Zach Dezenzo Dealing With Hand Sprain, Will be Evaluated in Two Weeks
Zach Dezenzo's left hand showed that he has a left-hand capsule sprain. Dezenzo has been prescribed for rest and is scheduled to be evaluated again in two weeks after landing on the 10-day injured list on Sunday. The 25-year-old suffered the injury in Saturday's game against the Tampa Bay Rays. If he gets good news in a couple weeks, it's possible that Dezenzo could be back in the big leagues before the end of the month. With designated hitter Yordan Alvarez (hand) still on the IL himself with a hand injury, the Astros recently called up outfield prospect Jacob Melton to pick up additional playing time for the team. Before his injury, Dezenzo was serving as a utility player for Houston and was hitting a modest .245 (24-for-98) with two homers, 10 RBI, 17 runs and a steal in limited playing time.
