Jorge Mateo Placed on 10-Day Injured List
Jorge Mateo (elbow) on the 10-day injured list with left elbow inflammation, the team announced. The move is retroactive to June 7. The O's selected infielder Luis Vasquez from Triple-A Norfolk in a corresponding move. Mateo began feeling discomfort in his elbow after a collision with teammate Heston Kjerstad back on May 31, per Jake Rill of MLB.com. An MRI revealed no structural damage, but there's no timeline for Mateo's return. The defensively versatile 29-year-old has gotten off to a woeful start this season with a .180/.231/.279 line and one home run over 65 plate appearances. However, Mateo has once again been a good source of stolen bases. He's 14-of-15 on his attempts this year.
