3 loss against Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. Tidwell came in to pitch after opener Dedniel Nuñez and took the loss as he surrendered a good amount of hard contact, allowing a 91.3 average exit velocity. He was able to generate 10 whiffs on 38 swings and deliver in the strikeout category. This start brings the 24-year-old's season ERA to 4.14 to go with a 1.21 WHIP and a 69:24 K:BB in 58.2 innings. Tidwell made his MLB debut on May 4 and coughed up six runs in 3.2 innings, but we will likely see him in the majors again later in the summer.Source: MiLB.com
New York Mets pitching prospect Moises Ballesteros Goes Deep on Tuesday
Moises Ballesteros went 2-for-5 with a solo home run against Triple-A Louisville on Tuesday. Ballesteros got the scoring started in the bottom of the first inning with a 416-foot blast to right field. The 21-year-old came up for a brief stint with the big league club and had only a .466 OPS in 16-at at-bats. He's posted strong numbers all season at Triple-A, however, hitting .337/.389/.507 with an impressive 18:28 BB:K. Ballesteros played DH in all five games in the majors, and there's a chance he is called up again at some point later this summer.Source: MiLB.com
Chicago Cubs catching prospect Owen Caissie Slugs Three-Run Homer on Tuesday
Owen Caissie went 1-for-3 with a home run and three RBI in Tuesday's 8-5 loss against Triple-A Louisville. Caissie has gotten off to a blazing start in June, hitting .345/.441/.586 two home runs in 29 at-bats. The 22-year-old's prodigious raw power has been on display all season, with his quality of contact ranking among the best in Triple-A. His 18.6 percent barrel rate ranks sixth best. A concern with Caissie has been the prevalent swing-and-miss with a 33.5 percent strikeout rate. He is currently ranked as the number 46 prospect on MLB.com. The Cubs' outfield is pretty crowded for the time being, but an injury could open the door for Caissie at some point this season. He'd make for a solid speculative add in most formats.Source: MiLB.com
Chicago Cubs outfield prospect Jazz Chisholm Jr. Leaves Early on Tuesday With "Neck Tightness"
Jazz Chisholm Jr. (neck) left Tuesday's game early against the hosting Kansas City Royals at Kauffman Stadium with "neck tightness," according to the team. Chisholm was replaced in the seventh inning at third base by Oswald Peraza after he stole a base in the sixth inning. The 27-year-old went 1-for-4 with a double, a run scored and a strikeout in addition to his 10th steal of the season before leaving in the eventual 10-2 victory. We should know more about Chisholm's status after he's put through tests, but hopefully he won't need a second trip to the injured list this year. Peraza would be the obvious candidate to see additional playing time at the hot corner in the Bronx if Chisholm misses any more time. Chisholm came into Tuesday's game hitting just .214, but his power/speed combo in New York's potent offense makes him fantasy relevant in all leagues.Source: Newsday - Erik Boland
New York Yankees infielder Matt Vierling Resumes Throwing
Matt Vierling (shoulder) resumed throwing this week and is completing all other baseball activities on a daily basis, according to MLive's Evan Woodbery. Vierling was placed on the 10-day injured list on May 27 with right-shoulder inflammation and he received an injection last Thursday. The 28-year-old has been bothered by his shoulder injury all year and was only able to play in four games before going back on the IL. In four games played this year, he's gone 2-for-11 with two RBI and a strikeout for the first-place Tigers. It remains to be seen when Vierling will be able to return or what role he'll even have when he does rejoin the big-league roster, but in addition to the outfield, he has the ability to fill in at the hot corner and should at least play against left-handed pitchers. He had a career-high 16 long balls and 57 RBI in 144 games for Detroit last year.Source: MLive - Evan Woodbery
Detroit Tigers outfielder Alex Lange to Throw Live BP on Wednesday
Alex Lange (lat) is scheduled to throw a live batting practice session in Lakeland, Florida, on Wednesday, according to MLive's Evan Woodbery. Lange was cleared to face live hitters after a successful bullpen session on Saturday. The 29-year-old has been on the 60-day injured list all year while recovering from lat surgery. There's no timetable for his return, but barring a setback as he ramps his arm up, Lange is expected to return to the Tigers at some point this year. Expect Lange to have a lengthy minor-league rehab assignment, meaning we probably won't see him until some point in the second half. The former first-rounder by the Chicago Cubs in 2017 out of LSU had a career-high 26 saves in 2023 in Motown but posted a career-worst 4.34 ERA with only two saves last year before going down with his lat injury.Source: MLive - Evan Woodbery
Detroit Tigers right-hander Jose Urquidy Throws Another Bullpen Session on Tuesday
Jose Urquidy (elbow), who continues to recover from Tommy John surgery that he had in June of 2024, threw another bullpen session on Tuesday, according to MLive's Evan Woodbery. Urquidy tossed around 20 pitches in his previous bullpen on June 5 and is scheduled to ramp up his workload this week, according to manager A.J. Hinch. The 30-year-old veteran is on the 60-day injured list and will need a lengthy minor-league rehab assignment before the Tigers even think about having him return to the major leagues. Urquidy isn't expected to return until late in the 2025 season, if at all, which means fantasy managers in single-year leagues shouldn't count on relying on him. When he does return, there's a good chance he'll serve in a long-relief role out of Detroit's bullpen.Source: MLive - Evan Woodbery
Detroit Tigers right-hander Zebby Matthews to be Shut Down for Around Two Weeks
Zebby Matthews (shoulder) has been diagnosed with a moderate subscapularis strain in his right shoulder and will be re-evaluated after not throwing for around two weeks, according to The Athletic's Aaron Gleeman. We'll have a clearer picture of when Matthews might be able to return from the 15-day injured list, but it most likely won't happen until after the All-Star break in mid-July. While the 25-year-old is out, Simeon Woods Richardson will get another opportunity to hold down a starting-rotation spot in Minnesota. Matthews had a rough 6.69 ERA and 1.65 WHIP in his first nine big-league starts a year ago in 2024 and has posted an ERA over 5.00 with a 1.47 WHIP and 25:8 K:BB in his four starts in 2025 before going on the shelf. He showed plenty of strikeout stuff and good control in the minors, but so far he's struggled with home runs in the majors.Source: The Athletic - Aaron Gleeman
Minnesota Twins right-hander Lucas Giolito Shuts Down Rays
Lucas Giolito threw six scoreless innings in Tuesday's 3-1 win over the Tampa Bay Rays. He yielded three hits, three walks, and punched out four to notch his fourth quality start, improving to 2-1. It's a nice rebound for him after a disastrous meeting with the Los Angeles Angels his last time out. The 30-year-old has had a rollercoaster of a time through his first eight appearances, recording three outings with six or more earned runs and four with one or fewer. The result is an ugly 5.45 ERA and 1.54 WHIP. Despite the strong performance, Giolito will be tough to trust the next time he toes the rubber when Boston squares off against the Seattle Mariners on the road early next week.Source: ESPN
Boston Red Sox starting pitcher Luther Burden III Expected to be Ready for Training Camp

Sandy Alcantara Blanks Pirates in Third Win
Sandy Alcantara tossed six shutout innings in his team's 3-2 win against the Pittsburgh Pirates. He let up three hits, one walk, and struck out six to notch his second consecutive quality start. The Dominican Republic native easily compiled his best outing of 2025, yielding no earned runs for the first time all season, and picking up his first win in nearly two months (Apr. 12). That marks back-to-back solid outings for Alcantara, and the first time since his first two starts that he's allowed two earned runs or fewer. Maybe he's finally turned a corner after a few months of dismal performance. He'll look to keep it rolling in a much more difficult matchup his next time out -- early next week at home against the Philadelphia Phillies.Source: ESPN
Miami Marlins starting pitcher Colston Loveland on Track to be Ready for Training Camp
Colston Loveland (shoulder) hasn't taken part in any of the team's offseason workouts to this point after undergoing shoulder surgery in late January, but he remains on track to be ready to practice with the team in training camp this summer. The 21-year-old is nearly five months into a six-month recovery timetable and has been limited to stretching and light work during mandatory minicamp this week. He can run routes and catch passes but the remaining hurdle is regaining strength in his shoulder. It's good news that Loveland should be ready for training camp, but he's already missed valuable reps, and it's fair to be skeptical about his role in head coach Ben Johnson's offense with Cole Kmet still in the fold. Fantasy managers in redraft leagues shouldn't overpay for immediate production. Loveland is the TE18 in RotoBaller's preseason rankings.Source: 670 The Score - Chris Emma
Chicago Bears rookie first-round tight end Andrew Abbott Hurls Complete-Game Shutout
Andrew Abbott blanked the Cleveland Guardians over nine innings in Tuesday's 1-0 road win. The former second-round pick scattered three hits and issued one free pass while punching out five batters in the dominant performance. Cleveland picked up just one extra-base knock on the day (double). It was his first career complete game and shutout. Abbott has been brilliant this season, yielding one earned run or fewer in nine of 11 appearances. Furthermore, he's walked a lone batter in three straight starts. He'll carry an exceptional 1.87 ERA, 0.97 WHIP, and 6-1 record into his next outing -- a matchup with the visiting Minnesota Twins early next week.Source: ESPN
Cincinnati Reds starting pitcher 49ers Being Cautious With Ricky Pearsall
San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan said that wide receiver Ricky Pearsall (hamstring) was healthy to take part in mandatory minicamp this week, but the team is being careful with him and want him toread more...
Kenneth Walker III Limited at Minicamp With Ankle Injury
Kenneth Walker III (ankle) has been limited during practice due to an ankle injury, according to head coach Mike Macdonald. "But he should be fine," Macdonald added. It seems that Walker is always dealing with some kind of lower-body injury. The 24-year-old has yet to play a full season in the NFL and played just once in the final five weeks of the 2024 season due to an ankle injury before eventually finishing on Injured Reserve. It's yet another reminder that Walker is as injury-prone as they come as an RB2 in fantasy. When healthy, though, Walker has been productive, scoring 24 rushing touchdowns in 41 games over three seasons. Seattle is expected to lean heavily on their rushing attack in 2025, so Walker would be the primary beneficiary if he can stay on the field. Handcuffing Zach Charbonnet to him would be a wise move.Source: The Athletic - Michael-Shawn Dugar
Seattle Seahawks running back Jacob Wilson Battling Hamstring Tightness
Jacob Wilson (hamstring) is absent from Tuesday's contest with the Los Angeles Angels due to hamstring tightness. Per Kotsay, it was a precautionary benching with the A's on a long stretch of no rest. Fortunately, it sounds like Wilson is on the day-to-day side of things and shouldn't need more than a few to get himself right. Still, it's a situation to monitor as hamstring issues tend to linger if not appropriately managed. He's been a spark plug for the team at the top of the lineup, and was particularly blistering over his previous 11 outings with a superb .454 average (20-for-44).Source: Martin Gallegos
Athletics manager Mark Kotsay noted that shortstop Alvin Kamara Participating in Mandatory Minicamp
Alvin Kamara (groin) was taking part in the team's mandatory minicamp practice on Tuesday. After missing voluntary organized team activities recently, Kamara is back on the field with the Saints. The 29-year-old five-time Pro Bowler missed the final three games of the 2024 season with a groin injury, but he looks to be over the injury and should be a full-go for training camp this summer. The former third-rounder (67th overall) in 2017 surprisingly has never topped 1,000 yards rushing in his eight NFL campaigns, but he makes up for it in fantasy with his pass-catching prowess. Kamara has had at least 47 receptions in all eight seasons, which gives him a higher fantasy ceiling than most, especially in PPR leagues. Even though the Saints' offense could be mediocre given their QB situation, Kamara should be in play as an RB2 given his expected volume.Source: New Orleans Saints
New Orleans Saints running back Reese Olson to Throw a Bullpen on Wednesday
Reese Olson (finger) is scheduled to throw a bullpen session on Wednesday. Olson threw a bullpen on June 7 and felt fine, although he hasn't been able to throw his changeup without irritation to his right ring finger that landed him on the 15-day injured list on May 19. The 25-year-old will attempt to throw his changeup again on Wednesday, and the Tigers are "cautiously optimistic" that they'll get him "back sooner than later," according to general manager Jeff Greenberg. If Olson has a successful bullpen on Wednesday, he could be cleared to face live hitters and return to Detroit's starting rotation before the end of June. Before his finger injury, Olson was in the midst of a breakout season over just nine starts, recording a 2.96 ERA and 1.17 WHIP with 51 K's and 19 walks in 48 2/3 innings pitched.Source: MLive - Evan Woodbery
MLive's EvanWoodbery reports that Detroit Tigers right-hander Alex Cobb to Make Another Rehab Start on Wednesday
Alex Cobb (hip) is scheduled to continue his minor-league rehab start on Wednesday and start for Triple-A Toledo, according to MLive's Evan Woodbery. Cobb, who has been out all year due to right-hip inflammation, threw 2 1/3 hitless innings in his second rehab start for High-A West Michigan on June 6 and felt "incrementally better," according to manager A.J. Hinch. After throwing 50 pitches in his last rehab start, the 37-year-old right-hander will probably need a couple more outings in the minors before he becomes an option to be activated from the 60-day injured list to join the big-league roster. Cobb was a first-time All-Star in 2023 with the San Francisco Giants but made only three starts for Cleveland due to injury last year. He has never made 30 starts in a season and sports a below-average 7.5 K/9 in his 13-year career, limiting his fantasy appeal to much deeper leagues.Source: MLive - Evan Woodbery
Detroit Tigers right-hander Matt Chapman Dealing With Sprained Ligaments in his Hand
Matt Chapman (hand) said that he will miss more than 10 games on the injured list with a sprained hand, according to the San Francisco Chronicle's Susan Slusser. Chapman had an MRI exam on Monday that showed sprained ligaments, but he's hoping to be back before the end of the first half of the 2025 season. The 32-year-old veteran injured his right hand while diving back into first base on Sunday against the Atlanta Braves. Although he won't be back in 10 days, there's a chance Chapman could be back before the All-Star break in mid-July. Fantasy managers will want to stash the former first-rounder in all leagues, especially since he was hitting .395 (15-for-38) with three homers, five doubles, five RBI, two steals and seven runs in his last 11 games. Casey Schmitt should see most of the starts at third base in San Fran until Chapman returns.Source: San Francisco Chronicle - Susan Slusser

Shohei Ohtani Could Return to Pitching Sooner Than Anticipated
Shohei Ohtani (elbow) is making enough progress in his recovery from 2023 Tommy John surgery that he could pitch sooner than expected, manager Dave Roberts announced. Roberts said that the chances of Ohtani pitching before his post-All-Star break timeline are "north of zero," per Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic. Both Roberts and pitching coach Mark Prior came away encouraged from Ohtani's three-inning simulated game on Tuesday. Ohtani hasn't taken a major league mound since August 2023, but the two-way superstar has continued to make an enormous impact as a hitter. The Los Angeles Times' Jack Harris reported on Tuesday that Ohtani threw 44 pitches over three simulated innings, including 23 in his last inning, before the game at Petco Park against the Padres. He allowed a ground-ball single, one walk and had six strikeouts while inducing 15 total whiffs against a few minor-league hitters.Source: Fabian Ardays - The Athletics
Los Angeles Dodgers right-hander Jorge Mateo Placed on 10-Day Injured List
Jorge Mateo (elbow) on the 10-day injured list with left elbow inflammation, the team announced. The move is retroactive to June 7. The O's selected infielder Luis Vasquez from Triple-A Norfolk in a corresponding move. Mateo began feeling discomfort in his elbow after a collision with teammate Heston Kjerstad back on May 31, per Jake Rill of MLB.com. An MRI revealed no structural damage, but there's no timeline for Mateo's return. The defensively versatile 29-year-old has gotten off to a woeful start this season with a .180/.231/.279 line and one home run over 65 plate appearances. However, Mateo has once again been a good source of stolen bases. He's 14-of-15 on his attempts this year.Source: Jake Rill - MLB.com
The Orioles have placed infielder/outfielder Nathan Eovaldi Expected to Throw Bullpen This Weekend
Nathan Eovaldi (triceps) is in Arlington to undergo further diagnostic testing on his injured triceps, manager Bruce Bochy announced. The Rangers expect Eovaldi to throw a bullpen session this weekend. Eovaldi went on the 15-day IL with tightness in his triceps on June 1 (retroactive to May 29), derailing a fantastic start to the season for the 35-year-old. He stormed out of the gates with 69 1/3 innings of 1.56 ERA ball (3.37 xERA) and 73 strikeouts against a meager 10 walks before his IL stint. While it's unknown when Eovaldi will return, the Rangers have suggested his IL placement was precautionary. If that's the case, he could be back in their rotation soon.Source: Shawn McFarland - Dallas Morning News
Texas Rangers right-hander Lucas Erceg to Rejoin Royals on Wednesday
Lucas Erceg (back) is on track to rejoin the team on Wednesday, manager Matt Quatraro announced. Erceg has been on the 15-day injured list since May 27 with a low back strain, but he has been able to get through his rehab without incident. He threw a perfect inning for Triple-A Omaha on Sunday. The 30-year-old was a great source of holds before he landed on the shelf, picking up 13. He also pitched to an excellent 1.96 ERA (3.23 xERA) with 18:3 K:BB and a career-best 53.3% ground-ball rate over a 23-inning span.Source: Anne Rogers - MLB.com
Kansas City Royals right-handed reliever Nationals Call Up Andres Chaparro
Andres Chaparro from Triple-A Rochester on Tuesday and optioned infielder Nasim Nunez to Rochester in a corresponding move, according to president of baseball operations and general manager Mike Rizzo. Chaparro will be making his season debut for the Nats when he gets into a game after missing the first two months of the year with an oblique strain. The 26-year-old was hitting well at Rochester before his promotion, going 17-for-56 (.304) with five home runs, 19 RBI and eight runs scored in 15 games played. As a rookie in 2024, the Venezuelan hit .215 (26-for-121) with four homers and 15 RBI in his first 33 games. Chaparro is really only worth a look from fantasy managers looking for bench depth in deep NL-only leagues as a potential platoon guy against left-handed pitchers.Source: Nationals Communications
The Washington Nationals recalled infielder Craig Kimbrel Signs Minor-League Deal With Rangers
Craig Kimbrel signed a minor-league deal with the Texas Rangers on Tuesday, a source tells The Athletic's Ken Rosenthal. The Atlanta Braves recently recalled Kimbrel up from the minors but then designated him for assignment after just one appearance out of their bullpen. He elected free agency and has quickly latched on with another team. The 37-year-old will likely start at Triple-A Round Rock, but there's a good chance he'll find his way back to the big leagues before long in some sort of high-leverage setup role. Kimbrel held a nice 2.00 ERA, 0.94 WHIP, three saves, 23 strikeouts and nine walks in 18 relief innings with Double-A Columbus and Triple-A Gwinnett in the Braves organization. The nine-time All-Star has saved 440 games in his 16-year MLB career, but he faces an uphill battle to get back into fantasy relevance the rest of the 2025 season.Source: The Athletic - Ken Rosenthal
Veteran right-handed reliever Jacob Wilson Not in Lineup Tuesday
Jacob Wilson is not in the team's lineup against the Los Angeles Angels on Tuesday. It's not yet known why the Athletics scratched Wilson from their starting nine. Max Schuemann will take his place at shortstop and bat eighth. The 23-year-old Wilson is enjoying a sensational rookie season with a .366/.402/.520 line, eight home runs, and five stolen bases in 272 plate appearances. The hope is that he's not dealing with an injury, but the A's should have more information soon.Source: Athletics
Athletics shortstop Tristan Wirfs Sits Out Tuesday's Minicamp Practice
Baker Mayfield's blind side in Week 1.Source: ESPN.com - Jenna Laine
Tampa Bay Buccaneers All-Pro left tackle Tristan Wirfs (knee) didn't take part in the team's first mandatory minicamp practice on Tuesday and had a large brace on his right knee, according to ESPN's Jenna Laine. Head coach Todd Bowles said Wirfs is dealing with an offseason injury and that his absence from practice was "precautionary." "He'll be fine in training camp," Bowles said. Wirfs was the 13th overall pick by the Bucs in the 2020 NFL draft out of Iowa. He has started all 79 of the games that he's appeared in over his five NFL seasons and has made the Pro Bowl in each of the last four years, so he's pretty important for Tampa's offense as they enter yet another year with a new offensive coordinator. His injury will be something to keep an eye on in training camp this summer, but he should be ready to protect quarterback
