Tommy Pham To Return To Outfield Duties In Game 3
1 year agoArizona Diamondbacks outfielder Tommy Pham (toe), who has been dealing with turf toe, will start in the outfield for the first time this postseason in Game 3 of the National League Championship Series on Thursday against the Philadelphia Phillies and left-hander Ranger Suarez, according to manager Torey Lovullo. Pham has been serving as Arizona's designated hitter since the end of the regular season, but he'll return to the outfield as the Snakes look to prevent the Phils from taking a three games to none lead in the best-of-seven series. The 35-year-old has gone 0-for-8 with three strikeouts in the first two games of the NLCS, but he's 7-for-22 (.318) with six runs scored in five playoff games this year. Pham is 0-for-2 in his career against Suarez with two walks and a strikeout.
