When will Chris Godwin return and play? Will Chris Godwin be back again this season? Read the latest Chris Godwin injury updates and return date for Week 11 (2025).
The Buccaneers are 6-3 through nine games this season, but they are in a tough matchup during Week 11 against the Bills in Buffalo. They lost in Week 10 to the Patriots after coming back from their bye week, and one area where they need depth is at wide receiver. With Mike Evans (collarbone) still out multiple weeks, Chris Godwin could give the team a big boost if he's able to get back on the field soon.
Godwin has missed the last five weeks with a fibula injury, but he has been able to return to limited practice this week.
When will Chris Godwin Jr. return to action, and what is his fantasy football outlook when he does? Let's dive in.

Chris Godwin Injury Update
Godwin missed the first three weeks of this season while still recovering from last year's brutal ankle injury. In Week 7 of 2024 against the Ravens, Godwin suffered a grisly dislocated ankle and fractured fibula that ended his season. He was a free agent, but the Bucs brought him back with a new three-year deal and stated that they were hopeful he could be ready for Week 1.
He didn't make that timeline but was able to avoid IR to start the year and make his season debut in Week 3 against the Eagles. He caught 3-of-10 targets for 26 yards, while looking understandably rusty. The following week, he played against the Buccaneers, but he left that game early and has not been able to play since.
According to coach Todd Bowles, he suffered a fibula issue in a different spot than the break last year, which caused him to be week-to-week. He didn't practice through the team's bye week or before their Week 10 matchup, but he has logged back-to-back limited sessions on Wednesday and Thursday.

The fact that he's back in practice is a good sign that he'll be back soon, although the injury and his recent recovery make the situation complicated. The team will probably ease him back into work when he is ready to play, and we'll have more information when he gets an official injury status for Week 11.
Chris Godwin Fantasy Football Outlook
The team will likely be very cautious with the veteran, since their priority is to have him for the stretch run. Most reports have him most likely getting one more week to recover before returning to action in Week 12 against the Rams. For at least his first game back, he could be on a pitch count, but the fact that he drew 10 targets in his only full game of the season shows that the team and Baker Mayfield still trust him to be a big part of their offense.
He will probably need some time to ramp up, but especially while Evans is out, he could be a big help.
Rookies Emeka Egbuka and Tez Johnson have been very productive, but having a veteran option with such a strong rapport with Mayfield will boost the offense even more. Godwin has the potential to be a solid WR3 with WR2 upside by the end of the season, so stash him if you have the roster space at this point.
His return will likely push Johnson to a more "boom-or-bust" role and could also take targets away from Egbuka. If Evans is also back by the end of the season, as expected, the receiver room could be very crowded for the Bucs, hurting fantasy value, but giving the offense lots of potential playmakers to rely on.
