Reese Olson to Throw a Bullpen on Wednesday
Reese Olson (finger) is scheduled to throw a bullpen session on Wednesday. Olson threw a bullpen on June 7 and felt fine, although he hasn't been able to throw his changeup without irritation to his right ring finger that landed him on the 15-day injured list on May 19. The 25-year-old will attempt to throw his changeup again on Wednesday, and the Tigers are "cautiously optimistic" that they'll get him "back sooner than later," according to general manager Jeff Greenberg. If Olson has a successful bullpen on Wednesday, he could be cleared to face live hitters and return to Detroit's starting rotation before the end of June. Before his finger injury, Olson was in the midst of a breakout season over just nine starts, recording a 2.96 ERA and 1.17 WHIP with 51 K's and 19 walks in 48 2/3 innings pitched.
