Nathan Eovaldi Expected to Throw Bullpen This Weekend
Nathan Eovaldi (triceps) is in Arlington to undergo further diagnostic testing on his injured triceps, manager Bruce Bochy announced. The Rangers expect Eovaldi to throw a bullpen session this weekend. Eovaldi went on the 15-day IL with tightness in his triceps on June 1 (retroactive to May 29), derailing a fantastic start to the season for the 35-year-old. He stormed out of the gates with 69 1/3 innings of 1.56 ERA ball (3.37 xERA) and 73 strikeouts against a meager 10 walks before his IL stint. While it's unknown when Eovaldi will return, the Rangers have suggested his IL placement was precautionary. If that's the case, he could be back in their rotation soon.
