Tyler Wells Scheduled to Start for Orioles on Tuesday
Tyler Wells (elbow) is scheduled to come off the 60-day injured list and start against the San Diego Padres on Tuesday. Wells hasn't taken the mound in the majors since April 12, 2024, as he was shut down with elbow troubles and had to have internal-brace surgery on his UCL. Almost 15 months after going under the knife in June 2024, he'll come back to finish out the season as part of a six-man Orioles rotation. The 31-year-old made five Triple-A rehab starts this summer and notched a terrific 2.70 ERA with a 1.20 WHIP and 23:6 K:BB in 23 1/3 innings. Wells hasn't been as successful in the majors, where he has totaled 95 appearances (46 starts) and recorded a decent 4.06 ERA with a 1.05 WHIP, 8.28 K/9, and 2.35 BB/9 over 294 2/3 frames.
