Alex Cobb to Make Another Rehab Start on Wednesday
Alex Cobb (hip) is scheduled to continue his minor-league rehab start on Wednesday and start for Triple-A Toledo, according to MLive's Evan Woodbery. Cobb, who has been out all year due to right-hip inflammation, threw 2 1/3 hitless innings in his second rehab start for High-A West Michigan on June 6 and felt "incrementally better," according to manager A.J. Hinch. After throwing 50 pitches in his last rehab start, the 37-year-old right-hander will probably need a couple more outings in the minors before he becomes an option to be activated from the 60-day injured list to join the big-league roster. Cobb was a first-time All-Star in 2023 with the San Francisco Giants but made only three starts for Cleveland due to injury last year. He has never made 30 starts in a season and sports a below-average 7.5 K/9 in his 13-year career, limiting his fantasy appeal to much deeper leagues.
