Is Omarion Hampton Out for the 2025 Season?
Hampton's injury occurred in Week 5's matchup with the Commanders while he was trying to run a route in the third quarter. His foot collided with the foot and shin area of Frankie Luvu, who was rushing the passer. Hampton was able to get up and get off the field without much issue, but he was seen testing his foot on the sideline and did not re-enter the game.
After the game, he was spotted in a walking boot, but the hope was still that he would avoid a trip to the IR. Without announcing a firm timeline, the team ultimately was forced to place him on IR, though, meaning he would miss at least through Week 9 with a potential return in Week 10 against the Steelers.
Just because he will be eligible to return, though, doesn't mean he'll be ready to return. In fact, after the Chargers' Thursday Night Football win in Week 8, Hampton was still in the walking boot while leaving the locker room.
The fact that he's still in the boot makes a Week 10 return very unlikely, and could mean he's out much longer. His return date has been changed to "an unspecified window." Another less-than-ideal sign for Hampton is how aggressive the Chargers are being on the trade front at running back.
"The trade deadline is three weeks from tomorrow..
I would think that there will be trades made this week..

They haven't brought in a replacement yet, but they're looking for options, which would seem to indicate that Hampton could still be a while before returning.
Omarion Hampton 2025 Fantasy Football Outlook
Hampton still has fantasy value for when he returns, as long as he makes it back this season. He was expected to share time this season with Najee Harris (Achilles), but with Harris out, he stepped in as the Chargers' full-time running back.
In Week 3, Hampton had 70 rushing yards and a touchdown, along with 59 receiving yards on six catches. The next week, he ran for 128 yards and a touchdown and added five catches for 37 more yards. In those two full games, he showed his upside as a full-time back, but then he left with an injury the following week.
Even if Hampton is out until after the team's Week 12 bye week, he has a juicy schedule down the stretch, with the Raiders, the Eagles, and the Cowboys in Week 13 through Week 16. The Chiefs are a tough matchup, but other than that, he has a great stretch that coincides with the fantasy playoffs in most leagues.
He's worth holding since he could come back just in time for the stretch run and get back to ripping off runs like this one:
