Michael Toglia Demoted to Triple-A
Michael Toglia to Triple-A Albuquerque, per a team announcement. In other moves, the Rockies placed right-handed reliever Seth Halvorsen (elbow) on the 15-day injured list with an elbow strain and recalled righty Nick Anderson and catcher Braxton Fulford. A first-round pick of the Rockies in 2019, Toglia appeared in a career-high 116 games last season and showed off some power and base-running value with 25 home runs and 10 stolen bases over 458 plate appearances. Toglia's .218/.311/.456 line was roughly league average, but he's down to a miserable .194/.261/.361 with 11 HRs, 32 RBI, 22 runs scored, and three steals in 329 plate appearances this season. The 26-year-old's strikeout rate has soared from 32.1% to 38.3% since 2024, which makes his struggles unsurprising. Toglia has gotten the vast majority of starts at first base for the Rockies this year, but Warming Bernabel has taken over the job since they promoted him on July 26.
