Quarterback (QB) Fantasy Football Start 'Em, Sit 'Em Picks for Week 14 (2025)

Dak Prescott - Fantasy Football Rankings, NFL Injury News, DFS Lineup Picks

Matt's quarterback (QB) fantasy football start 'em, sit 'em picks for Week 14 of 2025. His QB lineups advice for Week 14 fantasy football start/sit decisions.

If you are still here, checking out this weekly column, then there is a good chance you still have a shot at making it into the fantasy playoffs. If you can manage to get in, then you have a puncher's chance of winning the whole dang thing.

To give yourself the highest probability of fantasy glory, managers may need to find viable options this week, as Drake Maye, Jaxson Dart, Brock Purdy, and yes, even Bryce Young are unavailable due to their teams' untimely Week 14 bye.

With that in mind, it's time to look at RotoBaller's Week 14 starts and sits for the quarterback position.

Week 14 - Potential Fantasy Football Booms

Dak Prescott - QB, Dallas Cowboys at Detroit Lions

Since Week 4, Prescott has been the QB4 in fantasy, averaging 22.6 fantasy points per game, and has topped 21.5 fantasy points in seven of his last nine contests. Prescott's seven such performances are more than Patrick Mahomes, Dart, and Josh Allen, who have all averaged more fantasy points per game over that period.

The Cowboys' all-time passing yards leader has eight QB1 finishes thus far this season, including finishes inside the top 10 in three straight games after throwing for 320 yards on Thanksgiving against an excellent Kansas City Chiefs defense. Throw the Eagles in the week before, and Prescott has completed 66.6% of his passes for 674 yards and totaled five touchdowns over the last two weeks against formidable defenses.

As for this week's opponent, the Detroit Lions aren't in the same tier when it comes to their pass defense or their ability to defend opposing quarterbacks in fantasy. On the season, the 19.56 fantasy points per game the Lions surrender to the position is the fourth most, while the 21.10 over the previous four weeks is the fifth most.

With the recent four-game sample closely resembling the seasonal output, it is reasonable to project Prescott for another 20-point performance this week.

Tyrod Taylor - QB, New York Jets vs. Miami Dolphins

While Taylor has been modest in terms of fantasy production with his opportunities this season, the Jets quarterback is coming off a 21.3 fantasy point performance against the Atlanta Falcons in which he threw for 172 yards and a touchdown and ran for 44 yards and a touchdown, finishing as a top-10 fantasy quarterback for Week 13.

In each of Taylor's previous contests, he has dropped back to pass an average of 30.5 times. Against the Miami Dolphins, that kind of volume can lead to production. Last week, Miami allowed a struggling passing offense in New Orleans to be fantasy relevant, boasting 18.9 fantasy points on 38 passing attempts. Add in Taylor's rushing upside, and this becomes much more than a hunch play this week.

On the season, Miami is allowing 18.98 fantasy points per game to the quarterback position, the seventh most. Over the last four weeks, that number has increased to 20.24 fantasy points, making it one of the more favorable matchups in fantasy for Week 14.

Also working in Taylor's favor is the fact that Miami's four interceptions this season are the third fewest, meaning that Taylor is one of a handful of quarterbacks likely to avoid negative plays available on your roster.

Tyler Shough - QB, New Orleans Saints at Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Speaking of the Saints' passing attack that surpassed expectations last week, Shough deserves some credit after completing 26-of-38 passes for 239 yards and a pair of touchdowns.

If not for a pair of turnovers, Shough's performance could have landed him inside the top five for the week. However, finishing with 18.4 fantasy points and a second QB1 week in two of the last three contests will have to suffice.

In Week 10 against the Carolina Panthers, Shough dropped 19 fantasy points for fantasy managers brave enough to start him. While the numbers don't resemble those of a Maye or Matthew Stafford, Shough has been arguably more dependable than Lamar Jackson over the last three games.

In Shough's previous three outings, the Saints signal-caller has thrown four touchdown passes while completing 69.4% of his attempts, averaging 254.7 yards per contest.

Look for Shough to continue producing under the radar once again this week. Tampa Bay is currently allowing 19.38 fantasy points per game, the fifth most.

However, over the last four weeks, no team has been in a more giving mood than the Buccaneers. They are allowing an unprecedented 27.90 fantasy points per game to QBs and surrendering 330.3 passing yards per game over their previous three contests, which also featured eight passing touchdowns.

Week 14 - Potential Fantasy Football Busts

Caleb Williams - QB, Chicago Bears at Green Bay Packers

First, let's give credit where credit is due. Entering Week 14, Williams is the QB10 in fantasy, dropping 18.9 fantasy points per game. But since Week 9, we've seen Williams level up as he continues to grasp Ben Johnson's offensive playbook. Over the last five contests, Williams has been a little hit or miss, but when he's on, he's been on.

In three of those five contests, Williams would go on to finish with 21.5 more fantasy points, including a monstrous Week 9 performance that led to 36.7 points. In the other two, Williams has been held under 11 fantasy points. When you average the good with the bad, you get QB3 with a five-game average of 20.8 fantasy points.

While this is the Bears' first meeting this season with the Packers, last season, Williams averaged 189.5 passing yards per game against this Packers defense. Sure, things have changed offensively for the Bears, but Green Bay has also done some things on defense. It added Micah Parsons, who became the first player in NFL history to record 12 or more sacks in each of his first five seasons.

Green Bay has made life difficult for opposing quarterbacks this season, allowing 13.97 fantasy points per game (sixth-fewest), 186.5 passing yards per game (sixth-fewest), and registering 32 sacks ( 10th most). Over the last four weeks, no team has allowed fewer than 6.63 fantasy points per game, which the Packers have allowed.

Cam Ward - QB, Tennessee Titans at Cleveland Browns

Let's do football math, shall we? What happens to a rookie quarterback who has been sacked a league-high 48 times in 12 games (four times per game), including being sacked on three or more occasions in seven straight contests, and faces a team with 43 sacks (second most) and an edge-rusher who has 15 sacks over his last six games?

I'm not 100% sure what the answer is, but I do picture Myles Garrett delivering his best Ivan Drago pregame speech if asked this question, with a similar response: "I must break you."

Cleveland has been one of the best teams in the NFL this season against the quarterback position, allowing 13.39 fantasy points per game (fourth-fewest) and 169.9 passing yards per game (third-fewest). In the last four weeks, Cleveland has allowed just 8.63 fantasy points per game, whereas Ward averages a modest 195.9 passing yards per game and has just seven passing touchdowns in 12 contests.

Considering the matchup and the fact that Ward is QB42 on a points per game basis (10.2) this season, he shouldn't even be in consideration as an option in two-quarterback or superflex leagues.

Jalen Hurts - QB, Philadelphia Eagles at Los Angeles Chargers

While Hurts has been a top-5 fantasy option at the quarterback position, in recent weeks, he has been anything but a sure thing. Entering Week 14, Hurts resides as the QB4 in fantasy, averaging 20.8 fantasy points per game. However, since Week 9, Hurts is the QB8, averaging 18.8 fantasy points per game.

So, where's the problem? Hurts' production over his previous four contests has been propped up on his Week 12 numbers, where he scored 30.9 fantasy points. In each of the other three games in that period, Hurts has failed to top 18 fantasy points and was held to fewer than 15 fantasy points twice.

Hurts is always going to be a "tush push" away from having a salvageable week, but 210 yards passing per game over that period and the Eagles' 196.2 passing yards per game on the season really does cap Hurts' floor.

This week's matchup against the Chargers doesn't do Hurts any favors if the Eagles are hoping to move the ball through the air. Los Angeles is allowing the second-fewest passing yards per game (168.3) and has been a top-3 defense this season, allowing just 275.3 yards of total offense per game.

The 11 interceptions and 34 sacks the Chargers have accumulated this season rank eighth and sixth, respectively.
