Buffalo Sabres goaltender Devon Levi has inked a new two-year, $1.625 million contract with the club. The young netminder was Buffalo's last restricted free agent. Levi is a highly-regarded goalie prospect, but he had a tough time in the NHL last season. In nine outings, Levi compiled a 2-7-0 record, allowing over four goals per game (4.12) with a lowly .872 save percentage. He didn't see any action in the big league after January. Levi's play in the AHL was much better, as the 23-year-old posted a 25-13-4 record, a 2.20 goals-against average, and a .919 save percentage with the Rochester Americans. Next season, Levi will battle with Alex Lyon for the backup position behind Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen.--Taavi PailkSource: NHL.com

The Texas Rangers are swinging a trade with the Arizona Diamondbacks for right-hander Merrill Kelly, according to Jeff Passan of ESPN. Left-hander Kohl Drake and righty David Hagaman are among the players going to Arizona, per Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic. The Rangers are getting one of the best starters on the market in Kelly, who is putting together yet another strong season in his age-36 campaign. Kelly has made 22 starts and gone 9-6 with a stingy 3.22 ERA, a 1.06 WHIP, and 121 strikeouts against 38 walks in 128 2/3 innings. Kelly will improve the top of the Rangers' rotation behind Jacob deGrom and Nathan Eovaldi, but it's not known who will fall out of the starting five as a result of his acquisition. The team could bump Kumar Rocker out, which would leave Jack Leiter and Patrick Corbin behind the deGrom-Eovaldi-Kelly trio.--Connor ByrneSource: Jeff Passan

Calgary Flames forward Martin Pospisil has signed a three-year, $7.5 million contract extension that will start with the 2026-27 season. Pospisil could have become a restricted free agent after the upcoming campaign. Calgary picked Pospisil in the fourth round of the 2018 NHL Entry Draft, and he has been a regular on the team for the past two seasons. In 2024-25, Pospisil scored 25 points (four goals, 21 assists) in 81 games and tied New York Rangers forward Will Cuylle for the third-most hits in the league with 301. Pospisil's physicality certainly makes him valuable in some fantasy leagues, but he isn't a must-have player.--Taavi PailkSource: NHL.com

New York Jets running back Braelon Allen (knee) missed his second straight day of training camp practice on Thursday with knee soreness, according to the Jets' official site. There's no indication that Allen's knee issue is serious, but it has allowed Isaiah Davis to get some more reps in the backfield the last two days. The 21-year-old Allen is "bigger, faster and stronger" in camp this summer as he looks to carve out a bigger role next to lead back Breece Hall. Allen had been a standout in practices before sitting out a couple days this week, and his potential increased involvement in the Jets' backfield in 2025 is a big reason why some folks are naming Hall as a potential RB bust. Right now he's ranked as the RB51 in fantasy, don't rule out the Wisconsin product having a role as both a pass-catcher and short-yardage/goal-line back.--Keith HernandezSource: NewYorkJets.com - Susanna Weir and Eric Allen

The Texas Rangers have acquired left-handed reliever Danny Coulombe from the Minnesota Twins for lefty Garrett Horn. Coulombe has pitched to an effective 3.28 ERA over 304 2/3 career innings, but he has taken it to another level this year. Across 31 innings in 2025, the 35-year-old has put up a microscopic 1.16 ERA with a 0.97 WHIP, 31:9 K:BB, eight holds, and two saves. Coulombe could occasionally pick up some saves in Texas, which has used multiple relievers to close out games this year. Robert Garcia leads the team with just nine saves.--Connor ByrneSource: Minnesota Twins

The Minnesota Twins announced that they have acquired outfielder James Outman from the Los Angeles Dodgers for right-hander Brock Stewart. Outman seemingly had a breakout season in 2023 with a .248/.353/.437 line and 23 homers, 70 RBI, 86 runs scored, and 16 stolen bases over 567 plate appearances. However, Outman's stock has fallen dramatically since then. He has appeared in 75 games over the past season and a half, including 22 this year, and hit a disastrous .137/.245/.269 with six homers and 15 RBI in 200 trips to the plate. While the 28-year-old has spent most of the season at the Triple-A level, he could get an opportunity in Minnesota with Harrison Bader going to Philadelphia and Byron Buxton (rib) on the 10-day injured list.--Connor ByrneSource: Minnesota Twins

Dallas Cowboys running back Miles Sanders (knee) did not practice on Thursday at training camp due to a slight bruise to his left knee, according to Todd Archer of ESPN. Sanders was seen wearing a compression sleeve on his knee on Thursday. It shouldn't be an injury that keeps the 28-year-old out for long, but it's notable as he competes for a role in Dallas' backfield this year alongside Javonte Williams and rookie Jaydon Blue. For what it's worth, Sanders has been a standout early in camp, but Blue has been even more impressive. Sanders has the ability to succeed as a ball-carrier and pass-catcher, but he tanked in his two seasons with the Carolina Panthers in 2023 and 2024 and will have lots of competition for backfield touches in his first year with Dallas. Of the three RBs in Dallas, Sanders might be the least appealing from a fantasy perspective.--Keith HernandezSource: ESPN Dallas - Todd Archer

The Miami Marlins have acquired right-hander Ryan Gusto from the Houston Astros for outfielder Jesus Sanchez, Mark Feinsand of MLB.com reports. Gusto, an 11th-round pick in 2019, reached the majors for the first time this year and ate up a significant number of innings for the Astros before the trade. The 26-year-old has racked up 86 frames over 24 appearances (14 starts) and gone 7-4 with a 4.92 ERA, a 1.43 WHIP, and 87:28 K:BB. He's a candidate to join the Marlins' rotation, but that could depend on whether they trade any of their current starters before the deadline.--Connor ByrneSource: Mark Feinsand

Dallas Cowboys head coach Brian Schottenheimer had more good things to say about rookie running back Jaydon Blue at training camp on Thursday. "He's electric when he gets the ball," Schottenheimer said. Blue, a fifth-round selection this April, has quickly distanced himself from a report before training camp suggesting the 21-year-old RB was "borderline lazy." Since then, he's done nothing but impress with "good burn" and elite speed and pass-catching ability as he competes for playing time in 2025. He's also seen work with the first-team offense and didn't disappoint. Javonte Williams and Miles Sanders came into camp as the favorites for most of the early-season touches, but Dallas may be re-evaluating that right now. Blue's fantasy stock is most definitely on the rise and he should be a popular late-round dart throw at RB.--Keith HernandezSource: Dallas Cowboys

New York Giants rookie running back Cam Skattebo (undisclosed) did not take part in Thursday's training camp practice with an undisclosed injury, according to The Athletic's Dan Duggan. Duggan added that the injury is "likely minor." It's probably nothing to be overly concerned about unless Skattebo doesn't get back on the field soon. The 23-year-old is slow for an NFL running back but has impressed as a pass-catcher early in camp this summer. Skattebo is not going to have a huge role in his first season in the NFL as long as Tyrone Tracy Jr. misses time with an injury, but he could have a role on pass-catching downs in 2025. The fourth-rounder out of Arizona State makes up for his lack of speed with power and short-area explosiveness. Fantasy managers should target him as more of an RB3/flex in PPR leagues, but if Tracy were to miss time, Skattebo would be an extremely valuable asset.--Keith HernandezSource: The Athletic - Dan Duggan

The San Diego Padres are finalizing a deal to acquire first baseman Ryan O'Hearn and outfielder Ramon Laureano from the Baltimore Orioles on Thursday, sources tell Jeff Passan of ESPN. It's unclear what the Padres sent back to the O's at the deadline. The 32-year-old O'Hearn will be a defensive upgrade over Luis Arraez at first base and could also be utilized in the DH spot in San Diego. He mostly only plays against right-handed pitchers, but the first-time All-Star will certainly be an offensive upgrade for the Padres as they seek to get into the postseason this fall. O'Hearn has had a career year, slashing .283/.374/.463 with an .837 OPS, 13 homers, 43 RBI and 45 runs scored in 94 games. He also has a .294 xBA, which supports his 2025 breakout in his eighth year in the league. If anything, the move to SD might be a slight fantasy downgrade for O'Hearn.--Keith HernandezSource: ESPN.com - Jeff Passan

The Houston Astros are acquiring outfielder Jesus Sanchez from the Miami Marlins on Thursday in exchange for right-hander Ryan Gusto, sources tell MLB.com's Mark Feinsand. The Astros get the left-handed bat they had been searching for at the deadline with All-Star outfielder Yordan Alvarez (hand) having missed most of the 2025 season. The 27-year-old Sanchez will take his .256/.320/.420 slash line with 10 home runs, 36 RBI, 40 runs and nine stolen bases to Houston for the final two months of the season. The Dominican outfielder will still probably be involved in the strong side of a platoon against righties with the Astros and he'll be joining a much better lineup, but he also figures to hit lower in the batting order with the move. Sanchez has lowered his strikeout rate and raised his walk rate but has hit .130 (7-for-54) with one of his 10 homers against lefties.--Keith HernandezSource: MLB.com - Mark Feinsand

The Detroit Tigers acquired right-hander Codi Heuer from the Texas Rangers on Thursday in exchange for cash considerations. It's a minor deal near the deadline this year that won't move the needle at all in fantasy. The 29-year-old Heuer was originally a sixth-round selection by the Chicago White Sox in 2018 out of Wichita State. He has two previous years of MLB experience with the White Sox and Chicago Cubs, and he appeared in one game out of Texas' bullpen this year, allowing an earned run on a solo homer while striking out one. Heuer was sent down to Triple-A Round Rock in early June and posted a 3.63 ERA and 1.27 WHIP with 28 strikeouts and only four walks in 17 1/3 innings. He will give the first-place Tigers some bullpen depth but will start his tenure with the team at Triple-A Toledo.--Keith HernandezSource: Texas Rangers PR

Chicago Cubs right-hander Jameson Taillon (calf) faced hitters in a 40-pitch live batting practice workout on Tuesday and is scheduled to begin a minor-league rehab assignment with Triple-A Iowa on Saturday, Aug. 2, according to manager Craig Counsell. It's possible that Taillon will only need a start or two in the minors before rejoining the big-league starting rotation around the middle of August. When Taillon went on the 15-day injured list, Counsell said the veteran hurler would miss around a month. The 33-year-old veteran relies on inducing weak contact to succeed and has really seen his velocity fall in recent seasons, making him more of a liability in fantasy. Before his calf injury, Taillon had produced a 7-6 record, 4.44 ERA, 1.11 WHIP, 74 strikeouts and 20 walks in 95 1/3 innings over his 17 starts. At best, he's a matchup-based streamer at this point of his career.--Keith HernandezSource: MLB.com

Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. (knee) is not practicing on Thursday due to knee soreness, according to head coach Jonathan Gannon. The injury is not viewed as serious, and Harrison is day-to-day. While key players missing practice time is never ideal, this sounds like a non-issue for the Ohio State product's fantasy football outlook. Last season, expectations were sky high for the son of a Hall of Fame wide receiver, so his 62-catch, 885-yard, eight-touchdown season was viewed as a letdown by many. However, the 22-year-old has reportedly bulked up this offseason, and he'll have another year of chemistry with quarterback Kyler Murray in 2025. Harrison Jr. carries a mid-range WR2 price tag into preseason drafts, but there is a real possibility he's locked behind tight end Trey McBride as the No. 2 option in the passing game.--Jackson Sparks - RotoBallerSource: Darren Urban

The New York Mets are acquiring outfielder Cedric Mullins from the Baltimore Orioles, according to Anthony DiComo of MLB.com. In return, the Orioles will receive minor-league right-handers Raimon Gomez, Anthony Nunez, and Chandler Marsh. The Mets were known to be in the market for an established center fielder leading up to the deadline, and they're getting one in Mullins. The 30-year-old has started 88 games at the position this season and hit .229/.305/.433 with 15 homers, 49 RBI, 42 runs scored, and 14 stolen bases in 355 plate appearances. Mullins struggled through May and June, but he got back on track this month. He ended July .290/.346/.522 with three HRs, 10 RBI, nine runs, and six steals in 22 games.--Connor ByrneSource: Anthony DiComo

Tampa Bay Rays first baseman Jonathan Aranda (wrist) exited their game against the New York Yankees on Thursday with an apparent injury to his left wrist, according to Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times. Aranda departed in the bottom of the fifth inning after colliding with Giancarlo Stanton. The Rays then moved Brandon Lowe to first base and brought in Jose Caballero to play second. Aranda became the third Ray to leave early on Thursday, joining fellow first baseman Yandy Diaz (forearm) and outfielder Chandler Simpson (hand). The 27-year-old Aranda has slashed .315/.394/.478 with 12 homers, 54 RBI, and 53 runs scored in 409 plate appearances during his first All-Star campaign. The hope is that he won't require a stint on the 10-day injured list, but he left Thursday's game in considerable pain.--Connor ByrneSource: Marc Topkin

According to NFL insider Ian Rapoport, the Las Raiders and wide receiver Jakobi Meyers are in contract talks and could be working toward an extension this offseason. The 28-year-old has been excellent relative to his quarterback play since joining the team via free agency in 2023, collecting 158 receptions for 1,834 yards and 12 touchdowns in 31 games. Meyers is just 28 years old and doesn't rely on explosiveness to succeed, so he could have plenty left in the tank. Former Seahawks signal-caller Geno Smith should provide the best quarterback play Meyers has worked with since Tom Brady in his 2019 rookie season, and he continues to be undervalued in preseason fantasy football drafts. Tight end Brock Bowers is likely the clear No. 1 option in the Sin City, but Meyers should establish himself as the No. 2.--Jackson Sparks - RotoBallerSource: Ian Rapoport

The San Diego Padres are acquiring catcher Freddy Fermin from the Kansas City Royals for right-handers Ryan Bergert and Stephen Kolek, Jeff Passan of ESPN reports. Elias Diaz and Martin Maldonado have gotten the lion's share of playing time behind the plate for the Padres, but neither has provided much offense. Padres catchers have combined to hit an awful .203/.259/.315. Fermin isn't an offensive world-beater either, but he should give the Padres an upgrade with the bat. The 30-year-old has hit .255/.309/.339 with three home runs, 12 RBI, and 17 runs scored in 208 plate appearances.--Connor ByrneSource: Jeff Passan

Veteran free-agent wide receivers Andy Isabella and Marquez Callaway signed with the San Francisco 49ers on Thursday, reported by NFL Network's Mike Garafolo. Isabella was a second-round pick in the 2019 NFL Draft by the Arizona Cardinals before a disappointing four-year career with the organization. He has not played in a game since 2022. Callaway went undrafted in 2020 out of the University of Tennessee and has tallied 83 receptions for 1,069 yards and seven touchdowns in 42 career games (all with Saints). The 49ers wideout group is thin during training camp as Jauan Jennings (calf) and Brandon Aiyuk (knee) miss time with injuries, so these are likely pure depth signings more than anything else. Either newly signed wideout entering the fantasy football radar in 2025 would be a surprise.--Jackson Sparks - RotoBallerSource: Mike Garafolo

The New York Yankees are finalizing a trade to acquire right-handed reliever David Bednar from the Pittsburgh Pirates, per Jeff Passan of ESPN. The Pirates will receive catching prospect Rafael Flores and two other minor leaguers in return. In Bednar, the Yankees are getting a proven high-leverage option to join Luke Weaver and Devin Williams at the end of games. The 30-year-old made his second All-Star Game this season and has posted a 2.37 ERA with a 1.11 WHIP and 51:10 K:BB in 38 innings. Bednar has also converted all 17 of his save opportunities, but it's unclear if he'll serve as the Yankees' closer. Williams has been shaky in that role this season. Either pitcher would lose fantasy value if not deployed as a full-time closer.--Connor ByrneSource: Jeff Passan

The San Francisco 49ers signed veteran running back Ameer Abdullah on Thursday, according to NFL insider Mike Garafolo. This comes a day after the Niners hosted several running backs for workouts. The former second-round pick by the Detroit Lions out of Nebraska in 2015 has appeared in 141 NFL games, rushing for 1,994 yards, collecting 268 receptions for 1,468 yards, and scoring 19 total touchdowns. Abdullah had a short stretch of fantasy relevance last year with the Las Vegas Raiders, but he could face an uphill battle to make the 53-man roster in the Bay, and Christian McCaffrey and Isaac Guerendo should be viewed as the clear-cut RB1 and RB2 in Kyle Shanahan's offense to begin the 2025 campaign.--Jackson Sparks - RotoBallerSource: Mike Garafolo
