Lucas Giolito Shuts Down Rays
Lucas Giolito threw six scoreless innings in Tuesday's 3-1 win over the Tampa Bay Rays. He yielded three hits, three walks, and punched out four to notch his fourth quality start, improving to 2-1. It's a nice rebound for him after a disastrous meeting with the Los Angeles Angels his last time out. The 30-year-old has had a rollercoaster of a time through his first eight appearances, recording three outings with six or more earned runs and four with one or fewer. The result is an ugly 5.45 ERA and 1.54 WHIP. Despite the strong performance, Giolito will be tough to trust the next time he toes the rubber when Boston squares off against the Seattle Mariners on the road early next week.
