Quinnen Williams Leaves Practice with Calf Injury
Source: The Athletic - Zack Rosenblatt
New York Jets defensive tackle Quinnen Williams (calf) "tweaked" his left calf during individual drills at the start of the team's Thursday practice, according to Zack Rosenblatt of The Athletic. Williams did not return during team sessions, but Jets head coach Aaron Glenn did not provide an update on his status. Any missed time for Williams would be a major issue for New York's defense. The 27-year-old was named first-team All-Pro in 2022, and he's recorded 39 sacks and 98 QB hits in his six-year NFL career. Williams has played in at least 16 games in each of the past three seasons, so durability isn't typically an issue for him. If he were to miss time, veterans Jay Tufele and Byron Cowart would likely be in line for increased reps.Yandy Diaz Exits After Hit by Pitch Against Yankees

Juwan Johnson Returns to Practice in Limited Capacity
Juwan Johnson (groin) attended the team's Friday practice and did some individual work, but did not participate in team drills, according to ESPN's Katherine Terrell. Johnson left the team's practice on Wednesday due to a groin injury. It's a good sign for both him and the team that he's back on the field so quickly, even if he's not yet at full strength. In 17 games for New Orleans last season Johnson recorded 50 catches for 548 yards and three touchdowns. He's emerged as the Saints' top receiving tight end over the past few seasons, and he could be in for an increased workload in 2025 with fellow tight ends Taysom Hill (knee) and Foster Moreau (knee) both currently sidelined due to knee injuries. That being said, Johnson's fantasy value is limited by New Orleans' underwhelming quarterback situation.Source: ESPN - Katherine Terrell
New Orleans Saints tight end Dawson Knox Returns to Bills Practice
Dawson Knox (hamstring) returned to the practice field on Thursday. Knox landed on the active/non-football injury list to begin training camp with a hamstring injury but was activated by the team on Sunday. In 16 games last season, Knox caught 22 passes for 311 yards and one touchdown. The 28-year-old is a key piece for a Buffalo offense that likes to feature multiple-tight end formations, but Knox is clearly behind fellow tight end Dalton Kincaid as a receiver. Unless there's an injury to Kincaid, Knox is unlikely to factor in fantasy during the 2025 season.Source: Buffalo Bills
Buffalo Bills tight end Chandler Simpson Leaves Early With Injury on Thursday
Chandler Simpson (hand) left Thursday's game early against the division-rival New York Yankees in the Bronx with an apparent left-hand injury, according to Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times. Simpson departed the game from left field after manager Kevin Cash and trainer Aaron Scott went to check on him. He went 0-for-2 in the game from the leadoff spot with a strikeout before being replaced in left field by Jake Mangum. Expect the 24-year-old speedster to get tests on his hand to determine the severity of the injury. Chandler has only played in 64 games in his first season in the MLB in 2025, but he's made an immediate impact with a .300 average (68-for-227) and 32 stolen bases. He lacks in power but makes up for it with his wheels on the basepaths. Until we know more, fantasy managers should consider Simpson day-to-day.Source: Tampa Bay Times - Marc Topkin
Tampa Bay Ray rookie outfielder Dontayvion Wicks, Savion Williams Return to Packers Practice
Dontayvion Wicks (calf) and Savion Williams (concussion) were both seen back at practice on Friday, according to Matt Schneidman of The Athletic. Wicks left practice on Monday with a calf injury, while Williams has been battling a concussion for about a week. Both players are competing for reps in a crowded Green Bay receiver room that also includes Romeo Doubs, Matthew Golden, and Jayden Reed. Wicks played 17 games for the Packers last season, hauling in 39 catches for 415 yards and 415 yards. Williams is a third-round rookie out of TCU who recorded 60 catches for 611 yards and six touchdowns in his final collegiate season. Both players need all the practice time they can get to prove themselves worthy of playing time, so it's a good sign that they're back on the field.Source: The Athletic - Matt Schneidman
Green Bay Packers wide receivers Yankees Discussing Sandy Alcantara, Edward Cabrera
Sandy Alcantara and Edward Cabrera, sources tell MLB Network's Jon Morosi. The Marlins have asked for outfielder Spencer Jones, who is currently sporting a 1.115 OPS at Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, but a couple different concepts have been discussed. Jones is New York's No. 4 prospect, per MLB Pipeline, and has some of the most high-end power upside that the minors have to offer. However, the Yankees are still looking for help for their starting rotation despite the impending return of right-hander Luis Gil (lat) this weekend. Clarke Schmidt and Gerrit Cole are done for the season with injuries. Alcantara is the more attractive upside piece long term, but the 29-year-old Dominican has been inconsistent in 2025 with a 6.36 ERA and 1.42 WHIP in his first season back from Tommy John surgery.Source: MLB Network - Jon Morosi
The New York Yankees have had dialogue with the Miami Marlins about both right-handers MarShawn Lloyd Unlikely to Practice This Week
MarShawn Lloyd (groin) is not expected to practice this week, according to Packers head coach Matt LaFleur. LaFleur also said that the team doesn't anticipate a long-term absence for Lloyd, who suffered a groin injury during practice on Monday. Drafted out of USC in the third round in 2024, injuries have plagued Lloyd for the first year-plus of his NFL career. He played in just one game as a rookie due to hip, hamstring, ankle, and appendix issues. Lloyd is competing in camp with Emanuel Wilson and Chris Brooks for the backup job behind Packers RB1 Josh Jacobs. After missing so much time in 2024, the last thing Lloyd needs is another injury to set him back.Source: Packers.com - Weston Hodkiewicz

Running Back Roles "Starting to be Defined" in Jacksonville
Tank Bigsby and Travis Etienne, according to John Shipley of Sports Illustrated. Shipley writes that Bigsby has been the team's "most impressive downhill rusher," while Etienne has been "far and away the Jaguars' best and most-used running back in the passing game." This split isn't surprising based on how each player performed in 2024. Bigsby averaged 4.6 yards per rush attempt compared to 3.7 yards/attempt for Etienne, but Etienne tallied 200 more yards as a receiver. Bigsby could be in line for early-down work in Jacksonville this season, while Etienne is the favorite for passing-down work. Bigsby is currently being drafted significantly later than Etienne, which might be a mistake if the workload between the two is split as evenly as it appears it will be.Source: Sports Illustrated - John Shipley
It's becoming "more and more clear" how the Jaguars are using running backs Mark Leiter Jr. Could Return Next Week
Mark Leiter Jr. (leg) could come off the 15-day injured list when the team is in Texas for a series against the Rangers from Monday, Aug. 4, through Wednesday, Aug. 6. Leiter threw a live batting practice session on Thursday. The 34-year-old has been sidelined since early July with a left fibula stress fracture, but despite all the missed time, he could return to the team's bullpen early next week. When Leiter does return, he'll be coming back to a 4.46 ERA (2.77 FIP) and 1.57 WHIP with 46 strikeouts and 12 walks in 34 1/3 relief innings over 41 appearances out of the bullpen in the Bronx. He's been a bit unlucky on the mound this year and has demonstrated solid command, but he won't really be on the fantasy radar down the stretch.Source: ESPN.com - Jorge Castillo
New York Yankees manager Aaron Boone said that right-hander Joey Wentz Finding Success With His Cutter
Joey Wentz has struggled this season with a 5.02 ERA, 1.44 WHIP, and 49 strikeouts in 52 innings pitched. However, since being acquired by the Atlanta Braves on July 11, he has adjusted the grip on his cutter, which he says has fueled his recent form, according to David O'Brien of The Athletic. The Braves desperately need the help, with Chris Sale (ribs), Spencer Schwellenbach (elbow), Grant Holmes (elbow), AJ Smith-Shawver (elbow), and Reynaldo Lopez (shoulder) all on the injured list. Wentz should continue to get opportunities down the stretch, as the Braves are quickly falling out of playoff contention as they are currently 14 games back in the NL Wild Card Race. At this moment, Wentz is not a recommended waiver wire pickup; however, in deeper leagues, he may be worth considering if he continues to pitch well.Source: The Athletic
Atlanta Braves left-handed pitcher Rachaad White Quicker and Lighter
Rachaad White said he's down to around 212 pounds at training camp and is lighter and quicker and is enjoying how it helps his conditioning and stamina, according to Greg Auman of FOX Sports. White's fantasy stock is down in 2025 -- he's ranked as RotoBaller's No. 41 back -- and will be hoping for primary pass-catching duties in Tampa's backfield behind Bucky Irving, who broke out in 2024. The 26-year-old former third-rounder (91st overall) in 2022 is the perfect handcuff to Irving this year, as he'd likely have a huge role for the Bucs if anything were to happen to Irving. Last year, White had 613 rushing yards and three touchdowns on 144 carries (career-best 4.3 yards per carry) while adding 51 catches for 393 yards and a career-high six receiving TDs. White profiles as an RB4/flex for fantasy managers in PPR leagues.Source: FOX Sports - Greg Auman
Tampa Bay Buccaneers running back Brock Stewart Gets Traded to the Dodgers
Brock Stewart from the Minnesota Twins, senior MLB insider Jeff Passan reports. The Minnesota Twins continue to be sellers at the deadline, as they trade right-handed reliever Stewart to the Dodgers. Stewart has had a nice season in 2025, with a 2.38 ERA, 1.09 WHIP, 14 holds, and 41 strikeouts in 34 innings pitched. The Dodgers need bullpen help badly, as they currently rank 23rd in MLB for team ERA, with a 4.27 ERA. In addition, Tanner Scott (elbow) landed on the injured list on July 22. From a fantasy perspective, Stewart is likely to remain a middle reliever and has value if your league rewards holds. However, he is unlikely to get many, if any, save opportunities.Source: Jeff Passan
The Los Angeles Dodgers are finalizing a deal to acquire right-handed reliever Hendry Mendez Traded to Minnesota
Hendry Mendez to the Minnesota Twins in a package to acquire outfielder Harrison Bader. Mendez was ranked as the No. 25 overall prospect in the system before the trade. Mendez has spent the entire 2025 campaign with Double-A Reading. Through his first 85 games at the Double-A level, Mendez has posted a strong .290/.374/.434 slash line with 13 doubles, three triples, eight home runs, and six stolen bases. Last summer, Mendez held a similar .284/.386/.391 line through 90 games at the High-A level. Fantasy managers should expect the 21-year-old to begin his time in Minnesota at the Double-A level, but he could push for a late-season promotion to Triple-A St. Paul.Source: Matt Gelb

Josh Randall Traded to Washington
Kyle Finnegan. Before the trade, Randall was considered the No. 16-ranked prospect in the Detroit system on MLB.com. The Tigers selected Randall in the third round of the 2024 MLB Draft out of the University of San Diego. He opened the 2025 regular season with Low-A Lakeland and logged 75 1/3 innings to the tune of a 4.18 ERA and a 1.34 WHIP. During this stretch, Randall struck out 64 hitters. He was then given the call to join High-A West Michigan and logged five innings of one-run ball (zero earned runs) before being shipped to D.C. Fantasy managers should expect Randall to spend the rest of the season at the High-A level.Source: Andrew Golden
The Washington Nationals have acquired right-handed pitching prospect Josh Randall from the Detroit Tigers in exchange for relief pitcher Latavius Murray Retires
Latavius Murray is retiring from the NFL, Jordan Schultz of FOX Sports reports. Murray was originally a sixth-round pick (181st overall) in the 2013 NFL draft out of Central Florida by the Oakland Raiders. The 35-year-old spent the first three years of his NFL career in Oakland before then joining the Minnesota Vikings and New Orleans Saints for two years each. Murray bounced around with the Baltimore Ravens, Saints, Denver Broncos and Buffalo Bills his last three seasons. He finishes his 10-year NFL career with 6,552 rushing yards and 59 touchdowns on 1,560 attempts while catching 239 passes for 1,620 yards and two more TDs in 151 regular-season games. Murray was a Pro Bowler once in 2015 with the Raiders, when he had 1,066 rushing yards and six touchdowns. He had 300 yards in 16 games with the Bills in his final season in 2023.Source: FOX Sports - Jordan Schultz

Ian Seymour, Joe Rock Promoted to Major Leagues
Ian Seymour and Joe Rock to the major leagues. Seymour made his MLB debut earlier this season and was quite effective during his first taste, posting a 1.69 ERA and a 1.03 WHIP through 10 2/3 innings. He has spent most of his time with Triple-A Durham and has flashed high strikeout upside, tallying 104 strikeouts across 86 innings of work. Rock has logged two innings in the major leagues this season and allowed two runs and four hits. Through 81 2/3 innings with the Durham Bulls, Rock posted a modest 4.63 ERA and a 1.44 WHIP. He tallied only 71 strikeouts and allowed 33 walks. With Zack Littell now in Cincinnati, Seymour could have an opportunity to start, while Rock will likely shift to the bullpen.Source: Tampa Bay Rays Communications
The Tampa Bay Rays promoted left-handed pitching prospects Rhamondre Stevenson Drops 10 Pounds
Rhamondre Stevenson dropped 10 pounds heading into the 2025 season in an effort to add the necessary speed to make big plays. "I'm trying to unlock breakaway speed," Stevenson said, and "having TreVeyon (Henderson) coming in here running a 4.3. Let me get my speed up." The 27-year-old had a career-best seven rushing touchdowns and ran for 801 yards on 207 carries in his fourth year in the NFL, but he also fumbled the ball seven times. The Pats' investment of RB TreVeyon Henderson in the second round of this year's draft has Stevenson's fantasy stock on the decline. Stevenson still has three-down abilities, but it's clear New England wants to mix in Henderson with him, which lowers Stevenson's fantasy ceiling more of a touchdown-dependent RB3/flex in fantasy. At the very least, he should see plenty of goal-line opportunities.Source: NFL Network - Mike Garofolo
New England Patriots running back Eduarniel Nunez Shipped to Athletics in Blockbuster
Eduarniel Nunez, Braden Nett, Henry Baez, and top prospect Leodalis De Vries to the Athletics in exchange for right-handed pitcher Mason Miller and left-hander JP Sears. Nunez made his MLB debut earlier this season and held a 3.86 ERA across a brief 4 2/3-inning stint. During this stretch, Nunez struck out just two hitters. He has spent most of his season split between Double-A and Triple-A. Through 35 total innings of relief in the top levels of the minor leagues, Nunez posted an impressive 2.31 ERA with a strong 1.03 WHIP. During this stretch, he struck out an impressive 56 hitters while allowing just 17 walks. Given his impressive production in the minor leagues, Nunez could have a role in the Athletics' bullpen during the final weeks of the season.Source: Jeff Passan
The San Diego Padres have traded right-handed pitcher Kyle Finnegan Traded to the Tigers
Kyle Finnegan to the Detroit Tigers on Thursday. Finnegan will now join the first-place Tigers as they look to make a push to win a division title and make a deep run in the playoffs. It's been an up-and-down season for Finnegan, as he has 20 saves out of 26 save opportunities this season. He was ranked sixth in the National League in saves. However, he owns a 4.38 ERA to go with a 1.28 WHIP. In his career, Finnegan has 108 saves. Finnegan figures to be the seventh- or eighth-inning guy for the Tigers, which decreases his value. Will Vest appears to have a good hold on the closer role, and Tommy Kahnle and Tyler Holton have been solid as middle relievers while also getting a few saves from time to time.Source: Jon Morosi
The Washington Nationals traded 33-year-old right-hander Tetairoa McMillan has Been "Better Than Advertised"
Tetairoa McMillan have "been glowing," a Panthers source told FOX Sports' Jordan Schultz. "He's been even better than advertised -- smooth, explosive, and already gaining trust from the QBs. You can't take your eyes off him at practice because he's making so many big plays." McMillan dealt with a minor leg injury in minicamp but is full-go now and is looking great after the Panthers took him eighth overall in April's NFL draft. The 22-year-old will be the team's X receiver right away as he looks to become one of quarterback Bryce Young's favorite target right away. McMillan will be competing for targets with Xavier Legette and veteran Adam Thielen. If Young takes another step forward in Year 3, McMillan could be a bargain with WR2 upside in the middle rounds of fantasy drafts.Source: FOX Sports - Jordan Schultz
The early returns on Carolina Panthers rookie first-round wide receiver Henry Baez Traded to Athletics
Henry Baez alongside Leodalis De Vries, Braden Nett, and Eduarniel Nunez in exchange for right-handed pitcher Mason Miller and left-handed pitcher JP Sears. Baez was ranked as the No. 12 overall prospect in the San Diego system on MLB Pipeline before the trade. This season, the 22-year-old right-hander has spent the entire campaign pitching for Double-A San Antonio. Through 96 2/3 innings with San Antonio, Baez has posted a stellar 1.96 ERA with a 1.00 WHIP. He has struck out 89 hitters and allowed just 31 free passes. Last season, Baez held a much higher 3.06 ERA at Double-A. Given his steady production at Double-A this season, he could be in the mix to make his Triple-A debut in Las Vegas during the second half.Source: Jeff Passan
The San Diego Padres traded right-handed pitching prospect Khal Stephen Traded to Cleveland
Shane Bieber (elbow). Before the trade, Stephen was considered the No. 9-ranked prospect in the Toronto system on MLB.com. The Blue Jays drafted Stephen with the 59th overall pick in last year's MLB Draft out of Mississippi State. He made his professional debut earlier this season with Low-A Dunedin. Through 39 1/3 innings, Stephen held a strong 2.06 ERA with a 0.92 WHIP. He then moved up to High-A, where he posted an elite 1.49 ERA with a 0.85 WHIP across 48 1/3 innings of work. He was given the call to join Double-A, where he has logged four innings of four-run ball. Fantasy managers should expect Stephen to report to Double-A in the Cleveland system. Given his progression, he should be in the mix to debut in 2026.Source: Jon Morosi
