EPL DFS Goalies

Lucas Chevalier - DK $4.2K || FD $9

Opponent -  at FC Barcelona

Once again, the matchups are rather tricky and even the ‘value’ plays at the goalkeeper position are at risk of not hitting, i.e, Vitězslav Jaroš of Ajax AFC yesterday. FC Barcelona is thriving in the La Liga to start the season, and it helps having Raphinha and Marcus Rashford on either wing of the attack. Luckily, for PSG and Lucas Chevalier, Raphinha is out for a few weeks and will not feature in this matchup.

In Ligue One, PSG remains dominant and is the second-best at limiting Goals and Shots. Meanwhile, in La Liga, Barcelona is first in Goals, Shots, and Chances Created. Chevalier has proven himself time and time again, why he is the future goalie for France’s National Team. Can he backstop Les Parisiens to a difficult road win? Due to the projected pace of the match, Chevalier is expected to maintain value.

Others To Consider (CASH/GPP):

  • Gianluigi Donnarumma (DK $5.8K || FD $13) at AS Monaco
  • João Virginia (DK $3.9K || FD $8) at Napoli SSC

EPL DFS Forwards

Marcus Rashford - DK $8.4K || FD $18

Opponent - vs. Paris Saint-Germain

Flipping to the other side of the pitch, we have Marcus Rashford. As mentioned above, Raphinha is out for a few weeks with a thigh injury, leaving all set piece duties to Rashford. This instantly shoots the young striker’s value to the moon. His salary is a bit higher, especially for a not-so-optimal fixture; however, due to the sheer volume of peripherals, he is expected to maintain value moving forward.

It is not the intention to feature a goalie and a striker from opposite teams in an article, only to provide the reader with options for value. Can both players have big performances and help someone win big? Sure. Does that happen often? No. In Rashford’s most recent five fixtures in all competitions–four starts–he has produced two goals, three assists, 20 shots, nine chances created, 19 crosses, 16 corners, one tackle, one interception, and four clearances.

Others To Consider (CASH/GPP):

  • Bukayo Saka (DK $10.5K || FD $23) vs. Olympiakos CFP
  • Erling Haaland (DK $10.4K || FD $23) at AS Monaco

EPL DFS Midfielders

Giorgi Kochorashvili - DK $4.2K || FD $12

Opponent -  at Napoli SSC

With the possible ‘threat’ of having to pay up at not only forward, but also defense in ‘CASH’ contests, there is no other option left but to pay down at midfield. Luckily, Giorgi Kochorashvili is playing today. The under-salaried midfielder is the new heartbeat of Sporting CP. He has taken over all set pieces, instantly providing a floor at an affordable cost. In his seven matches for Sporting CP this season in all competitions, he has three shots, eight chances created, seven crosses, nine corners, six tackles, and one block.

Napoli SSC is not going to be an ‘easy’ matchup, considering they are in the top ten of the Serie A in preventing both Shots and Chances Created. Surprisingly, they are in the middle of the league in Goals Against. Nevertheless, for a value midfielder with set pieces, Kochorashvili checks off all of the boxes.

Others To Consider (CASH/GPP):

  • Kevin De Bruyne (DK $7.5K || FD $19) vs. Sporting CP
  • Mikel Jauregizar (DK $3.8K || FD $11) at Borrusia Dortmund

EPL DFS Defenders

Defenders

Caio Henrique - DK $4K || FD $9

Opponent - vs. Manchester City FC

Managers are being left with an uneasy feeling heading into today’s slate at defense. Either pay up at both positions or pay down. In ‘CASH’ contests, there may not be an option to pay down, though. Over Caio Henrique’s last five fixtures in all competitions–three starts–he has accumulated one shot, for chances created, 21 crosses, nine corners, four tackles, one interception, 10 clearances, and one block. After briefly losing set piece duties, he has regained the coveted role for AS Monaco.

How often will he take set pieces against Manchester City is the question to ask. The English Premier League giants have shown a few leaks in their defense lately, and it could benefit Henrique in his new role as a left wingback playing in a 3-4-3 formation. Not only will he provide value on set pieces, but he now has natural open-play value due to the formation AS Monaco uses. Against a high-octane offense with set piece value, Henrique is projected to produce on both ends of the pitch, reaching value at a minimum.

Others To Consider (CASH/GPP):

  • Alejandro Grimaldo (DK $8.1K || FD $16) vs. PSV Eindhoven
  • Yan Couto (DK $5.5K || FD $13) vs. Athletic Club

Corner Takers

  • Arsenal FC: Bukayo Saka/Martin Odegaard
  • Olympiakos CFP: Rodinei/Chiquinho
  • AS Monaco: Caio Henrique/Maghnes Akliouche
  • Manchester City FC: Phil Foden
  • Bayern Leverkusen: Alejandro Grimaldo
  • PSV Eindhoven: Ivan Perišić/Joey Veerman
  • Borussia Dortmund: Yan Couto/Daniel Svensson
  • Athletic Club: Mikel Jaregizar
  • FC Barcelona: Marcus Rashford
  • Paris Saint-Germain: Kang-In Lee/Nuno Mendes
  • Napoli SSC: Kevin De Bruyne/Matteo Politano
  • Sporting CP: Giorgi Kochorashvili
  • Villarreal CF: Nicolas Pépé/Manor Solomon
  • Juventus FC: Teun Koopmeiners/Kenan Yildiz

Thanks for reading The Kick-Off. Good luck in all of your contests today!
