Braxton Garrett To Make Rehab Start Sunday
8 months agoMiami Marlins left-hander Braxton Garrett (shoulder) will make a minor-league rehab start for Triple-A Jacksonville on Sunday. Garrett is ready to embark on a minor-league rehab assignment after throwing a three-inning simulated game earlier this week. The 26-year-old southpaw will probably need another rehab start in the minors before the Fish consider activating him from the injured list to join the major-league starting rotation. With both Sandy Alcantara (elbow) and Eury Perez (elbow) now out for the year, the Marlins need all the help they can get in their rotation now. Garrett is recovering from a left-shoulder impingement in spring training and is worth a waiver-wire pickup in deep-mixed leagues when he's healthy.
