Athletics manager Mark Kotsay noted that shortstop Jacob Wilson (hamstring) is absent from Tuesday's contest with the Los Angeles Angels due to hamstring tightness. Per Kotsay, it was a precautionary benching with the A's on a long stretch of no rest. Fortunately, it sounds like Wilson is on the day-to-day side of things and shouldn't need more than a few to get himself right. Still, it's a situation to monitor as hamstring issues tend to linger if not appropriately managed. He's been a spark plug for the team at the top of the lineup, and was particularly blistering over his previous 11 outings with a superb .454 average (20-for-44).--Alex Ciulla
