St. Louis Cardinals closer Ryan Helsley blew his fifth save of the season in Monday's 5-4 extra-inning loss to the Blue Jays. Helsley came in to pitch the top of the ninth inning up by one. He got the first out on a pop-out, allowed a game-tying solo homer, got the second out on a strikeout, allowed a double, and ended the inning with another strikeout. The 30-year-old, who was a National League All-Star last season, has already tied his career high in blown saves this season. He has notched 13 saves with a 3.75 ERA, a 1.54 WHIP, a 10.50 K/9 rate, and a 4.50 BB/9 rate in 24 innings of work. His walk rate has been an issue and he has allowed harder contact than in previous seasons, contributing to his bloated WHIP and ERA. The good news for fantasy managers is that Helsley still appears to have a firm grasp on the role, but he will need to start tightening things up.--Connelly DoanSource: MLB.com

Boston Red Sox top prospect Roman Anthony caused plenty of fanfare but did not contribute much to the action in Monday's 10-8 extra-inning loss to the Rays. The 21-year-old, who is the No. 1 overall prospect in all of baseball per MLB Pipeline, made his big-league debut in right field batting fifth. He went 0-for-4 with an RBI, a walk, and a strikeout. Anthony performed very well in the minors last season. He was also slashing .288/.423/.491 with Triple-A Worcester before getting the call-up, so there is plenty for fantasy managers to be excited about. He is already rostered in 62 percent of leagues, but that means he could still be available for some fantasy managers.--Connelly DoanSource: MLB.com

Pittsburgh Pirates outfielder Bryan Reynolds did his part offensively in Monday's 10-3 win over the Marlins. Reynolds went 2-for-5 with a single, a triple, and three RBI. The 30-year-old broke a 1-1 tie in the third inning, lacing a Eury Perez breaking pitch into the right-center gap to clear the bases. It was a bright spot for Reynolds in a season that has uncharacteristically had few so far. While Reynolds usually provides a high fantasy floor, he has slashed just .238/.311/.385 with eight home runs, 39 RBI, and three stolen bases in 283 plate appearances. His counting stats are relatively in line with how he has produced over the past several seasons, but hopefully, he can get his batting average up toward his .273 career mark.--Connelly DoanSource: MLB.com

Miami Marlins starting pitcher Eury Perez (elbow) did not have the best results in his 2025 season debut, taking the loss in a 10-3 game against the Pirates. Perez pitched three innings, allowing four runs on four hits and two walks with five strikeouts on 70 pitches. The 22-year-old had Tommy John surgery on his right elbow in April of last year and hadn't appeared in an MLB regular-season game since September of 2023. While the box score wasn't great, it was encouraging to see Perez back on the mound for the Marlins topping out at 99.7 MPH. Perez looked great from a fantasy perspective in 2023 and had success in his minor-league rehab assignment this season, but fantasy managers will need to be patient as he gets back into the swing of things. His next scheduled start will be a decent matchup at the Nationals.--Connelly DoanSource: Christina De Nicola - MLB.com

Atlanta Braves starting pitcher Chris Sale was dialed in for Monday's 7-1 win over the Brewers. Sale pitched seven innings, allowing one run on five hits and two walks with a season-high 11 strikeouts. The 36-year-old has shown no signs of slowing down after earning the National League Cy Young Award last season. He has been excellent in his first two seasons with the Braves after an up-and-down tenure with the Red Sox. Sale is now 4-4 with a 2.79 ERA, a 1.21 WHIP, and an 11.94 K/9 rate in 14 starts and 80 2/3 IP. His next start will be an excellent matchup against the Rockies at home.--Connelly DoanSource: MLB.com

Philadelphia Phillies infield/outfield prospect Otto Kemp recorded his first major league hit on Monday, finishing with three hits in the game in five at-bats, and he scored once in the 4-3 extra-innings win over the Cubs. The 25-year-old went hitless in his first five at-bats in the big leagues, and we'll see how he performs going forward now with some confidence under his belt. The Phils' 24th-ranked prospect was on fire prior to his call-up, slashing .313/.416/.594 with 14 home runs and 11 steals in 58 games. Kemp was called up when Bryce Harper (wrist) hit the IL, but if he continues to hit, Philadelphia may have some tough decisions to make when Harper returns. As for fantasy, Kemp could be a speculative add for his power and ability to steal bases in deep leagues, especially given his eligibility at both 3B and 2B on Yahoo!.--Jarod RuppSource: ESPN

Milwaukee Brewers shortstop prospect Cooper Pratt went 3-for-4 with an RBI, a run scored, and stole two bases on Sunday for Double-A Biloxi. After slashing .265/.346/.404 over his first 35 games, the 20-year-old went into a 7-for-59 (.119) funk over his next 16 contests. The 6-foot-3 slugger is now slashing .231/.314/.342 for the year after his three-hit game, with 10 doubles, four home runs, and 12 steals. The Brewers will likely want to see a continuation of Sunday's performance for a while before considering pushing him to Triple-A, and Milwaukee's third-ranked prospect, who has solid all-around tools, has an MLB ETA of 2027 per MLB.com.--Jarod RuppSource: MiLB.com

Cleveland Guardians infield prospect Angel Genao (shoulder) was activated from the seven-day injured list and is now back with Double-A Akron as of this past Friday. The 21-year-old suffered a right shoulder sprain in spring training that has kept him out until this point, but he recently completed an eight-game rehab assignment with the ACL Guardians during which time he went 8-for-26 (.308) with three home runs and a 6:4 BB:K. The switch-hitter played his first game of the year for the RubberDucks on Friday, going hitless in four at-bats in his season debut. The Guardians' fourth-ranked prospect (MLB No. 52) is coming off a phenomenal 2024 campaign and could find himself in Triple-A in the latter half of the season with a strong showing at Double-A. He looks like a potential multi-category fantasy producer in the making, so dynasty managers should be keeping a close eye on how he performs over the next couple of months.--Jarod RuppSource: MiLB.com

Seattle Mariners pitching prospect Jurrangelo Cijntje (arm) was pulled from his start back on May 31 with general arm soreness and hasn't pitched since, but is scheduled to get back into the rotation for High-A Everett this Wednesday. The switch-handed pitcher has performed well so far this year when deployed as a starter (12 appearances, nine starts), posting a 2.75 ERA, 1.07 WHIP, and 42 in 39 1/3 innings pitched. Hopefully this was just a bump in the road and will not be a recurring problem throughout the season. The Mariners' eighth-ranked prospect is an intriguing prospect with the ability to pitch as both a lefty and a righty, and it will be interesting to see if that helps him get fast-tracked to the majors sooner than his 2027 ETA per MLB.com.--Jarod RuppSource: MLB.com

Athletics left-hander Brady Basso (shoulder) felt good after throwing an inning with Single-A Stockton during a minor-league rehab outing on Sunday, according to MLB.com's Martin Gallegos. The A's are looking at using him in a relief role, which could get him back to the big leagues quicker. Basso is currently on the 60-day injured list and has yet to pitch in the big leagues this year due to his shoulder injury, but he could be an option out of their bullpen before the All-Star break. The 27-year-old southpaw made his MLB debut with the A's last year and posted a 4.03 ERA (3.88 FIP) and 1.25 WHIP with 19 strikeouts and five walks in seven outings (four starts) over 22 1/3 innings. Basso relies on command and doesn't have strikeout stuff, so he certainly won't be in play in mixed fantasy leagues when he returns to the majors in 2025.--Keith HernandezSource: MLB.com - Martin Gallegos

Philadelphia Phillies outfielder Brandon Marsh hit a bases-loaded single in the bottom of the 11th inning to send the Phillies to a 4-3 win over the Cubs on Monday. He actually entered the game as a pinch hitter initially, and collected two singles in his three at-bats. While it'll go down as a single on the stat sheets, the ball was a rocket to the warning track that would have been a double if it hadn't won the game. Hopefully this is the spark that the 27-year-old needed to get going, as he's slashed just .228/.331/.325 on the season. The one silver lining of his profile has been a 13.4% walk rate, which has kept his on-base percentage manageable during the slump.--Jeremy HeistSource: MLB.com

Athletics third baseman Gio Urshela (hamstring) is expected to begin a rehab assignment this week, reports Martin Gallegos of MLB.com. He has been on the injured list since May 23 with a left hamstring strain. A few weeks off isn't that long in the grand scheme of things, so he should be able to progress quickly and return to the major league lineup next week. It's not clear how much playing time Urshela will get once he is activated, as there's about to be a logjam between him, Luis Urias, Max Muncy, and Zack Gelof once he is also healthy.--Jeremy HeistSource: Martin Gallegos

After coming perilously close to the playoff bubble after three straight crashes at Texas, Kansas, and Charlotte, Bubba Wallace recovered with a fourth-place finish at Michigan. When coupled with both Alex Bowman and Chase Briscoe failing to finish in the top twenty and scoring no stage points, this significantly strengthened Wallace's playoff position. Wallace ran in the top ten for most of the race, although pit strategy pushed him back occasionally. After finishing eighth in Stage 1 and seventh in Stage 2, he made a furious charge late in the race to drive from tenth to fourth in the last 22 laps, passing Kyle Larson on the last lap. He now sits tenth in the championship, 61 points ahead of Ryan Preece, who holds the final playoff spot in a tiebreaker over Kyle Busch.--Sean Wrona - RotoBallerSource: Racing Reference

Ryan Blaney's 2025 bad luck continued at Michigan on Sunday. After taking the lead in the pits after finishing sixth in Stage 1, he fell out of the top 10 after pitting during the caution for Alex Bowman's crash. While driving up through the field, he blew a tire while running 12th and spun onto pit road to trigger the race's fifth caution. Although Blaney returned to the track for points, he finished four laps down in 32nd. The race had minimal impact for Blaney as he maintains his seventh-place points position, and since he won last week at Nashville, he remains locked into the playoffs. Blaney would definitely prefer for bad luck to befall him at this point in the season than during the playoff races.--Sean Wrona - RotoBallerSource: Racing Reference

Alex Bowman's chances of making the playoffs have become increasingly doubtful after he crashed and finished last in Sunday's Michigan race. Although Bowman had typically been running well before bad luck struck earlier this season, he didn't even run well as he started 16th and had faded to 26th before crashing on Lap 67. Although Bowman still sits 13 points above the playoff cut line, it's likely that Carson Hocevar and a road-course specialist will win and knock him out of the playoffs. If Bowman runs as well as he did earlier this season, he certainly still could overtake drivers like Chris Buescher and Chase Briscoe to give himself a better chance, but the way he ran in Sunday's race (a race where his teammates all fought for the lead), it now seems he is more likely to miss the playoffs than make them.--Sean Wrona - RotoBallerSource: Racing Reference

Athletics second baseman Zack Gelof (ribs) is expected to begin a rehab assignment this week, Martin Gallegos of MLB.com reports. He's already had to fight through multiple injuries in 2025, as the stress fracture in his ribs occurred while on a rehab stint to recover from hamate bone surgery that he underwent in March. The 25-year-old will fit in nicely with a young Athletics lineup that is taking a huge step forward this year. The youngster is coming off of a 2024 season where he hit 17 home runs and stole 25 bases, and his power could play up even more in Sutter Health Park. However, it also wouldn't be surprising if he struggled out of the gate, as the recovery from hamate bone surgery has a reputation for sapping power from hitters. Only time will tell but expect to see Gelof activated by the end of the month.--Jeremy HeistSource: MLB.com

Minnesota Twins starting pitcher Simeon Woods Richardson is expected to be called back up to join the major league rotation on Tuesday, reports Ari Alexander of KPRC 2 Houston. With Pablo Lopez and Zebby Matthews both going on the injured list, it leaves a spot for the 24-year-old to face off against the Rangers. He'll be looking to turn his season around, considering he posted a 5.02 ERA and 1.54 WHIP in 37 ⅔ innings earlier in the season. It's not likely the youngster will be fantasy-relevant, considering even in Triple-A he allowed eight runs over 17 innings.--Jeremy HeistSource: Ari Alexander

Free-agent running back Cam Akers will try out for the New Orleans Saints this week during their mandatory minicamp, a league source tells Nick Underhill. Akers spent last year with the Houston Texans and Minnesota Vikings, combining for 104 carries for 444 rushing yards and two touchdowns while adding 14 receptions on 18 targets for 68 receiving yards and three additional TDs. The 25-year-old former second-rounder (52nd overall) by the Los Angeles Rams in 2020 out of Florida State would serve in a depth role for the Saints if he were to impress them this week and sign a contract for 2025. Alvin Kamara is still the team's workhorse back under new head coach Kellen Moore, with former third-rounder Kendre Miller and rookie sixth-rounder Devin Neal expected to compete for the RB2 role at training camp this summer. Akers has torn his Achilles twice and remains off the fantasy radar for now.--Keith HernandezSource: NewOrleans.Football - Nick Underhill

Los Angeles Dodgers starting pitcher Tyler Glasnow (shoulder) is back to throwing off the mound after a brief shutdown due to back soreness, reports Bill Plunkett of The Orange County Register. The ace has been on the injured list since April 27 due to shoulder inflammation, so the back soreness that popped up wasn't considered to be serious. Once he does start a minor league rehab stint in the coming weeks, it likely won't be as long as teammate Blake Snell's, since Glasnow was able to get four full starts under his belt before suffering the injury. In those 18 innings, the right-hander posted a 4.50 ERA and 1.28 WHIP.--Jeremy HeistSource: Bill Plunkett

Buffalo Bills running back James Cook is currently in Buffalo and will attend mandatory minicamp this week, a source tells the Circling the Wagons Podcast. Cook and the Bills aren't close to agreeing to a contract extension, which led to the belief that the 25-year-old wouldn't show up for minicamp this week. However, Cook may have reconsidered so that he won't be fined. He didn't show up for voluntary organized team activities in April and May as he heads into the final year of his current contract. The two-time Pro Bowler had his second straight 1,000-yard rushing season and also led the NFL with 16 rushing touchdowns in 16 regular-season starts in 2024, adding 32 catches for 258 yards and two more TDs. Fantasy managers need to expect regression in the TD department. Remember, he had only two scores on the ground in each of 2022 and 2023. RotoBaller has Cook ranked as the RB13 going into 2025.--Keith HernandezSource: Circling The Wagons Podcast

Los Angeles Dodgers starting pitcher Blake Snell (shoulder) is set to throw a bullpen session on Tuesday, reports Bill Plunkett of The Orange County Register. This will be a significant step in his rehab process, as the lefty recovers from shoulder inflammation that has sidelined him since April 2. The 32-year-old made it this far in his recovery last month too, but was shut down when his first bullpen session caused further inflammation. The extended absence means the two-time Cy Young winner still has a long road ahead that will include many rehab starts.--Jeremy HeistSource: Bill Plunkett

Cleveland Guardians infield prospect Juan Brito (thumb) is tracking toward playing in the rookie-level Arizona Complex League this week as he works his way back from surgery on his right thumb back in late April to fix a torn ligament, according to MLB.com's Tim Stebbins. Brito, the team's No. 10 prospect per MLB Pipeline, was hitting .291/.406/.491 with an .897 OPS, two home runs, 10 RBI, 11 runs scored and four stolen bases in 16 games with Triple-A Columbus before landing on the seven-day minor-league injured list. The 23-year-old Dominican switch-hitter is nearing a return to minor-league action and could be a candidate to make his major-league debut later this season if he continues to hit the ball well upon his return. Brito never showed much power until last year, when he hit 21 bombs in 144 games. Fantasy-wise, Brito won't have a very high ceiling with fringy speed and questionable power at second base.--Keith HernandezSource: MLB.com - Tim Stebbins

MLB.com's Tim Stebbins reports that Cleveland Guardians right-hander Trevor Stephan (elbow) will start a minor-league rehab assignment on Tuesday in the rookie-level Arizona Complex League. Stephen is attempting to return from Tommy John surgery that kept him out of action for the entire 2024 season. Because of how long he's been out, the 29-year-old should require a lengthy rehab assignment and probably won't be an option at the big-league level until after the mid-July All-Star break. When he's finally ready to return, Stephen will join Cleveland's bullpen and won't have any fantasy value in most leagues. He went 7-7 in 2023 with a 4.06 ERA (3.56 FIP), a 1.29 WHIP, two saves, 75 strikeouts and 26 walks in 71 relief appearances in 2023, one season after posting a career-low 2.69 ERA with three saves in 63 2/3 innings.--Keith HernandezSource: MLB.com - Tim Stebbins

Cleveland Guardians right-handed pitching prospect Andrew Walters (lat) underwent surgery on his right lat on Monday, according to MLB.com's Tim Stebbins. It's a pretty significant surgery, so Walters should be expected to miss the remainder of the 2025 season. Depending on how his recovery goes this winter, there's a chance he might not be ready for spring training or the 2026 season, either. The club's No. 11 prospect, per MLB Pipeline, was moved to the 60-day injured list recently and had been out since late May. The 24-year-old former second-rounder in 2023 out of Miami made two appearances out of the bullpen for the Guards this year and surrendered two earned runs while walking none and striking out two in just 1 1/3 innings. Walters features a mid-to-high-90s heater with a plus slider and has the making of a future closer at the big-league level if he can improve his command.--Keith HernandezSource: MLB.com - Tim Stebbins

Edmonton Oilers forward Ryan Nugent-Hopkins (undisclosed) is expected to play in Game 3 of the Stanley Cup Finals against the Florida Panthers on Monday night. Per Dan Rosen of NHL.com, Nugent-Hopkins took pregame line rushes in his usual spot on the top line next to Connor McDavid and Corey Perry. The veteran forward has experienced considerable success in this role in the playoffs, averaging a point per game over 18 outings, though Nugent-Hopkins has been held scoreless in the first two matchups against the Panthers.--Taavi PailkSource: Dan Rosen

San Diego Padres right-hander Michael King (shoulder) is continuing to rest and gather information about his shoulder injury, Dennis Lin of The Athletic reports. "We're just in a holding pattern to see what it is and the best way to treat it, if there is a better way to treat it outside of just the rest," manager Mike Shildt said. The Padres have been without King since inflammation forced him to the 15-day injured list on May 25 (retroactive to May 22). The loss of King has been significant for the Padres and fantasy managers alike. He stormed out of the gates this year with a 2.59 ERA and 64 strikeouts against 17 walks in 55 2/3 innings before going on the shelf. Unfortunately, it doesn't appear his return is imminent.--Connor ByrneSource: Dennis Lin - The Athletic

Milwaukee Brewers outfielder Garrett Mitchell (oblique) has resumed baseball activities, according to the team. The Brewers have gone about a month and a half without Mitchell, who went on the 10-day injured list on April 26 with a left oblique strain. If all goes well during his rehab, he could return to the majors in late June. The 26-year-old hit a productive .255/.342/.469 with six home runs in 11 steals over a 69-game, 224-plate appearance span in 2024. However, Mitchell slumped to a .206/.286/.294 mark with no homers in 25 games and 78 trips to the plate before suffering the injury this year. Mitchell opened the season as the Brewers' primary center fielder, but Jackson Chourio has shifted from left field to take his place.--Connor ByrneSource: MLB.com

Washington Capitals right wing T.J. Oshie (back) announced his retirement on Monday. He sat out the entire 2024-25 campaign due to a chronic back problem and has now decided to call it a day for good. Oshie spent 16 seasons in the NHL, posting 695 points (302 goals, 393 assists) in 1010 regular-season outings. He started out with the St. Louis Blues before moving to Washington in 2015. Oshie, who turned 38 in December, won the Stanley Cup with the Capitals in 2019. This season marks the end of Oshie's eight-year, $46 million contract he signed with the Capitals in June 2017. The veteran forward spent the season on Long-Term Injured Reserve.--Taavi PailkSource: NHL.com
