Xander Bogaerts Targeting Late-Season Return
Xander Bogaerts (foot) has resumed light baseball activities and hopes to come off the 10-day injured list for the final week of the regular season. Bogaerts has been out for almost two weeks after fouling a ball off his left foot and suffering a non-displaced fracture on Aug. 27. Over 131 games and 534 plate appearances this season, the 32-year-old has hit a decent .262/.330/.387 with 10 homers, 49 RBI, 60 runs scored, and 20 stolen bases. The Padres, who hold a wild-card spot and trail the NL West-leading Los Angeles Dodgers by two games, have mostly turned to Jose Iglesias to handle short in Bogaerts' absence.
