Nationals Call Up Andres Chaparro
Andres Chaparro from Triple-A Rochester on Tuesday and optioned infielder Nasim Nunez to Rochester in a corresponding move, according to president of baseball operations and general manager Mike Rizzo. Chaparro will be making his season debut for the Nats when he gets into a game after missing the first two months of the year with an oblique strain. The 26-year-old was hitting well at Rochester before his promotion, going 17-for-56 (.304) with five home runs, 19 RBI and eight runs scored in 15 games played. As a rookie in 2024, the Venezuelan hit .215 (26-for-121) with four homers and 15 RBI in his first 33 games. Chaparro is really only worth a look from fantasy managers looking for bench depth in deep NL-only leagues as a potential platoon guy against left-handed pitchers.
