Expert NBA DFS Picks for DraftKings and FanDuel (2/6/24)

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Oklahoma City Thunder

Free expert daily fantasy basketball lineup picks for today's slate on DraftKings and FanDuel. Use Max Kulish's NBA DFS expert picks to building winning DFS lineups on February 6, 2024.

Welcome back, RotoBallers! Tonight we've got a six-game slate headlined by a TNT doubleheader of Mavs at the Nets and Bucks at the Suns. These articles focus on the overall best plays, which are typically more suited for cash games. However, some exceptions may apply, depending on the size of the slate.

The key to being successful in NBA DFS comes down to making adjustments during the day as injury information becomes available. But it's always really important to have a game plan and the best players and spots circled first before making those adjustments. To keep up with all the latest developments and get access to updated projections, grab an NBA season pass and also gain access to our RotoBaller Premium Discord where @chiefjustice6 is talking about the slate up until lineups lock!

This article will provide you with my daily fantasy basketball lineup picks for DraftKings and FanDuel on 2/6/24. Remember to monitor NBA injury news and our awesome NBA injuries report tool, as the slate can completely change before lineups lock at 7:00 p.m. EST on FanDuel and DraftKings. As always, feel free to follow my X/Twitter (@Maxadelphia) to keep up to date with NBA news and for my nightly NBA bets if you're into that sort of thing. Let's go!

Today's NBA DFS Core Plays

Let's first take a look at our premium projections to see who we want to target for our top spend-ups tonight.

Since the Bucks at Suns game isn't featured on the main slate on DraftKings, the top end is all about your choice of guards. The three most expensive players on the slate are all PGs, and just like Pokemon, you'll be picking one of three options to start your team. Luka Doncic and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander figure to be two of the most popular plays on the slate. Jalen Brunson has been nothing short of amazing lately but has the biggest risk of blowing out his opponent and limiting his ceiling.

SGA is in an amazing spot tonight in Utah; this game boasts the highest implied total on the slate of 242.5, and when these two teams faced off a few weeks ago, the final score was 134-129 to the Thunder.

Mavs vs. Nets is the other game that stands out from the crowd from a DFS perspective. This game's implied total is at 234, which is the third highest after the previously mentioned OKC at UTA, and also after HOU at IND. However, this game stands out because both teams are on a back-to-back, and prices have either been unadjusted or barely adjusted for most players.

Unfortunately, Luka is the only one who didn't benefit from this, as he posted only 36 fantasy points, which is nearly 30 points below his average. On the Nets side, Nicolas Claxton had a career game with seven blocks but was ejected late. Both of these teams are dealing with some injuries, which helps consolidate usage, but also consolidates ownership.

Top Core Plays:

  1. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, OKC at UTA – PG ($10,500 DK; $11,700 FD)
  2. Luka Doncic, DAL at BKN – PG ($12,000 DK; $12,600 FD)
  3. Nicolas Claxton, BKN vs. DAL - C ($7,100 DK; $7,700 FD)

Today's NBA DFS Value Plays

Any slate featuring the current iteration of the Memphis Grizzlies is going to dictate the value plays on the slate. In this case, their opponent is also dealing with some key injuries, making Grizzlies at Knicks the place to start looking for value tonight. The Grizzlies are as thin as can be currently; their most expensive player going into Sunday's blowout in Boston was Vince Williams Jr. priced at only $6,400. The Grizzlies played that game with only eight active players, and at this rate, it doesn't look like it'll be any more than that again.

The Knicks are dealing with their fair share of injuries as well, with starting forwards Julius Randle and OG Anunoby both not playing. We should continue to see Villanova alums Josh Hart and Donte DiVincenzo start in their places -- both of whom have performed admirably and will likely continue to be popular plays.

Again mentioning DAL at BKN, both teams were dealing with some depth injuries heading into last night's games and the Nets had both Cameron Johnson and Lonnie Walker leave the game against Golden State early with injuries. If either is held out, that bumps up both Dennis Smith Jr and Royce O'Neale in a big way.

The last spot I want to mention is the OKC frontcourt. Assuming Jalen Williams misses this game, the Thunder will continue being shallow on the wings. Aaron Wiggins has been playing exceptionally well the last few games in place of all of these injured players; priced at $3,500 with eligibility at both forward spots, Wiggins is cheap and flexible and allows you access to stacking your team with guards.

Top Value Plays:

  1. GG Jackson II, MEM at NYK – SF/PF ($5,600 DK; $5,800 FD)
  2. Aaron Wiggins, OKC at UTA – SF/PF ($3,500 DK; $4,600 FD)
  3. Scotty Pippen Jr., MEM at NYK – PG/SG ($5,400 DK; $6,100 FD)

Today's NBA DFS Lineup Picks: Point Guard

SGA is my favorite play on the slate when considering price. He's on an absolute heater over his last four games (check the tweet below), and this matchup against a Jazz team that does not play a lot of defense makes this an easy decision for me.

Top PG Options:

  1. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, OKC at UTA ($10,500 DK; $11,700 FD)
  2. Luka Doncic, DAL at BKN ($12,000 DK; $12,600 FD)
  3. Scotty Pippen Jr., MEM at NYK ($5,400 DK; $6,100 FD)

Today's NBA DFS Lineup Picks: Shooting Guard

Speaking of guys on heaters; don’t sleep on Cam Thomas. Although he cooled off a bit last night, this game figures to see much less defense with two teams on no rest. HOU at IND has a handful of options in the $4-5.5K range.

Top SG Options:

  1. Cam Thomas, BKN vs. GS, ($7,300 DK; $7,400 FD)
  2. Donte DiVincenzo, NYK vs. MEM, ($7,400 DK; $7,600 FD)
  3. Dennis Smith Jr., BKN vs. GS, ($4,200 DK; $5,100 FD)

Today's NBA DFS Lineup Picks: Small Forward

SF is ripe with midrange and value options tonight, and it looks like anyone > $6K is going to be scarcely owned. Finding the guy who's going to put him 7-8x value will be key to separating on this slate where everyone is loading up on guards.

Top SF Options:

  1. Gregory Jackson II, MEM at NYK ($5,600 DK; $5,800 FD)
  2. Josh Green, DAL at BKN, ($5,100 DK; $4,900 FD)
  3. Cam Whitmore, HOU at IND, ($4,600 DK; $5,700 FD)

Today's NBA DFS Lineup Picks: Power Forward

PF isn't looking much different than SF -- most of the common builds will be cheap at SF & PF to pay up for guards. There aren't even many decent options with C eligibility either, so I'll be focusing all three forward roster spots on cheaper plays.

Top PF Options:

  1. Aaron Wiggins, OKC at UTA ($3,500 DK; $4,600 FD)
  2. Paolo Banchero, ORL at MIA, ($8,400 DK; $8,500 FD)
  3. Royce O'Neale (if Cam Johnson and/or Lonnie Walker are ruled out), BKN vs. DAL, ($4,100 DK; $6,100 FD)

Today's NBA DFS Lineup Picks: Center

There only being six games doesn’t leave us with a ton of options. However, the two that stand out the most at center are Claxton and Kleber. Both are part of this DAL at BKN game that keeps being mentioned, and both are seizing the opportunity provided to them by injuries at their position group.

Top C Options:

  1. Nicolas Claxton, BKN vs. DAL, ($6,900 DK; $7,700 FD)
  2. Maxi Kleber, DAL at BKN, ($4,500 DK; $4,600 FD)
  3. Rudy Gobert, MIN at CHI, ($6,900 DK; $8,000 FD)

Today's Top NBA DFS Game Stacks

  1. Thunder at Jazz (242.5 total)
  2. Rockets at Pacers (239 total)
  3. Mavs at Nets (234 total)

Today's Top NBA DFS Avoids

  1. Stay away from Tyrese Haliburton, his minute restriction makes him unplayable at price.
  2. I'm not sure I'd fully avoid the Knicks, but be wary of playing their expensive plays -- this Grizzlies team is very bad and the game could get out of hand.

My Favorite NBA DFS Lineup Picks for Today

Here is where I leave you with some of my favorites.

  • My favorite overall play on the slate: Shai Gilgeous-Alexander
  • My favorite CASH play on the slate: Maxi Kleber
  • My favorite GPP play on the slate: Cam Thomas
  • My favorite value play: Aaron Wiggins
