Edgleen Perez Heads to Pittsburgh
Rafael Flores and Brian Sanchez, to the Pirates for David Bednar. Perez was the No. 14 prospect in the Yankees system and profiles as a plus defensive catcher. His offense is a work in progress for the 19-year-old, but he has shown excellent patience with a 17.9% walk rate at Low-A this year, but just a .209 batting average and .236 slugging percentage. He was much more productive in rookie ball in 2024, hitting .283/.444/.380 with a 136 wRC+ in 216 plate appearances. Perez perojects to have the highest ceiling of the prospects included in the deal, but the lowest floor as well given his age and struggles at the plate this season.
