Fernando Cruz to Return From Injured List on Monday
Fernando Cruz (oblique) from the 15-day injured list on Monday, Bryan Hoch of MLB.com reports. Cruz last pitched on June 27 and has missed about two months with a strained left oblique, depriving the Yankees of one of their most reliable high-leverage arms. The 35-year-old has pitched to a 3.00 ERA with a 1.00 WHIP, 54:14 K:BB, nine holds, and two saves in 33 innings. The Yankees' attempt to build a super-bullpen with the acquisitions of David Bednar, Camilo Doval, and Jake Bird (now in Triple-A) at the July 31 trade deadline hasn't panned out, but getting Cruz back should help their cause.
